Anyone want to join a book swap club?

Hi

All the existing clubs seem to be full so a couple of us would like to start a new one. I'm happy to coordinate if no one else wants to.

I'm just past the no sleep newborn stage with dd and am looking for some inspiration to get reading again :-)

Please post if you are interested and we can start a list.

Big thank you to yummytummy, received the book today :). Have posted yours owlmother, sorry it's a bit late but I'd meant to send Anita Shreve's High Altitude but I've lent it to a friend and have given up trying to track down who! I've sent another great book, hope you like it.
I've realised we didn't discuss choices/who's read what already! Yummytummy I can see already we have similar taste in books as I've read it (and really enjoyed it!) before. I'll enjoy reading it again anyway - maybe we could think of a method of checking who's read what in our next cycle? Happy reading everyone :)

beatofthedrum, glad you received it! but oh no that you have read it already! you know i did think about that as i was posting it but thought i would take the chance? well its always nice to get post anyway. incidentally what did you think of it?

also how would we make sure that people havent read what we are sending?
not sure how if anyone has thoughts maybe post them here?

not sure who is sending me one but look forward to recieving it all the same. do we post the books on once we have read them or do we keep them?

Yummytummy, I thought it was a great book. Read it really fast as plot totally grabbed me, really liked how story unfolded layer by layer. Disturbing subject matter obviously but I love her writing style (think I've read every one of her books!). I almost felt a bit uncomfortable about devouring it so fast given its subject matter - I don't tend to avidly read sex scandal stories in real life :) I know that's maybe a silly attitude as it goes so much deeper, seeing how more outlying individuals are permanently affected and asking the question of how we apportion blame. Really well done.
I'm going to reread it as it's a while since I first read it and will add more then. What did you think of it? A really good choice fir a book group discussion I think.

Oh no, that's ages! Isn't the idea we post the books on each month? As I received mine 3 weeks ago, was intending to send on next week. The thread's gone really quiet, maybe we need to gee us all up a bit??

hi, still not got a book yet. is alwaysrocking around? definitely needs a bit of a shake up. was hoping to have read the book by now but havent even got anything yet. its a shame as i sent mine a few weeks ago. are people still interested?

hi

I've been away for the weekend but think we are sorted now - if I've worked it out correctly everyone should have a book on the way to them as we speak. I've added an extra book into the cycle as one person seems to have vanished. If she doesn't come back I'll send out corrected addresses for the next posting!

Going forward how about we say 20th of the month for posting? that should give everyone a couple of weeks at least with the first book and if we put in our diaries we will all remember! Smile

Got to go do dd's bedtime now but will be abck tomorrow with a post about the book I received.

i still havent recieved anything, could this be chased up alwaysrocking? not much point if not everyone participates properly. am getting really annoyed now as i sent my book a month ago and should have had something by now.

I've finished mine but don't see Veracansign on here and apparently this nickname is not valid so don't really want to send the next book into the unknown, possibly never to be seen again. What to do??

Just to moan that I still haven't had a book yet! (but I was also very late inposting so cant really moan too much) Just a bit concerned that I'll not have time to read it if one does arrive for me in order to send it off on time to the next person!
