Here we are! Can't be bothered to think of an exciting title, sorry Blush

Nerf
THe thing with the odd crappy days is that you are treating them as steps on the path rather than excuses to spirl back down into debt.
No idea how the tablet got broken BUT I bet the longer the delay in replacing it, the less likely the next one will get damaged Wink

TBH with your meal at Morrisons, I'd have put my food down and left and gone elsewhere - because I'm incurably tight and dislike misleading pricing. Grin

Nerf · 02/04/2014 22:45

Thanks Talkin . It's actually strengthened my resolve not to spend money rather than made me think 'whatever' and go shopping tomorrow.
The kindle was replaced with his own money, and the tablet will either be by the shop (if a fault) or not at all until a birthday. And you are right. The kindle has not left it's case since purchase.

Nerf · 02/04/2014 22:47

I've emailed morrisons to say they need to be clear at the till - I didn't realise til we'd sat down and I'd checked the bill. The boys are such hard work it's exhausting going anywhere together. We are the family everyone stares at: one with asd trying to control the others, one teeny one and one hyper child who falls over a lot. Sigh.

ishesingle · 03/04/2014 01:01

Nerf - complain publicly on twitter. Companies hate that and they all have dedicated social media people. I got two credits of energy bills when I complained on twitter - totalling £140 - a voucher for £20 from Tescos, and £75 compensation from my bank. All from twitter complaints in the last year.

Nerf · 03/04/2014 06:26

Thanks, I have a day off: will have a go.

KinkyDorito · 03/04/2014 07:10

ishe twitter sounds like the way forward then.

Nerf I'm just fed up over the things that crop up in a tight month. Bloody non-uniform day AGAIN for £1. But they only had one last week. I know how you feel with kids; it is tough. DD is ASD and can weep uncontrollably about random stuff (she's nearly 16); now they think DS might be on spectrum too. We have to have lots to occupy him if we ever try to eat out, but it is rare now.

Talkin I think you are spot on with the longer they wait, the more they appreciate. Down with instant gratification culture!

Nerf · 03/04/2014 10:10

Hi kinky, I find it really stressful actually: ds tries to control the little ones, dd has OCD and can't touch things, sit in certain chairs, etc and the little ones are so silly - hyper, jumpy, clumsy etc. and so I get distracted, don't realise the cost at the till and then realise when it's too late. I've emailed morrisons though to say they should flag up the free meal thing at the till if you don't qualify.

But, dm has just handed me an Easter cheque for 250! So will use that for food and fuel over Easter and leave the accounts untouched. Might have some left to pay off a card.

Nerf · 03/04/2014 10:10

Kinky - things like the £1 for non uniform, the cake donations, the charity fun days ; these are stressful.

TalkinPeace · 03/04/2014 13:41

Nerf
Put a comment on their Facebook page ..... I did that with a certain other supermarket and not only got them to change their policy but ended up on buzzfeed (much to the mortification of my teens)
you might even get a free lunch out of it

Nerf · 03/04/2014 16:00

Well waiting for email from morrisons and from currys now. Will use FB and twitter tomoz if no joy, thanks all.

Possiblyorange · 03/04/2014 16:28

Hello! DC3 joined us last week so I haven't exactly been focused on the frugality, need to snatch a little time to sit down and reconcile all our spends over the last week or two at some stage. You can't beat a newborn for giving you a good reason to stay in the house and avoid spending money though!

Off to catch up on thread now.

TheWomanTheyCallJayne · 03/04/2014 16:30

I want to join
Feeling too drained at sthe moment
Has anyone a link to the first thread so I can read through please

Nerf · 03/04/2014 16:35

Congratulations orange!!!!!!
Hello Thewoman - can't link as on phone but will do ASAP.

TheWomanTheyCallJayne · 03/04/2014 16:38

Thanks
We have quite a lot on credit cards (20k +) and other threads on debt make me feel like we're the only ones.
This one hasn't (though obviously I wouldn't wish it on others)

TalkinPeace · 03/04/2014 16:49

THeWoman
You are one of MANY MANY people with huge amounts of debt.
I'll bump the threads you need up to the top of the board.

Nerf · 03/04/2014 17:14

Thanks Talkin - think all your spreadsheets are on that thread?

TalkinPeace · 03/04/2014 17:21

I've bumped the spreadsheet thread too Smile

ishesingle · 03/04/2014 17:45

Thewoman - I have £27k, down from £43k 2 years ago. You are definitely not alone here!

Mum2Fergus · 03/04/2014 20:44

Welcome newcomers and our 2nd baby!! NSD today...headed off for w/end in St Andrews tomorrow after work til Monday. All budgeted for though hadn't budgeted for such crap weather! Hopefully find lots of cheap/free activities to keep DS entertained Smile

puffylovett · 03/04/2014 21:49

Ooh possiblyorange BIG congratulations!!!

TalkinPeace · 03/04/2014 22:06

So, let me get this right, the debts reduce but the number of babies on the thread increases Wink

Mum2Fergus · 03/04/2014 22:12

Jeez, I hope not lol my old body couldn't cope with another!

Burmahere · 03/04/2014 22:17

Hello again!

Oh Orange how wonderful - our very own thread baby!

I've been completely crap so stayed off here for a couple of weeks.

Bought running clothes (expensive Sweaty Betty stuff which I adore), a jumper oh crap just stuff Sad.

Will join back in if ok and try and be better.

Hello TheWoman you are not alone!

Too tired to catch up on whole 30 pages but will do so when the DC's break up and I can have a lie-in Smile.

Nerf · 03/04/2014 22:44

Talkin. I shall factor contraception into my budget Grin
So, I have a pay increase of almost 200 PCM.
Plan is 150 on loan payments (currently 162) on top of current payments and 50 into a 'fun' money pot. What do you think?
