@justtheonethen same here. I posted the same thing a couple of days ago. I keep meaning to message them.

SpockPaperScissorsLizardRock · 26/08/2019 11:43

Nile is a good one to start with on Appen. Yes, any 5 days and it starts on Monday. I'm on Nile Oops now which i prefer.

I did half of Fletcher before i got bored so i gave up. Luckily they decided to pay me for what i did after they said they would only pay if you complete them all!

SpockPaperScissorsLizardRock · 26/08/2019 11:53

If anyone is thinking about Appen then please can you use my referral link? Thanks!

SpockPaperScissorsLizardRock Thank you!

Zebrimid · 26/08/2019 16:17

Had the most horrendous cambly lesson ever, need to share to recover from it!
Started the lesson
Them: is it OK if I record this?
Me presuming they mean so they can review the lesson: sure fine by me
Them turns camera around and they're on a TV set with camera men and producers: oh great because I'm an influencer with 300k subscribers and were doing a sponsored post about cambly and I'm going to put this on youtube.

Hmm. Put me totally off, I panicked obviously and now my epic fail of a lesson and me looking rough will be immortalised on youtube, great, fab.

Zebrimid · 26/08/2019 16:21

Also I got a grand sum of 4.25 dollars for that.

I need wine, lots of wine Wine

BeeMyBaby · 26/08/2019 16:23

Zebrimind ShockShockShockShockShock omg!!!!

Zebrimid · 26/08/2019 16:30

Legit have no words, I feel shakey and sweaty, I was dripping in sweat by the end, my clothes were soaked. Sounds so dramatic but I have asd and struggle with people's thoughts on me and now over a 1/4 million subscribers can comment their thoughts on her YouTube channel.
Also pisses me off how little I got paid for that and how much she will get paid off my lesson!!
Urghhhhhhh

seizethecuttlefish · 26/08/2019 16:49

@Zebrimid that's shit! I'm sure it's not as bad as you think. We always think we're worse than we are, you're you own worst critic. In the end, she should have led with "I'm on YouTube, can I record this?" And you could have said no, I'd rather you didn't.

Zebrimid · 26/08/2019 17:06

I know your right! Went into a mini breakdown over it but hopefully won't be so bad!
Annoys me that were all slogging away to make money on here and someone is getting paid for a YouTube video where I am doing the bulk of the work also looked it up and she will also get 10% of any revenue she brings to cambly via people signing up, but if they sign up from that video (very unlikely!) it will be because of me and I got 4 dollars!

I won't derail anymore but wtf at the unfairness of that!

Back on topic, other tefl companies I've found recently if anyone is interested: skyeng, landi and nativecamp. There's also a great fb group called online esl teachers that has lots of opportunities posted and not all are Beijing time! Which is nice as means potentially different hours available.
Also can you drop appen tasks? I foolishly took up the 800 record and transcribe task!

SNISR · 26/08/2019 20:17

@seizethecuttlefish and @justtheonethen I've been assigned to altahama but it's not in my projects either.

SNISR · 26/08/2019 20:26

Hi @Zebrimid I'm not sure how cambly works but I hope really really hope she gives you a credit and people sign up and takes lessons with you.

I also want to thank you and everyone on here for all the recommendations of companies you put on here. I will be looking Into the companies you have suggested below.

I passed my palfish demo and have done 2 trial lesson. I feel that there are too many teachers for the work available.
I have been added to a few groups on there and I have quickly realised that so many teachers are struggling to get students. I think I'll have to graft very very hard on there and the dream of making it my full time job is looking very grim. It's very early days though so not giving up hope just yet.

Zebrimid · 26/08/2019 20:34

Palfish isn't the best for full time income but it really picks up after a couple of weeks. Best combo if you want to do full time is
A one with fixed hours like dadaabc or hellokid, itutorgroup and many more, that do core Beijing hours.
Something flexible like palfish that is a lot easier in terms of flexibility and cancelling.
Cambly or similar for 24hr hop on hop off money making at any time.

Ignoring the shit show of cambly today! It's generally quite good for topping up earnings from the likes of palfish, I just got paid off cambly about an hour ago and made nearly 200 dollars this week.

justtheonethen · 26/08/2019 20:42

@Zebrimid oh my fucking god. That sounds horrific.

SNISR · 26/08/2019 21:18

Oh wow @Zebrimid you have done really well this week. Well done! 💃🏻

I will have a look at the others you have suggested, but I don't have a degree, so very limited to what I can apply for. Cambly is next on the list.

The list below doesn't require a degree so I will look into them also.

3dogsnorth · 26/08/2019 21:34

How do you get on the Nile project on Appen. I'm only on Truckee but would like another!

margaritasbythesea · 26/08/2019 22:43

3dogs - I seem to remember that you can't do truckee and Nile together. Anyone?

CatHopeful · 27/08/2019 08:41

Is anyone having trouble with the Crisp dashboard? Mine hasn't updated to reflect the work I did yesterday and Saturday?

justtheonethen · 27/08/2019 08:42

Same @CatHopeful it will probably update later today.

CatHopeful · 27/08/2019 08:51

Thanks for the reply justtheonethen. Perhaps just a bank holiday issue then. I've already emailed them in the last few days about a tech issue, I didn't want to have to email again about something else!

justtheonethen · 27/08/2019 09:01

@CatHopeful yeah it does this sometimes so I wouldn't worry. I will email them about it if it doesn't update by tomorrow. It usually sorts itself out in a couple of days. 🤞🏻

CatHopeful · 27/08/2019 09:28

justtheonethen thanks, I'll keep an eye on it.

AliciaWhiskers · 27/08/2019 09:37

Hey all, can I ask a cloudworkers question. I've applied, and have been sent the application forms. I don't have a scanner - can I take a photo of the forms and send them back that way? Do you get paid via paypal, or into a bank account? Also, what do people do about paying tax etc when making money from this kind of work? Are you registered as self employed?

SNISR · 27/08/2019 11:56

@AliciaWhiskers how long did they take to get back to you? I applied on Saturday, but not even received a confirmation email to say my application has been submitted.

AliciaWhiskers · 27/08/2019 12:06

Oh, they take ages! About 2 weeks for the initial response, and then about 5-6 days between emails.
