I love reading and now that DS can entertain himself for a while trashing my lounge is 8 mo I am finally getting back into the swing of things. But I always read the same kind of books and so would love to have something different sprung on me!

Here's the basics of how it works (thank you Flamesparrow)

How it works

[ Arti sits back and waits for the flood of recruits, hoping that she doesn't end up looking like a no-mates...]

MrsMuddle - will send the addresses in the last week of May, say by Thurs 28? Sound okay? I can always send yours earlier if you like.

MrsMuddle · 16/05/2009 22:45

No, that's perfect. Thanks again for organising this. I hope it all goes smoothly when we start swapping.

piecenharmoknee · 17/05/2009 00:03

I've also re-read my book. I still love it as much as I did the first time around, although I am aware that others will not see it in the same light as I do. I think the dialouge may be a problem, although that is one of the main reasons I enjoyed the book so much.

I may be over thinking this though - I guess time will tell

piecenharmoknee · 17/05/2009 21:04

I w last post after a few glasses of wine last night - really selling my book aren't I!

MrsMuddle · 18/05/2009 21:08

It's not Trainspotting, is it?

LadyBee · 19/05/2009 20:35

ooh I lost you all - haven't been around much and you slipped off the 'threads I'm on' thingy.

I'm getting quite excited about this. How do we do the book discussions though? without revealing to all and sundry what the books are?

whinegums · 20/05/2009 20:11

Just checking in, and making sure this doesn't drop of my threads.

I'm heading off for a week, and I'm going to try and re-read my book when I'm away. I'm just going to stay with my mum, but I usually get the chance to read (a bit) when I'm there. I shall also be testing chocolate. I shall force myself to do it for the good of the book swap....

Dysgu · 21/05/2009 09:57

Hello everyone.

Just been catching up with the thread - I am about to start When Will there be Good News - just noticed it was mentionned by someone although I picked it up in the library at the weekend (actually, my DP picked it up for me as a random choice!) Is it a good read?

Actually it seems to be taking me ages to get through books these days now I have two DC to cope spend enjoyable days with.

Looking forward to books and chocolate arriving through the post though...

And still unsure of what people will think of my book selection but then, aren't we doing this to possibly read stuff we might not normally choose?

artifarti · 22/05/2009 19:37

Eek, lost you all for a while there!

I've re-read my book and changed my mind again. At this rate you really will be getting Ronnie Corbett's biography...

About discussing the books, Ladybee. The other Book Swaps start a thread for each book in this topic section e.g. Of Mice and Maltesers - Artifarti's book and then people can chat about it there. And then we use this thread for all the "Oh b*gger, I forgot to post my book" type discussions.

Arti, I've already read RC's autobiography, and I really enjoyed it!

However, it was during a pre-DS girly holiday to Antigua, so I probably would have enjoyed anything along with the gallons of cocktails... .

artifarti · 22/05/2009 19:58

Hahaha, tell me you're joking, Whinegums?!

OP posts:
whinegums · 22/05/2009 21:25

No! I really did enjoy it - I will even own up that the chapter about Ronnie Barker dying made me a bit tearful... Tears of vodka admittedly, but still tears!

whinegums · 22/05/2009 21:25

Oh no, I'm not going to be expelled from the book swap before it's even begun am I?

artifarti · 23/05/2009 06:42

Whinegums - you're fired.

[Arti conveniently forgets the time she read West Ham footballer Paolo Di Canio's autobiography during a holiday book famine and got quite gripped...]

OK, if we're in confessional mode, I read Lance Armstrong's autobiography (It's Not About the Bike - catchy title huh?!)when I'd just had DC1 and was desperate to relieve the boredom of the never-ending bfing. I really struggled to adjust to motherhood at the beginning and can remember thinking if Lance can get through testicular cancer and still win the Tour de France, then surely I can raise a child!!

artifarti · 25/05/2009 09:31

Hello Everyone

I will be emailing out all the details this week and, as the email says, can you reply just so I know that everyone is still up for this. A lot of people have been on this thread but some haven't and I would hate the chain to break IYSWIM. Alternatively just check in on this thread and say "Hello, yes please, still interested, etc."

Have finally decided on my choice and DP has been duly dispatched today to track it down!

Ta!

Arti

Lola - I bet that LA's book was quite inspirational. Probably more so than Paulo's anyway...

Itsjustafleshwound · 25/05/2009 16:20

Arti - looking forward to the 1st chocolate book delivery - thanks again!

poshwellies · 26/05/2009 11:51

Just checking in here *waves at everyone

LadyBee · 26/05/2009 23:43

Glad I decided to pop in tonight - still here and still interested although having small crises of faith about my book choice. Arti, be prepared for a last minute swap request.

Maria2007 · 27/05/2009 22:29

Yes, still here & still interested

(really anxious though about book selection... it was a spur of the moment thing the book I chose, so hopefully it wont' be too much of a disaster!)

aristocat · 28/05/2009 00:03

Hi everyone !!!

Have just emailed Arti that still want to do it.

Got back from holiday today and can't wait to start book swap.
Have got the washing mountain from hell, does anyone know how 2+2 can generate so many dirty clothes?

DS will be 7 on saturday and DD was 5 whilst we were away - growing up too fast..................

Looking 4wd to 1st June.

artifarti · 28/05/2009 13:04

Hmmm, well I think everyone is present and correct so far except muddleduck...

...coo-eeee, muddleduck, are you about?

If anyone sees her on ANother thread, send her to my study forthwith.

artifarti · 29/05/2009 12:30
