I love reading and now that DS can entertain himself for a while trashing my lounge is 8 mo I am finally getting back into the swing of things. But I always read the same kind of books and so would love to have something different sprung on me!

Here's the basics of how it works (thank you Flamesparrow)

How it works

[ Arti sits back and waits for the flood of recruits, hoping that she doesn't end up looking like a no-mates...]

Snow not too bad here but DS has had a virus so have been a bit house-bound anyway. And because he has taken to taking his nap sprawled across the length of me (!) not much of a break for reading!

I am happy to delay for a month if others are. I have a big pile of books waiting and am still pretty sick of chocolate!

I am happy to delay until March and will go with the flow...

Hopefully, normal services will be resumed on Monday and I can find some energy to get moving - no more excuses or snow ....

LolaLadybird · 10/01/2010 20:03

I'm happy to delay until March - I also have plenty to read and it may ease my guilt at posting late!

Itsjusta - as long as no more snow arrives tonight (it's not supposed to) then will be posting tomorrow.

FlyingMonkey · 11/01/2010 09:56

I'm also happy to delay until March.

aristocat · 11/01/2010 10:33

delaying our next posting will be fine with me - happy to post or not post

muddleduck · 11/01/2010 10:43

I'd be happy to delay a month.
I haven't started my book yet as I started reading something I got for xmas (girl with the dragon tattoo).

Dysgu · 11/01/2010 22:23

I seem to be so far behind.

Sorry arti - yes, of course you send me books and chocolate - which was lovely!

PistachioLemon sorry - but I have finally managed to post book (and chocolate) today - so very late! We have been totally flummoxed by the snow - schools are finally going to open tomorrow and then more snow is forecast.

(Male) staff dug out our school today - well, just enough to make it possible to get in. We shall probably all be wearing our coats though as the heating is unpredictable at the best of times - comes from teaching in a 200 year old building I guess.

I too am all for delaying the next posting until the beginning of March - I may even be able to be on time for that one.

I have started the current book - can't recall MN name of the owner - so that is progress as I have barely managed to open the previous two. So this extra time will hopefully give me time to catch up and be a bit more organised.

LolaLadybird · 12/01/2010 16:34

Itsjusta - I posted yesterday so should be with you tomorrow.

Itsjustafleshwound · 12/01/2010 16:38

Sounds good ... thanks

TheBuggerofSuburbia · 12/01/2010 19:16

I'm happy to delay until March too - I only managed to post to Stickylittlefingers today, and I haven't received Jan's book yet - has anyone heard from PistachioLemon?

Itsjustafleshwound · 13/01/2010 12:00

Thanks Lola - the book and choc arrived today.

AgentProvocateur · 15/01/2010 09:08

stickylittlefingers book and choc arrived yesterday, thanks. I read the book years ago, but I think I'll need to re-read it to remember much about it!

TheBuggerofSuburbia · 15/01/2010 18:57

PistachioLemon, thank you for the lovely card, book and choccie. All look great!

stickylittlefingers · 16/01/2010 11:57

Hi - I got the book and the choc, thank you!

The snow seems to be being washed away now, which I'm very grateful for. I am so sick of mincing around on ice! The heavy rain is just the weather for curling up with a cup of tea and a good book... maybe if I hide in a wardrobe?

artifarti · 16/01/2010 13:01

Everyone seems to be happy with the idea of next posting day being 1 March, so let's go with that.

Maria - coo-ee! Haven't seen you around for a while. Hope everything is okay and you managed to get back to Blighty in the end! Have you managed to read the book yet (no hurry, just wondering...)

aristocat · 16/01/2010 19:47

i have got 3 new books from Amazon and cant decide which one to start first

artifarti · 26/01/2010 19:36

Tell us what your books are then aristocat! I am reading The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova which is about Dracula. I can't make up my mind whether I like it or not...but I'm 450 pages in so it must be doing something right!

OP posts:
aristocat · 26/01/2010 20:54

hi arti well i have got:
James Grippando - Under Darkness
David Morrell - Scavenger
and
Jeff Lindsay - Dexter by Design

i was looking on Amazon for a slow cooker book and ended up with these

have started Scavenger - its about geocaching/treasure hunt that is made into a game.
ok so far

pooter · 26/01/2010 21:16

ooh geocaching! Does anyone do it? Its great! Let me know what scavenger is like aristo.

I am now 37wks and huge and miserable but am trying to arrange a mumsnet local geocaching stroll - with coffee afterwards. Mmmm.

My only reading matter at the moment is about Hypnobirthing and Attachment parenting etc etc. Obsessed - me?

artifarti · 26/01/2010 22:05

What the heck is geocaching?!

aristocat - as a fellow curry fan you need this book:

this book I got mine from WHSmiths and it's a cracker.

Ah, pooter, 37 weeks! Seems like only yesterday I had lovely big cankles (I was in an August heatwave though so I guess it's not obligatory!)

OP posts:
aristocat · 27/01/2010 12:24

pooter didnt realise you were so near your due date.
the book is fantastic - tha author also wrote 'Rambo' and his books do have a survival feel about them.
have never geocached - its like a treasure hunt arti but you use a GPS and map co-ordinates.

love the fact that i need the book arti . its on my wish list thank you.

pooter · 27/01/2010 12:56

this book sounds better and better aristo - i love survival themes!

I really recommend geocaching - its a great way to discover cool places close to home you never knew existed. www.geocaching.com/

aristocat · 27/01/2010 13:27

you can have it when i have read it.
send arti an email and she can give me your address - if you want to?

was only going to list on eBay otherwise it is stuck on my shelf for 10 years

pooter · 27/01/2010 23:54

that's really kind aristo - i will pay postage though. here's my email address - archipooter at googlemail dot com. No need to bother arti. Thanks!
