MLMs/ Network Marketing: Thread 45

Spongebobette · 05/12/2018 12:24

This is the 45th thread in a long series about the dangers of network marketing/ MLMs such as Forever Living, Ariix, NuSkin, Arbonne, Younique, Valentus, TS Life, Monat, Stella and Dot, Tropic, various slimroast/weight loss coffee MLMs and MANY MANY more!
Posts here will give examples of the lies told by 'top bots' who portray luxury lifestyles in order to lure in new victims and of the other techniques and brainwashing used by MLMs.
The reality is that 97% of people who join an MLM end up LOSING money. Always bear that in mind when considering paying money to join!

I know little about this process, other than to assume it's not a good sign, but a super sporty & confident JP PMD's company is currently in liquidation.

dickiedavisthunderthighs · 27/12/2018 00:22

I wish Uber happiness in that respect; her ex fucked off when she was pregnant at 40 (I know him and he has form for it) and the new fiancé has taken the baby on as his own. I'd like to think she'd give up FL for a normal life but that's wishful thinking no doubt.

BangingOn · 27/12/2018 06:56

Willows not the JP PMD who did Iron Man last year?

BangingOn · 27/12/2018 07:05

Found it, it is! The insolvency paperwork was filed around the time they moved house, looking at the papers it seems she can’t repay a director’s loan and owes HMRC.

She’s been a speaker at at least two JP events since then, I’m surprised they still want her as poster girl when a quick Google shows her company as insolvent.

I used to work with her a few years ago in a well paid corporate job- she was a nice lady back then.

Willowsauntie · 27/12/2018 10:58

@BangingOn

My issue with this is that the majority of her team is girls 21&under. Many of whom have babies and have never had a real job. She is no role model, and I'm fearful for the young girls in her team and what garden path she is leading them down. They won't have a clue about her true financial situation.

Norma27 · 27/12/2018 11:01

Mrs stickman must have really tightened controls on fb as her partner is tagging her in things.
Looks like she is expecting again, really hope yawn keeps away from her and lets her enjoy this pregnancy, newborn and the boy they already have.

BangingOn · 27/12/2018 11:01

Willow I agree, I’ve followed her over the years with increasing horror and no longer recognise the fairly decent person I once knew. I was furious recently when she was babbling about how perfect the business was for new mothers with pictures of a team member with a newborn on a Zoom call, when I know she had 6 months full pay as a maternity benefit with both of hers.

BangingOn · 27/12/2018 11:25

If anyone wants to add Iron Bot to their watch list then Googling Juice Plus time freedom and looking at the videos might be enlightening.

SSDGM · 27/12/2018 11:34

So she owes the Taxman £45k and the bank £6.5k?
If the company is insolvent then this means she can’t afford to pay this, right?

But still she’s recruiting. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Spongebobette · 27/12/2018 11:54

Is she the one who is so excited about 2019 for her girl gang?

OP posts:
9dartfinish2nd · 27/12/2018 12:03

Let me get this straight, her company is insolvent but she is carrying on as normal?
Is this just a pride thing or can she just become a sole trader and continue from there?

I am following with interest an award winning senior bot who has gone radio silent on facebook and is almost a month overdue submiting accounts to Companies House, surely can't be a coincindence.

2019 will hopefully be to the MLM industry what 2008 was to the banking industry.

BangingOn · 27/12/2018 12:07

Sponge that’s the one.

SSDGM that’s how I interpreted it too. She’s still recruiting, doing two team Zoom calls a day (6 on a Friday!), speaking at JP events as a shining example of success and selling tickets to her confidence building events and mentoring courses.

BangingOn · 27/12/2018 12:09

9Dart she appears to have been insolvent since the summer but she hasn’t missed a beat- I had no idea anything had gone wrong for her.

Spongebobette · 27/12/2018 12:11

Amazing really

I suppose she has to keep recruiting to keep some cash coming in?

Why would anyone trust her though? These women fan-girling all over her FB posts can’t know they are following a failure.

Anyone up for some ‘metaphoric hand holding’ on 1st Jan? Only 5 spaces available!
Bloody hell give it a rest Yawn

@9dartfinish2nd which company is this senior bot with?

OP posts:
9dartfinish2nd · 27/12/2018 12:21

@Spongebobette

Nu Skin

Willowsauntie · 27/12/2018 12:40

Iron Bot also moved from her rented McMansion into her old house back in May. I wonder if her hubby will return to work, since she converted him to juiceplus botdom, too?

Bungalowbeth · 27/12/2018 13:17

Are Travel Counsellors MLM?

BangingOn · 27/12/2018 13:20

I hadn’t realised that was their old house, she made a song and dance about her husband renovating a house for them and how they had to move as they were sick of the long school run.

Her husband is working at a gym from what I can see.

SSDGM · 27/12/2018 13:33

No @Bungalowbeth but some of their recruitment behaviour can definitely be regarded as cultish.

Bungalowbeth · 27/12/2018 13:46

Thanks @SSDGM, I was just looking at their sign up to be a counsellor and saw “six figure earnings” mentioned so immediately my radar was set off.

Someone I know had shared a page on behalf of someone else on fb today which got me looking.

In other good news, someone I know and like has been doing Partylite the last few months and is pushing her new year raffle to win £84 worth of product. She’s hardly sold any numbers, which while I feel sad for her I hope she sees it for what it is (overpriced shite) and leaves.

SSDGM · 27/12/2018 14:10

I know of TC’s who do earn that much, they are considered “Gold” Travel Counsellors. There’s also ones that earn 7 figures but they pay employees as any normal business would.

However, you need to be on call 24/7 in a lot of cases and build your own customer base. The big earners tend to do specialised services such as business travel or high end stuff. Your normal bucket and spade counsellor (they don’t like being called travel agents!) tends to earn more of an average income.

Willowsauntie · 27/12/2018 15:19

@BangingOn it's their old house. Do you think she did the IronMan as a last ditch attempt to grow her following?

BSintolerant · 27/12/2018 16:11

In England and Wales you don't need to set up a limited company if you own a real business or if you're an MLM bot who thinks they've got a real business. If your limited company is insolvent and goes into liquidation there's nothing to stop company directors from carrying on a business as a sole trader. Being a sole trader can be risky if things go tits up financially as you can end up being made bankrupt. If you're bankrupt, you can't serve as a director of a limited company until your bankruptcy comes to an end.

You can check the individual Insolvency register online to see if your bot is bankrupt or subject to an IVA.
