Matched Betting

I've started this the absence of anyone else starting a thread on the subject and since the Chat thread will disappear in a month. Hope you think it's in the right place.

I'm still dithering which is annoying me. I've made a new e-mail - hope to get bank account this week. I keep looking at the different websites like Bonus Bagging and Profit Accumulator etc and can't decide between them. Put off by what Tawny said about Profit Maximiser and don't trust myself to do it without help so going for Bonus Bagging, i think.

Took a little look at bonus bagging website but I have to admit the way it's worded does make it look like it's written by a bunch of scammers, I've seen it recommended so I'm sure it's fine feeling less confident about using them!

RortyCrankle · 09/04/2016 10:38

I do know what you mean about the bonus bagging website but I paid to join based on someone on another thread finding it very useful. As I said up-thread - I was thoroughly confused by its first suggested bet and ended up not following it. I haven't been back since and think I have just written off the 27 pounds in my mind but know the website is there if I want to try again.

I have since followed the advice on www.savethestudent.org/make-money/what-is-matched-betting.html and found it very clear and understandable. You can go at your own pace and the Automatcher on it is very easy to follow.

Whatever you decide, I hope it goes well.

Yes, I am going to stick with 'save the student' for now then go over to Profit Accumulator for the more complex stuff.

Can anyone help a thicko with a question please?

I'm really struggling to get my head round the liability bit. So if a lay bet loses - do I have to pay the liability?

Norris63203 · 10/04/2016 17:46

I am having some trouble with matched betting. Can someone please help?

I am trying this for the first time. I am trying to earn more money for my family.

I am using www.savethestudent.org/make-money/what-is-matched-betting.html#comments as a guide.

Here is what I have done so far:

Back bet - Leicester City vs Sunderland

Paddypower - I bet £10 that Leicester City will win (odds of 2.25)

Betfair - I placed a lay bet that Leicester City would not win (odds of 2.30) Liability amount = £12.88.

Result = Sunderland 0-2 Leicester City

Paddypower total return - £22.50 plus £10 free bet NOT £30 free bet like the guide says I should get.

Free bet - Deportivo La Coruna v Las Palmas (tommorow - 11/04/16)

Paddypower - I used my £10 free bet to bet that it would be a draw (odds of 3.25)

But according to the guide I should have had a £30 free bet to use!! Instead I only have £10.

Why is this?

Will it still work?

Should I bet another £20 from my remaining balance to bring it up to £30?

My remaining balance is £22.50

Thank you so much.

Was it because it was Grand National weekend? An awful lot of the bookies suspended their normal offers for new customers over this weekend. You need to check the terms and conditions of the free bet - they probably sent you an introductory email and the details may be on there.

cuntycowfacemonkey · 10/04/2016 20:16

Have just signed up to paddypower which is offering £30 free bet when you deposit £10 but betfair is offering £20 free bet if you deposit £20 on you first bet. Should I do a £20 bet on paddy power for first bet too to make sure I get both the free bets from both or will that mess up profit/losses??

Norris63203 · 10/04/2016 20:53

Hell maybedoctor,

I want to try profitaccumulator but I am hesitant because you have to be very careful about who you give your bank details to. I don't want to be scammed. Can I trust it?

Thanks

RortyCrankle · 10/04/2016 20:54

Diamogs, I'm assuming that is the case.

That's strange Norris. Paddypower was the first bookie I joined and after betting my deposited 10 pounds the 30 pounds free bet became available, except it wasn't one 30 pound bet but 3 x 10 pounds. Savethestudent advised to put all three bets on one match, which I did. Piazza may be right about them possibly suspending the offer because of the Grand National.

Cuntycowwfacemonkey I don't know enough to advise you, I always follow what Savethestudent tells me to put on betfair for each specific match. I hope someone can answer your question.

OP posts:
cuntycowfacemonkey · 10/04/2016 20:58

Yeah I'm leaning towards just sticking with the steps for your first bet as set out by savethestudent not sure it's worth cocking up on my first go for the extra £20 free bet plus I can't seem to find the terms and conditions for that free £20 on betfair. EEK!

cuntycowfacemonkey · 10/04/2016 21:02

OK have read the email and it's actually £20 "refund" on lost bet. Going to stick with the steps on savethestudent. I think it's a bit early on to be getting clever and deviating from the path!

cuntycowfacemonkey · 10/04/2016 21:06

Also do you move on from paddy power after you have used your free bets? Does this only work if you are going to new places to gain free bet offers or can you still profit?

Brysonette · 10/04/2016 21:11

Cunty, what is the exact offer? Is it for the Sportsbook or the Exchange?

Brysonette · 10/04/2016 21:11

Sorry, cross post!

Brysonette · 10/04/2016 21:13

Yes, you need to sign up with lots of bookies to make money from this (and to not get gubbed). I started 4 weeks ago abs am £1250 up Grin

cuntycowfacemonkey · 10/04/2016 21:18

I think it was for sportsbook the email wasn't very clear! So once I've used up my £30 free bet from paddy power I just move onto the next bookie? £1250 Shock Shock

Brysonette · 10/04/2016 21:22

Yep! Move onto the next.. You could do the Betfair Sportsbook offer and sign up with another Exchange like Smarkets? I like Smarkets, lower commission at 2% plus they have a sign up offer where they refund the first £10 you lose with them.

RortyCrankle · 10/04/2016 21:27

With Paddypower I won 20 pounds on my 1st 10 pound bet and 120 pounds using the 3 x 10 pound free bets, so I withdrew the 140 to my account and opened an account with Coral. I deposited 5 pounds, bet with it and won 10.25 pounds and have placed a bet with the free 20 pounds bets on a match tomorrow.

It does mean I have lost on the exchange but I am still ahead.

At the moment I'm scribbling down everything in a notebook, I took a quick look at the Ultimatcher spreadsheet but found it a bit difficult to understand. I either need to have another look at it or create my own spreadsheet so I can see at a glance how I'm doing.

cuntycowfacemonkey · 10/04/2016 21:30

OK have just placed my first bet with paddy power and lay bet with betfair. Bit scared now!!!

Brysonette · 10/04/2016 21:37

I was really worried when I did my first bet, but when it all came through and I found I'd made money it was fabulous!

Diamogs · 10/04/2016 22:05

Wow £125 Brysonette - how much time are you devoting to it?

Diamogs · 10/04/2016 22:06

Wow Brysonette - how much time are you devoting to it?

MaybeDoctor · 10/04/2016 22:52

I find that once you get into the rhythm, it all starts to make a bit more sense.

Deposit money
Back bet
Lay it off
Free bet
Lay if off
You will have won somewhere

Liability I think is like a kind of 'escrow' to cover eventualities - but you do get it back.

Diamogs · 10/04/2016 23:44

Well I have dipped my toe into the water and done a Coral bet and a Paddy Power bet and laid them on Betfair. Just hope I have done them right. :)

freshprincess · 11/04/2016 07:48

Norris - I'm with PA, they are very trustworthy! I pay with PayPal rather than straight from my bank, because I was a bit suspicious at first. But no problems whatsoever.

Byson - that's some going after a month. I've just tipped into £1500 after 3 months.

Agree with whoever said it sounds like a scam. A lot of them don't help with the 'make a £1000 per month for 20 mins works' marketing. In order to make £1000 a month you need to be putting a lot of effort in.
