The Irish couple that left Total Shite Life have gone back to it. I'm surprised that MLM is still rumbling on, it seems like the Messiah is pissing people off left, right and centre

SilverChime · 28/09/2019 17:05

Oh dear, I’ve had to decline a “party” invitation from an MLM bot. She’s invited a dozen or so people for a catch up at her house, bring your own bottle and she’ll provide snacks. Everyone was enthusiastic. Then she said “I’ll also be demonstrating the great products on offer”... Erm, suddenly everyone is busy. Why does she think it’s ok to invite friends round then give them the hard sell for an entire evening? She is completely unfazed and is trying to rearrange for another date, but everyone is frantically making excuses.

Not as bad as the bot who has invited me and other friends to a Macmillan coffee morning where she’ll also be selling her products. It’s supposed to be a charity event to benefit Macmillan! Some people have pointed this out and she’s now been shamed into offering to donate 10% of her commission to Macmillan. I still think she’s taking the piss by using a charity event to flog her MLM 😡

Mielabel · 28/09/2019 17:13

One of my ex FLP bots is now talking about Inteletravel on her FB page. She is connected to RasherBot so I’m presuming that’s the company both have switched to. Any information on this MLM? I haven’t come across it before so am presuming it’s new.

Twentytwentyhindsight · 28/09/2019 17:59

@Mielabel Inteletravel has been around long enough to have been the subject of some investigative reporting (that only skirted around the pyramidal aspect, unfortunately).

It's so bad that even Broke, after a brief career as an 'independent travel agent', described it as a Ponzi scheme.

Recruits pay for an online 'course', then a monthly fee. They are then supposed to be able to flog holidays, but are not given any privileged access to source any good deals. Any money they make comes from recruiting others, who pay for the training and then the monthly fee, etc. etc. etc...

AntiBotics · 28/09/2019 18:05

Anyone got experience of Utilities Warehouse? There’s a particularly pushy couple who live near me punting it at anyone who asks locally on fb about joining Bulb or Octopus.
I haven’t been able to find an income disclosure from my brief google but would be interested to see. I also wonder if they really are the best deals? I think you have to switch everything to get a good deal but then if it’s all lumped in it can be harder to spot that your mobile or energy deal should be better.

Whiterangey · 28/09/2019 18:11

Utility Warehouse is an MLM and they got Joanna Lumley involved.

Ha ha.

Joanna Lumley has just gone way down in my opinion.

Bluewavescrashing · 28/09/2019 18:23

In one promotional video, Lumley – who is the latest celebrity to plug the company; others have included Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders, and Terry Wogan – says: “Spend a few hours a week building your business and you will quickly find yourself earning an extra few hundred pounds each month. Keep going, work a little harder and you could earn thousands of pounds extra each month … It could earn you financial freedom for life.”

Omg!

Whiterangey · 28/09/2019 19:01

I can't hate on Joanna Lumley, it's tough, but i'm going to say it was just another job and they paid well.

She was young and needed the money, or something like that.

She was younger than she is now.

She probably has no clue as to what they are about, just reading a script.

Not like those two twats who are ambassadors for forever living, they take the money and actively participate in that craziness.

Hunbot · 28/09/2019 19:28

Wait wait. Forever living uk made 74k profit last year.

I made more money than the whole of forever living uk last year (not bragging but I earn a decent salary as a professional)

Oh this is glorious. Financial freedom my arse

Spongebobette · 28/09/2019 20:09

WELL goodness me I have only just noticed that Forever Living’s accounts are on Companies House

It’s a big drop overall of course, but needs to be seems in the context of previous years’ big drops.

Can’t recall off hand what the drops were last year and the year before; perhaps someone will look at their accounts and post them. I’m a bit busy rolling on the floor laughing

Gotmychocolateimgood · 28/09/2019 20:28

Someone needs to do a good pie chart or bar graph or something

Twentytwentyhindsight · 28/09/2019 21:01

I'll have a closer look at FLP UK's accounts over the last few years and try to produce something digestible when I'm back at my desk on Monday (I don't do the 'pockets of time' when I'm with my kids).

One thing we shouldn't fixate on too much is the headline 'net profit' figures. As @Bovneydazzlers pointed out earlier, FLP UK is merely a vehicle for funnelling profits to the mother company in the US. They can vary the price FLP UK pays for the products, as well as the rent they pay, all of which will have an effect on the UK's figures. Also to be taken into account are the staffing decisions taken - will getting rid of staff have cost them this year in redundancy payments etc. (obviously the longer term effects will be to lower their costs)?
The bonus cheque (share of the profits) given out to Bloodsucker alone this year is 9 times higher than FLP UK's declared profit- that gives an idea of how the figure is somewhat unrepresentative.
It is probably also beneficial in tax terms for them to declare less of a profit in the UK.
Much more interesting will be the figures for turnover and recruiting - as they say in their accounts, their KPIs are CCs and new signings.

Whiterangey · 28/09/2019 21:41

The recruitment figures were the ones I was most eager to see, given it's all about recruitment, and that is where the top bots earn their money, it's encouraging to see them fall.

@Twentytwentyhindsight i'm very interested in what your findings will be on Monday.

I noticed they said they were Brexit ready with extra shipments, we know, we saw them all in Castle's garage.

Paddy1234 · 28/09/2019 22:30

From what I can remember the base turnover quite a number of years ago before FL started to grow was about 24m.
I expect this to be at the level next year.
It's still a turnover which is worth having with the profit margins involved.
The market stills needs to die for this over priced product.
The bottom has fallen out but there are still an awful lot of die hards still purchasing and contributing to turnover. The next eighteen months is huge for FL and whether they can even stay in the UK.
I have a feeling that BP recognises that recruitment has long been dead now in uk and to keep a base now, he needs to improve retail sales. However if this is his marketing strategy it will go completely against his top bots, who need the individual case credits.

Paddy1234 · 28/09/2019 22:48

Laughing at comment about brexit ready being in castles garage 😂

Arbonne’s accounts are due tomorrow too. I’m hoping they’ll show a similar decline in new bots and turnover too.

Whiterangey · 29/09/2019 11:26

The 2020 planners launch tonight. Isn't that a bit late? I already have things in my diary for 2020.

I believe they ate dropping the kids planners, don't think they were successful.

hunzuncovered · 29/09/2019 17:58

Seen this picture posted a few times today. I'm not sure how low level huns who aren't working think they can post this crap like they've made it.

So....

Spongebobette · 29/09/2019 18:09

Why is Yawn on Insta pretending that she is currently ‘renovating’ her house? All the stuff she’s ‘showcasing’ is from a couple of years ago.
If you have a look, brace yourself for ‘quirky bits’ (tat, tat and more tat)

Bluewavescrashing · 29/09/2019 18:28

PHD has referenced this thread again on her stories today. When we pointed out that the reason her rented shared office was empty on a Sunday was that everyone else was, you know, having a life with their friends and families.

She has serious goals to smash and goals to manifest, guys! 🤣 Announcement coming tomorrow!!!

Gotmychocolateimgood · 29/09/2019 21:02

The new Pro planners for 2020 are launching tonight. Advert on fb is strange though, the pages are pictured filled with twee computer generated cartoon style pics like 'drinks with girls cocktail glass' and 'crossfit sesh' but very little actual work 😂 however I assume the pages are blank. Like an actual diary then? Castle would have been better off working with a software developer to create a diary program I think. Anyway it's pure fluff.
