All the links are mucked up from the last thread so I've copied and pasted an old list. Hope they are right and please ask if you want a direct link.

I don't seem to have anything to write at the end Shock

heathergem · 20/09/2020 22:22

Following with interest.

Can I ask, how many hours a day do you spend on this type of work? Could I do this in the eves do you think?

I had assumed I'd have to pay tax on anything I earned as I already have an income.
I didn't know about the £1000 trading allowance til I saw it mentioned on here.
Here's a link that explains about it, in case there's anyone else who didn't know.

MrsWombat · 21/09/2020 07:25

@heathergem That's a how long is a piece of string question, but some of it can definitely be done in the evening.

For me, I do most of my Crisp at 6am and often around tea time but normally 15 mins at a time. There is normally work available in the evening too. uTest stuff depends on the Test Case. You would need to accept straight away but you often have 6/18/24 hours to complete the work. Appen it depends on the project. I was on a year long hour a day project that could be done at any time. I have also been on some short term projects where the data lasted a few weeks so you could fill your boots every evening with no problems. I'm on a wacky one at the moment where they throw a big batch of data at us once a month and it's a bun fight to fill your boots Grin , but the data generally arrives late afternoon so it's mostly done in the evening anyway.

Welcome!

Appen New* - Everyone is filling out the quiz on the survey tab and putting technical issues yes?

OP posts:
Catatemyhomework · 21/09/2020 08:32

I emailed Appen about Ne*ah last week as I couldn't locate the quiz either. They emailed me today and have told me to send them my FB URL and they will add me to the tool apparently, so it might be worth messaging them to all those having problems with the quiz.

YonderTweek · 21/09/2020 08:35

Thanks @Catatemyhomework. I had wondered about it too. I've just been filling in the quiz saying I have tech issues but I might drop them a message. I had a look at their chat and it seemed that lots of people had the same problem.

lilmishap · 21/09/2020 09:35

ARGHHH Kn*x Im being bombarded with emails I do not have a DSID or username and they keep asking why I'm not logging on? Do they send me one or am I being dense and I already have one?

YonderTweek · 21/09/2020 10:06

Hi @lilmishap. You should get the DSID number when you get your log ins initially. I got an email from one of the project managers when I first qualified and it had my account name and the number in it, and then later on I received an email with a link to set up my account. I had some issues with the 2-step verification setup so I had to contact support, but it was resolved fairly swiftly. Have you got the initial welcome email?

anxiouswaiting · 21/09/2020 12:27

Anyone else get onto Kn** and not get sent any logins? It has been about a month now and I have e-mailed 3 times but get no reply.

I just filled in their form after their e-mail this morning, it is annoying knowing there is a lot of work and I can't access it!

Also no survey link for New and still waiting for At to start. I always miss the Wo and B**. Not having much luck at all!

I really have to up my game as we have just had to take out a loan for living expenses. I work pt but if I go back full time it is basically swallowed by childcare expenses so I am pretty desperate to get earning in the evenings again. Last year I had so much work, this year has been terrible.

anxiouswaiting · 21/09/2020 12:33

Oh Cab** as well, I got on but again no logins. I don;t think Appen Like me haha

Snowballs1 · 21/09/2020 12:58

Hi, I have been doing Crisp for a few months after learning about it from one of these threads, haven't got round to invoicing them yet Blush. Trying to do it now, I am using their invoice template, & am reading the guidance notes. It says there should be an invoice number in the emailed statement which I need to use, I keep rereading the email but can't see an invoice number anywhere (or a sage id no). I'm hoping ot avoid having to email them to ask, can anyone tell me where in the email it should be?

lynsey91 · 21/09/2020 13:11

@Snowballs1 I have only been working on Crisp for 2 months and that confused me too.

There is no invoice number. I am not sure why they mention one. I didn't put one on my invoice to them for August and got paid absolutely fine.

Snowballs1 · 21/09/2020 13:18

Thank you, I'll send it in without one then, is taking me ages to do the first one, hopefully after that it won't take so long.

Ilovefood1 · 21/09/2020 13:55

Hi @tootyfruitypickle,

I'm on T*** as well and I always bill for an hour no matter how long it actually took, and I've never had any problems with the invoices or anything.

Also hi to everyone else, I've been lurking here for almost a year and have signed up to loads of the stuff here, so thank you all for your help and advice!

tootyfruitypickle · 21/09/2020 14:11

@Ilovefood1. Ooh that’s interesting. You always Bill an exact hour?

Ilovefood1 · 21/09/2020 14:15
@Ilovefood1. Ooh that’s interesting. You always Bill an exact hour?
Yep! I've been on it since about the end of March, billed exactly an hour for each day, put it on my invoice and submit it - always been paid with no issues! :)

TheSeedsOfADream · 21/09/2020 14:21

Someone asked about potato payments. I always get paid within 24 hours of submitting my invoice.
Wrt to the Appen oops ones, I take screenshots and only invoice the minutes it takes me. I'm too wuss to ask for more Grin

Potato been fab this morning. Good old shit UK govt.

oh that's quick, I have just submitted July & August invoices, I really shouldn't have left it so long as I do need the money. I'm not a morning person, so only go on it in the evenings.
MrsWombat · 21/09/2020 18:08

If I remember correctly from when I did it you invoice them 3 minutes per item for the Big T and 2 minutes per item for T Opps. Check the invoice section on the project page for up to date info. So if you only get 18 items instead of 20 then you do 18x3 = 54 minutes. Definitely invoice them for the full amount.

OP posts:
Ilovefood1 · 21/09/2020 20:32

@MrsWombat thanks for explaining that! I don't feel so guilty about invoicing for an hour then, I'm on oops and get 30 items so works out perfectly. Should have really checked the invoice section so I knew that though, lol

@MrsWombat thank you for the reply.

Horehound · 21/09/2020 23:21

I started on Rev recently. I completed the four or five minute to two minute transcripts and then I was let loose!
Now I've never really done transcript work before and I'm just not sure I'm doing it right. I can't be bothered going back and forth checking the style guide every other word.
Anyhoo, I did a 24minute long transcript and submitted it. It says I'll get paid for that on the 28thbut is that the case even if I make a hash of it? I know I need to be good to stay on at reve bit they say you do 45mins then become a revver but if your work is poor they give you another 55mins and if it's still bad only then do they throw you off.

So how long would it take you to complete a 24min transcript?

It was quite tricky as lots of foreign speech with a translator.

Horehound · 22/09/2020 03:31

Omg got my score back...Near perfect!

Jeez I've never managed to do anything near perfect in my whole life lol woooo
