@Lougle thanks! That's really helpful. So far on the one test cycle I'm doing, I'm always too late to report any bugs!

SpockPaperScissorsLizardRock · 16/03/2020 15:59

Anyone near Colchester? This looks good

Job

Catatemyhomework · 16/03/2020 16:03

I'm a bit confused. My paypal shows that I have just been paid $109 from UTest, but when I log into UTest it's now showing pending payment of £40.73 due on March 16 which is today. Does this mean they do two payments on 16 March or will this now be carried over to the end of March? Also, it shows £s in UTest but pays in $s into paypal.

Tinging · 16/03/2020 16:41

@Catatemyhomework I've just had the same, a payment from utest and the exact same pending payment amount as you, I think it just means it will be payed on the next date though I'm not sure when that is as it says "soon" in my payment details page.
The utest site shows payment in estimated UK currency but pays in USD as far as I'm aware, there is an option on your payments page at the bottom to select to see it in USD all the time if you prefer.

Lougle · 16/03/2020 19:42

The payments are always in USD. Your pending payment is the payment that has been authorised but not ready to pay. So, for example, I had two bugs approved yesterday that weren't included in my payment received today. The pending payment changed to paid and my pending payment updated with the value of those 2 bugs.

I always find that UTest overestimated my GBP amount. I'm beginning to think of having it displayed in dollars so I'm not disappointed.

@toastytea three things will happen with your testing: 1. You'll get quicker. 2. You'll notice more. 3. You'll find that you get bugs that other people don't experience.

I'm on a cycle right now where I'm the only person that has reported a UK issue. It's like an open field for me: None of the people in those countries can see what happens in the UK and I don't have any competition (at this moment).

Another example might be your device. I found a problem where I failed a test case step and reported it, but other people would have found that step was perfectly fine.

Don't lose heart - you will improve.

Lougle · 16/03/2020 19:44

Where does it say due on 16th? My pending payment is listed as 'soon'.

SpockPaperScissorsLizardRock · 16/03/2020 20:06

Anyone else doing Am**? or is it just me again?!

Catatemyhomework · 16/03/2020 20:48

@Tinging, thanks. I might select the option to see it in USD as the amount in £s paid is always slightly less than the amount it states at the top.
@Lougle, it's on the top right hand corner of the project page. It says pending payment and amount and date it's due.

Lougle · 16/03/2020 20:59

Oh! @Catatemyhomework that's a thing. Last month there was mass panic because the date showed 29/03 instead of 16/03. It's a glitch. It will probably update overnight.

Geepipe · 16/03/2020 21:00

Joining as am in desperate need now. Will read from the begining.

Lougle · 16/03/2020 21:07

@Geepipe welcome Smile I was earning nothing in January, and now I'm earning, so don't despair.

Geepipe · 16/03/2020 21:10

Thank you thats great to hear. I lost my job today so need to make some money to cover my debt until everything settles.

SpockPaperScissorsLizardRock · 16/03/2020 21:22

Sorry to hear that @Geepipe. This is the place to be.

Buster27 · 16/03/2020 21:38

@Geepipe so sorry to hear that Sad

@SpockPaperScissorsLizardRock jealous you're on am**, I want that one!

SpockPaperScissorsLizardRock · 16/03/2020 21:43

@Buster27, i've had some really good stuff. A lot of junk too mind you!

toastytea · 17/03/2020 10:53

connect.appen.com/qrp/public/jobs?uref=7ba3f2bcfe2c059bd58a1b3df0f06b8c

That's my referral link to appen which has some busy projects at the moment.

I do get $25 if someone uses the link and completes 150hrs work!

I've personally found appen to be my biggest earner as I have a long term project on there and every couple months there tends to be a few more short term ones. The pay tends to be $14 per hour.

My other main earner at the moment is UTest. I'm only taking part in one project but it pays well.

I occasionally use Neevo but it does tend to be lower pay per hour.

I believe teemwork.ai have positions for search evaluators. This involves a qualification process that is quite tricky to pass.

There's also lionbridge which I don't use but others on this thread do.

toastytea · 17/03/2020 10:55

That was for anyone who has recently joined. Hope no one minds me posting my referral link, feel free to ignore.

@Geepipe good luck. If you have the time to put in, there's money to be made! Just apply for everything and you'll get something.

rhij86 · 17/03/2020 11:00

How is everyone getting on today?

Is anyone else now facing the prospect of 12 weeks isolation following the announcement last night? Hoping the online work will be plentiful!

OP posts:
Catatemyhomework · 17/03/2020 11:18

@rhij86, I am now in that situation. Ds has a cough and temperature so we're all at home. Dd1 is in year 11 so it's a worry. Anyone got any tasks on B* yet? Nothing for me there at the moment.

anxiouswaiting · 17/03/2020 11:18

No work here Sad I have the day child free but again nothing to do. Looks like B* has more work according to the chat but yet again no link for me.

I really hope things pick up as very worried about the prospect of our house having no income over the coming months.

rhij86 · 17/03/2020 11:20

@Catatemyhomework hope your DS feels better soon.
@anxiouswaiting - a worrying time for a lot of people. Hope something comes up!

Nothing on B*ne for me either, the project page currently says 'part 3 tasks coming soon'

OP posts:
Catatemyhomework · 17/03/2020 11:29

@rhij86, thanks. He's fine in himself but government advice is to keep all family at home in this situation. I do worry about Dd1 she has GCSEs in a couple of months and we don't know what will happen.

@anxiouswaiting, hope you get something soon. Hopefully B* will pick up soon. I think it was last Wednesday the tasks were released so maybe tomorrow? Fingers crossed.

rhij86 · 17/03/2020 11:33

@catatemyhomework yes exam time will be stressful - I guess all she can do is keep working towards them for now until the schools are told otherwise.

Madre77 · 17/03/2020 11:55

Morning all.

I like the community we have here its saving me from going completely up the wall and I am not self isolating lol. What is everyone's staple stream(s) when the peaks disappear. You know the ones you can rely on but may have to do a bit extra to see some light at the end of the months tunnel. I have appen t* and cloudworkers.

Also the companies are now peaking and going quiet all at the same time roll my eyes

Catatemyhomework · 17/03/2020 12:02

Madre77, my staples are Utest, Appen B* and periodically Neevo. Utest has work at the moment, nothing for me on Appen right now and Neevo is quiet two. I haven't had much this last couple of days, but I am doing some bits on Utest. Hoping things pick up soon.
