Morning all! Starting a new thread as the last one is full.

OP posts:
BertieBotts · 24/04/2020 10:14

Oh no, I got another task on Neevo and went through and did quite a lot last night/this morning. Then I looked on work history out of interest, and it says max submissions reached. Does that mean I've done too many? Would it automatically stop me? I stopped because I wanted to take a break.

HarrietOh · 24/04/2020 10:35

I'm trying to figure out where this potato task is that you keep talking about and I'm stumped!

527040minutes · 24/04/2020 10:36

@HarrietOh it's on the list at the beginning of the post. Think Walkers :)

Redcrayons · 24/04/2020 10:39

Rejoining the thread, I was on September/October and signed up for a few things but never got going. but now I’m furloughed I’m looking to make about £250 ish per month to make up the shortfall so I’m looking for some new ideas.

I signed up to Appen last year but have only seen work for two tasks since then, the B one. Got paid out this week for that £75 this week.

I get £20 every six weeks on Prolific, but usually miss loads because I can’t do them when I’m at work. I’m expecting that to tail off for summer though.

I’ve been on Crisp for a few weeks. I’m getting a bit quicker, but still not making £5 per hour.

Will read through the rest of the thread for some more ideas. Thanks everyone.

curdsandwhey · 24/04/2020 11:17

Is anyone else here on Yougov? I only joined a couple of days ago and haven't been sent any surveys yet apart from the introductory one.

@Redcrayons I know this isn't an ideal answer for everyone, but I've had a couple of times where I've woken up to a call of nature at about 4 or 5am, looked on Prolific then and found a couple of surveys waiting. The researchers are all around the world in different time zones, so if they put a survey up during their daytime then it could be the middle of the night here. It's worth a quick look if you happen to be awake.

SpockPaperScissorsLizardRock · 24/04/2020 12:36

Easy micro task on Appen right now.

Fedupandpoor · 24/04/2020 12:44

Do we get feedback on our potato work? I'm sure I have made a few minor mistakes and am expecting a bollocking or a firing!

Fizbo · 24/04/2020 14:14

@PigintheShitty I don't think anyone thinks it's the holy grail, we all know Appen pays more but projects don't last forever. For the last year I had a good project on Appen and two smaller ones so was able to earn between £300-£500 a month. This month I will maybe earn £20 from them as work is not consistent if you don't have a regular project.
I see potato as something I can dip in and out of at my convenience, this thread has enabled me to start saving some money which I am so grateful for, I know I won't earn as much as I do in my 'real job' but it has created a much needed buffer thanks to @Otterses Thanks

Rad2016 · 24/04/2020 14:22

I agree with PigintheShitty. This platform is just awesome and it's really helped me cope with this lockdown. I only registered on here a few months ago and I am so glad I did. I got accepted onto the Bane project with appen but no work since I got the email. I signed up to clickworker, though not much at least its something. I will appreciate any tips to get me busy. I just registered with Grapevine fingers crossed something comes up. Oh and Lionbridge. j

Redcrayons · 24/04/2020 16:10

@curdsandwhey mmm I’m not sure I’ll be getting up at 4am Grin. Right place, right time with them. I’ve been doing it for a while and I think it usually winds down in summer anyway. I don’t rely on it, but it’s pretty easy when you get a good run.

@Fedupandpoor I got some feedback from something I missed, but nothing from anything else I’ve done, and I’m sure I’ve made a few mistakes. Not yet anyway.

I just timed myself on there and I’m working about £4 per hour today.

I don’t really understand Appen. I’ve qualified for loads but have only ever had an invite for B* or the ones which need access to My FB, which I’m not going to do. Do you have to log in every day to grab the work?

SpockPaperScissorsLizardRock · 24/04/2020 16:16

@Redcrayons why don't you want to allow access to Facebook? It really is essential for those projects.

Catatemyhomework · 24/04/2020 16:26

@SpockPaperScissorsLizardRock, I've just done that one. First thing I've done all week. Been a bit slack with the kids at home. Just can't get my work head on. Need to do better next week!

SpockPaperScissorsLizardRock · 24/04/2020 16:48

@Catatemyhomework same here. My kids need too much attention and by bedtime i'm knackered!

Still, my favourite Appen project is due to start today/tomorrow so something to look forward to!

TomTomRunner · 24/04/2020 16:58

@Fedupandpoor. Me too, exactly! I've had no feedback even after sending in my queries and I've no idea idea how many tasks I've done. Have you worked out how to see that yet?

If I'm doing Ok I'd like them to tell me. Can anybody else on Potato advise?

justtheonethen · 24/04/2020 17:18

C is definitely my holy grail. It's regular work which Appen often isn't. I do shifts which helps but make £10 an hour on ppi. It's always crap when a load of new people start as there isn't enough content, loads will drop out soon I expect (usually do) and the queues will be bigger and then it will run quick enough for £10 an hour.

Some people don't like it/can't make the money on it but it's a bloody godsend for me.

Redcrayons · 24/04/2020 17:33

@SpockPaperScissorsLizardRock I don’t want to hand over my FB to people I don’t know. What do they need to know about?

@TomTomRunner do you not have access to the dashboard? It’s tells you how many items and how much you’ll get paid. I think the login came with the initial info Email.

@justtheonethen how do you get on to the shifts? I’ve only been doing it for 2 weeks so not expecting it yet, just wondering.

SpockPaperScissorsLizardRock · 24/04/2020 17:39

@Redcrayons I can't answer that without breaching an NDA but trust me it's legit.

SpockPaperScissorsLizardRock · 24/04/2020 17:39

Although you don't know me either lol so probably sensible!

curdsandwhey · 24/04/2020 17:40

I don’t want to hand over my FB to people I don’t know. What do they need to know about?

This. Amazed anyone would ask why not!

@Redcrayons I don't understand Appen either. I was accepted straight away for that project although I still don't really understand what it is, and there are other projects that say you have to study 15-20 hours before you qualify. But even with the B one I don't really understand what we'll be doing!

curdsandwhey · 24/04/2020 17:42

Is anyone else here on Yougov, and if so how often do they send you surveys?

Fedupandpoor · 24/04/2020 17:46

@TomTomRunner Have you had your dashboard login yet? It has your total on there. I'm at the grand total of £1 per hour!

justtheonethen · 24/04/2020 17:51

@Redcrayons they will ask you or sometimes they ask if anyone is interested and you can apply. Think you have to be there 3 months.

PigintheShitty · 24/04/2020 19:58

@justtheonethen so you’re admitting that there’s not enough work for all us newbs? And £10 an hour is a pipe dream til most of us fuck off disillusioned? Right. Nice.

Fedupandpoor · 24/04/2020 20:07

@PigintheShitty Calm down, @justtheonethen is offering help, don't shoot the messenger.

Obviously when there is an influx of new people, the work is spread out. The ones who stay and make a go of it, get somwhere. Or, you can bow out and go elsewhere. £10 per hour is crazy money for an online job, so it makes sense you have to work for it.

PonkyTonk · 24/04/2020 20:13

Having read this a few times now I do wonder if the potato bunch have a few fake PR people on mumsnet like the Hush skirt lovers and the Babyliss Big hair recommenders Grin
