All the links are mucked up from the last thread so I've copied and pasted an old list. Hope they are right and please ask if you want a direct link.

I've just done As**y on Appen too, my first Appen job. Was lovely, could happily do those again!

Is anyone doing A**r? I'm trying to understand if there's any catch, other than needing to have disposable funds in the first place.

GailLondon · 29/09/2020 19:40

I’m going to be doing Amr in the next round @WotsitWiggle* , I feel the same as you! If it wasn’t with Appen I wouldn’t sign up for it but I’m happy enough that it’s ok.

Katiepants27 · 29/09/2020 19:40

I think I must be too stupid to use Appen.
Signed up for the Fith project but can't actually do it as don't have a Bluetooth headset.
Signed up for the Newsk
h project but cannot see a link to the survey anywhere.
I think it might be a dead end for me. Is it always this confusing or am I just really dim?

WotsitWiggle · 29/09/2020 20:22

Thanks @GailLondon, I've signed up, let's see how it goes.

Buster27 · 29/09/2020 20:49

@Katiepants27 not you being stupid, you've just been unlucky with your first two projects. F initially had two options (complete with your phone or by bluetooth headset). By the time you signed up they must already have had enough phone submissions so now just want Bluetooth headset ones.

News* doesn't work for anybody yet I don't think.

There are some really good projects, but unfortunately some don't come to much/anything.

lilmishap · 29/09/2020 20:54

NEwsK* emailed me today, it hasnt started yet. I signed up to Firh NON bluetooth one aaannndd only got access to the Bluetooths one @Katiepants27 don't worry about it. Some on this thread do well on Appen I seem to be part of a group that just doesn't!

I'm accepted to everything but just don't get to do any. Have you also looked at Lionbridge? every so often they recruit for their Ad rating FB daily one Truck**?? I did it for a year and it was blissfully easy albeit dull as dry dishwater. It's worth keeping an eye out for

etelisha · 29/09/2020 21:14

@MrsWombat

Any one signed up for uTest who got a survey this morning about project bingo, definitely fill it out. It was the £30 for a half hour phone call I had last week.
Just got onto this supposed to be doing my call tomorrow 💃🏽💃🏽

Thanks, glad it's not just me!

ChubRubTub · 30/09/2020 01:19

There's no catch to A**r. I've been doing it a while now. You can resell all the stuff you don't want- or you may get lucky and order stuff with full refund policies.

seizethecuttlefish · 30/09/2020 10:26

@Katiepants27 I'm on New@@ and it's not working. I messaged and was told it hadn't started yet but other people are on it. Ah the joys of A! I keep seeing projects that never appeared on my list.

I thought I was on News... the email seemed to say I am and it says work this, has loads of info etc. When I messaged about the survey link not working a couple of weeks ago, the response was it hadn't started yet. I messaged again yesterday and have been told I'm not on the list currently working on it! So I can only assume they told lots of people they were in, but have only selected some of those. Very annoying as I've attempted it every day for 2 weeks and it has annoyed me the way they aren't admitting this wasn't clear. It very much made it seem like I was supposed to start the project.

Rad2016 · 30/09/2020 11:34

Thanks for new thread. Posted on old one then realised.

Morning all, its been a rough few weeks for me but back to normal now. Been very unwell, negative covid test but just couldn't get myself up.

I have been invited to a test for project R**tle on Appen. Is anyone one this project and how's the workload. I hope I can get some good hours on it as the project says you can put in up to 35 hrs a week. Thanks

SengaMac · 30/09/2020 14:31

Anyone doing the Text Elicitation on Nxxxo?
Do you really manage to include the short phrases verbatim into your sentences?
E.g. 'tank bra' or 'thank you' ?

Maybe I'm just dense.

TheSeedsOfADream · 30/09/2020 14:45

Before we move lock stock over onto the new thread, an A invoicing question again, I think it's @MrsWombat I'm looking for...(apologies if I'm remembering incorrectly, MN on my phone isn't working for some reason and by the time I get to the PC I've forgotten everything) I've been invoicing for N* just for the minutes i actually take, which as I'm on the phone one now, is hardly worth doing. Did I remember rightly that you (or someone else) says we can actually invoice for the amount A itself tells us we can take (ie 2 minutes per ad?) If so, huzzah. I'm about to finish my year anyway, next month, so would like to go out with a bang as it were.

Also hitting potato hard today, I've made £5 more than last month I think. Hope Boris says something wanky to get the keyboard warriors out. Grin

seizethecuttlefish · 30/09/2020 17:02

@TheSeedsOfADream invoice 2 mins per ad so 60 mins for 30. That's what I've done for the year.

ElectricEels · 30/09/2020 17:18

I always invoiced for an hour on N@le. It rarely took me longer than 10 mins.

Talking of N- bloody appen emailed me telling me off for not doing my days last week- when they told me my last day was 21st September 🙄.

seizethecuttlefish · 30/09/2020 19:22

@SengaMac I skipped a couple and said it didn't make sense as I'm sure it says not sport. I've only done a few to check if the are paying again or still being arsey. I have no idea if I'm doing it right buy I find questions easier.

TheSeedsOfADream · 30/09/2020 20:38

Brilliant, thank you.i got told off last week as well. What with potato, A-B***r and other bits and bobs I often get to bed and think "shit! The clicks!"

@Rad2016

Hi Rad, I don't have any answers regarding your actual query but just wanted to say I'm sorry to hear you've been so ill recently and wanted to wish you good health and good fortune in the coming weeks Thanks

Rad2016 · 30/09/2020 23:35

@24AStubbornlyPersistentIllusion thank you very much.Smile

SengaMac · 01/10/2020 00:12

@seizethecuttlefish , Thanks.
I was busy being creative, like they said, then noticed the instructions said to use the short phrases, presumably without altering them, but some of them are weird. Shock

I just got paid for assessing the recordings of 'noisy environments'.
Definitely worth having.
