I am wondering about these courses too. I know that the Celta and Tesol are the only ones worth it really but I live rurally and it is impossible for me to get to one. I´d like to know if one of these cheap ones is worth it just for working online.

Zebrimid · 16/08/2019 13:34

For lots of the online companies they don't care which one you have, for something like palfish don't waste money getting a good one.

StudentHelp · 16/08/2019 13:43

@Otterses
Thanks for the Mobeye suggestion! Just been walking around my house photographing random things they wanted photos of, like dog beds Grin
At £1.60 within about 10 mins, hopefully they get approved.

artio0 · 16/08/2019 14:24

Hi all, I've been following the thread for a while... I signed up to Appen but haven't received any projects yet and I've signed up to Lionbridge and applied for a project and they came back to me saying I can't be with any other similar sites including Appen. Would you recommend Appen or Lionbridge? Thanks!

AdaShelby · 16/08/2019 14:35

Angelfish are really good to whoever asked.

SNISR · 16/08/2019 15:51

Does anyone have a link to angelfish sign up? I've had a search but so many different websites pop up.

Zebrimid · 16/08/2019 18:14

Just heard back from cloudworkers finally! Currently sitting on a cambly priority hour but haven't had any calls yet! Thank you for the recommendation about mobeye! I've racked up a pound in last 20mins taking pictures!

Heismyopendoor · 16/08/2019 19:35

Pisspants do you have a referral for camboy or anything? :) going to sign up, do you use one of those cool gamer type headsets?

Heismyopendoor · 16/08/2019 19:36

Camboy, kill me now lol meany cambly haha, damn auto correct!!

Zebrimid · 16/08/2019 20:30

You need a headset or mic and a webcam but no camboys Grin
I just got off a one and a half hour call with someone on cambly kaching!

SorryDidISayThatOutLoud · 16/08/2019 22:07

@pisspants you asked about job adverts? If you use JobSpotter then you have to use their app. You take the pic of the ad and upload it while on site. You get a number of points and they are converted to vouchers of some kind or other.

SorryDidISayThatOutLoud · 16/08/2019 23:20

Oh, I wanted to report in that I got my first fanjo on crisp today! It was a bit of a shock as it was on a kids site.

pisspants · 16/08/2019 23:30

thanks @SorryDidI - I will try to download it.

@Heismyopendoor I have a referral link which I think means I would get $20 if you complete 10 priority hours so would be more than happy for you to use it - thank you Smile www.cambly.com/en/tutors?referralCode=helen755

It can be a bit hit and miss. I had a half hour reservation at 10pm who didn't come through. There was another reservation at 10:30 who also didn't show. Which is annoying as I had prepared something for them That said, calls still come through so you still make money - I am up to $72 in 4 evenings this week of about 3 hours per evening so I guess it works out as about $6 or $7 an hour. What I love is the variety of people you talk to. Tonight I spoke to a business man in Kuwait and a Korean artist who showed me her artwork. It works well for me as I am a single mum so my evenings are dead time really and is also good that I get some adult conversation - if mostly one way and a bit stilted at times!

SNISR · 17/08/2019 09:02

I don't know why is so excited but I just purchased my tefl online course 💃🏻 I can't wait to get started!!!

If all goes well, is it possible to make this a full time job?

Adelais · 17/08/2019 14:30

Those of you doing cloudworkers can I ask you whether the 12 hours can be booked at any times or do a minimum amount have to be at weekends or evenings?
I’ve applied but not sure I want to commit to several evenings and weekends.

seizethecuttlefish · 17/08/2019 15:32

@Adelais you get a link to a booking sheet and book through there. I book a variety of shifts. They are stacked at evenings and weekends and that's where you'll make most, as the messages come through quicker. I dropped a shift last week, as it was so slow. I was barely making 5/hr and I didn't see the point.

seizethecuttlefish · 17/08/2019 15:34

Before I forget, has anyone managed to get on ModSquad? Haven't heard from them.

DontCallMeDarling · 17/08/2019 15:46

I haven't

Tohaveandtohold · 17/08/2019 18:53

I haven’t heard from modsquad either. I’ll try and sign up for lion bridge today.

3dogsnorth · 17/08/2019 22:05

Anyone here working the Truckee project on Appen and been moved to the Oops! project. I've been moved and it's pretty unclear ! Did anyone get moved back to the original 20 ads per day?

Wolfff · 17/08/2019 22:59

@3dogsnorth
Yes I got moved a week after starting. Been doing it for a few weeks. It’s a pain because there is more to do but I think they want less detail in the comments.

Apothekerry · 17/08/2019 23:48

Newbie here, looking to make a few extra squids based on advice read on this thread.
Signed up to Appen, passed the initial application process, just waiting to be assigned some projects, applied for Truckee, Freeman and Nyasa. This is all very new to me so any pointers if I do pass accreditation for these.

Also applied to Cloudworkers, received email confirmation of my application, just waiting for next steps.

What exactly is Crisp please and how would I apply for that ?

Thanks in anticipation

SNISR · 18/08/2019 09:22

@Zebrimid could you kindly share your palfish props file with us.
I applied for the £19 tefl and waiting for the coursework to come through tomorrow. Whilst I'm doing the course I will prepare my props. I actually can't wait to get on board!

I will apply for cambly today too. I noticed there is a cambly app, after joining, can you use the app to teach or is that for some other purpose? I just find teaching on the phone more convenient.

pisspants · 18/08/2019 10:19

@SNISR on Cambly there is some stuff you can do on the tutor app like cancel priority hours and view them and reservations but you can only book priority hours and teach via a laptop. It would be great if you could teach through the phone but it's not possibot at the moment. The students are often on phones though I think.

A question for Facebook ad raters on Appen. I have just started Saluda. Yesterday I managed to complete a batch but today it closed part way through. i then started another batch and made sure I did a total of 30 but can i still invoice for that? I took screen shots at 11 and 11 ads in but could not prove i did the full 30. Also, do you always click on each ad and read through the articles or do you just look at the surface but which would show on your newsfeed? i did that yesterday and then today did the click throughs and that's when it crashed. it also takes longer obvs! just wanted to check the correct way to do it as their guidelines are not that clear. thanks Smile

SNISR · 18/08/2019 11:04

@pisspants thank you Smile
