Concentrix/HMRC and childcare!!!

Hope someone will be able to help. Received the dreaded Concentrix childcare letter in March requesting a years worth of childcare receipts and bank statements. Was rather upset as I'm a widowed mum with a special needs child working 40 hours a week to make ends meet. I pay for a lot of childcare as although DS is secondary school age he can't be left alone without supervision. Realised when I calculated the figures that I had overestimated the amount I was paying so reckoned I would need to pay some of it back. A week ago I received my documents back in the post from Concentrix.
Then I received two payments I wasn't expecting from tax credits into my bank account. I rang Concentrix who said my case was closed and they were unable to make a decision so they have referred my case back to HMRC. I can't get through to HMRC they say I need to speak to Concentrix!! I don't want to spend the money as I'm sure they've paid me in error. Help!!!!!

to be fair it said proof of payment like bank statements showing payments, receipts etc, so I wasn't sure if i need to send both,

I am just going to send the nursery receipts.

Hi. Just read the above. Why are we high risk? I finally got my documents back. 10 days after the letter was dated so god knows where they have been. I called up asked how much longer. I was told my things are with the decision maker and to bare with them as it's the new tax year and they are very busy.
Hate all this waiting.

nikkif80 · 15/06/2015 17:49

Becky bear mine was with decision maker Friday and Saturday and when I rang today it was finalised so ring again tomorrow or Wednesday it will be complete. If they say case closed on phone ask them what the outcome was I had to push for info but they told me why it was closed

m0therofdragons · 15/06/2015 17:54

Rule is that if they give you money and you question it and they say it's fine then if they later decide you have been over paid they cannot ask for it back as you questioned it at the time.

griselda101 · 15/06/2015 18:08

I got my info request letter just today, it was dated 19th May!! Today is the 15th June and they wanted all the info by the 18th!! I called to ask for an extension, he was fine about it but I was slightly shocked that a letter takes a month to arrive from date on the top.

And that he would only give two weeks extension whereas if it arrived on time I would have at least 3 weeks to do it. That said I have the info to get over to them ASAP so it's not so much of an issue. I am just a bit shocked at the delay period.

maryelizabeth71 · 15/06/2015 18:13

Nikki, good news :-) what number did you press to speak to someone? option 6 has disappeared!!!

maryelizabeth71 · 15/06/2015 19:03

Just spoke to them and my check is closed with no changes :-))

I had the childcare check and just sent a letter from the nursery together with a printout of the nursery statement showing invoices and payments made.

Bank statements were mentioned but I didnt send them

griselda101 · 15/06/2015 19:10

great news Mary! I don't think I will send bank statements too then if you haven't and it's been ok, I don't see the point if I have the proof as a printed statement and they said it was ok on the phone to send those. Just hadn't double checked on phone to see if I needed statements as well. I just feel weird sending a year of statements!

babyalan13 · 15/06/2015 19:45

Mary Elizabeth what was your waiting time like? Since you posted your information and got a response!?

nikkif80 · 15/06/2015 19:48

Option 6 was there this morning! And I still pressed it the second time even though I didn't hear it and it worked!
Just now waiting on tax credits to issue my finalised renewal!
When I rang hmrc the option if you had red line was there too

maryelizabeth71 · 15/06/2015 20:46

Original letter dated 20/4 never reeived, they resent 5/5 and I received 8/5. Info posted 11/5 scanned and return 14/5 (I received it back 26/5)

They hadnt looked at it 13/6 and the lady I spoke to said she would look at it Sat afternoon.

Called tonight and the check is closed with no changes. So took 5 weeks from when they received my infomation

janetrussel234 · 18/06/2015 19:39

Hi everyone who got the letter from concentrix, i got mine about two moths ago and which they asked me to bring proof of address, bills, bank statements for 1 year and the people who live with me as i am a single parent and that if i did not send those documents my tax credit will have been stopped as they think that there is another adult living with me , but i did not hesitate to send those letters they requested. Yesterday i got a letter back from concentrix saying Thank you for the information we asked for and your tax credit award is not going to be changed and for people who got the letter should try and send them what they requested for there is nothing to be worried about they are just doing there job.

Beckybear · 19/06/2015 11:39

Just read the above. Why do you think we are high risk?

Has anyone heard back yet? I got all my documents back 10 days after the date on the accompanying letter. It's been over a month now.

Beckybear · 19/06/2015 12:35

Arrrrhh so far I've been on hold 49 minutes. This is silly

nikkif80 · 19/06/2015 13:52

beckybear i have mine completed now.
Got my docs back last saturday. Rang Monday it was Case closed.
Then rang HMRC renewal was finalised and issued that date!

nikkif80 · 19/06/2015 13:53

I thought i would have overpayment, but they said my payments were different by £9 a week which isnt a big enough difference to adjust my claim
Havent had the letter from Concentrix yet saying case closed but i think they take 1-2 weeks to receive!

Mumofyoungs · 24/06/2015 20:02

Sent my childcare receipts in in mid April , no changes in payments yet , had my documents back , but no letter to say if its fine or not .... Do u defiantly get a letter or do you need to ring up ? Going crazy worrying about this and I haven't even done anything wrong ..

Beckybear · 25/06/2015 20:02

I rang up last Friday the man said he was sorry for the long wait and he would look at it after the call. Still had no letter :(

Beckybear · 26/06/2015 20:43

My letter finally arrived. Case closed payments not changed. Thank god that it over. No doubt I will get it again next year.

mazzaT · 03/07/2015 09:41

Good luck with them reading your documents and sending them back. I sent all of mine over a month ago, then yesterday they wrote the same letter, saying I needed to send documentation by next week otherwise they will stop my credits. I sent special delivery too. I don't think they have a clue what they are doing. First I'm accused of lying about my claim as a single person, then they lose my documents, they then threaten to stop my money. Am at my wits end.:(

Beckybear · 03/07/2015 20:31

I've been checked for 2 years running and both times everything is being fine. I'm expecting them to check again next year. It took them 8 weeks to deal with mine.

jessicarabbit0411 · 07/07/2015 21:57

Received an update Concentrix have closed my case. Rang HMRC and they were very helpful and apologised for any distress I have been caused!!! Worry over - at least for another year. Remind me to keep all my childcare receipts from now on!!!

Hi there!

I received a letter about childcare in may. Got the invoices from my sons nursery, filled it all out and sent to them. 2 weeks later 14th may o get the documents back saying will be writing to me shortly!

Hadn't heard anything so called 3 times last week with no answer. So just thought I would leave it!

This morning I get the same Leter I got back in may! Giving me a week to send it all to them? Have just been on the phone for an hour and it hung up! I don't know what to do! Why should I resend it all! Surely this has to be a mistake!?

Help! X

herbalteas · 15/07/2015 21:47

I received the letter from them and sent all the information that they asked for back ie letters from both child care and I have receiveed them back today in one envlope saying they are going to write to me shortly about my child care costs thanking me for my documents. then in another letter dated the 9th of july (only received today) another form asking me for the same information that they have just sent back to me that I had orginally filled out and for them to have the information by the 23rd of july or they will stop my money. I was audited for the 13/14 tax credits and supplied them with all the information, then again in april this year and supplied all the information and now they are asking again. I am a dyslexic and i have difficulties fillout out forms so i never filled out a tax credit/working family tax credit form. I give them all the information they ask me on the form and they work it out. I dont know how they do it and I don't know what to do right now.

Hi

I received a letter from Concentrix asking for proof of my address as someone may be linked to me.... I rang them and they gave me my partners name which isn't the case as I moved back in with my mum after we split and he has his own place. Anyway I sent what docs I had being my phone bill and bank statement showing my payments to my parents as rent as I have no tenancy agreement.

I have today received a letter back asking to explain what payments on my statement are for, one being for my childminder. I never put on my original claim that i was paying a childminder as my son was only going there for 1 1/2 day and was before I was claiming tax credits. The cost works out £30 per week.

I didn't put it as he wasn't 2 yet so couldn't get the funding and thought this only applied to nurseries, now I'm worried that because I didn't declare he was going to a childminder that they may consider it a fraudulent claim has anyone else been in this situation? I just thought you claimed the credits and paid your care out of that I didn't realise you could claim for childcare help to childminders and for children under 1???
