Hi

All the existing clubs seem to be full so a couple of us would like to start a new one. I'm happy to coordinate if no one else wants to.

I'm just past the no sleep newborn stage with dd and am looking for some inspiration to get reading again :-)

Please post if you are interested and we can start a list.

I fancy reading that tunise, good choice imo!

AlwaysRocking · 11/09/2011 09:33

I've seen the film of the hours but not read the book so I would like to give it a go.

Misty, I'll pm you when I'm not on my phone but I'm sure we can sort something out so you can join.

I haven't read either of those :)
Has everyone read both of rosamund lupton's books? I have both 'Sister' and 'Afterwards'...
If have read those or not to your taste..speak up, I have plenty more! :)

beatofthedrum · 11/09/2011 18:27

Not read them! We're doing well so far!

MistyB · 11/09/2011 19:44

I've got The Unnumbered by Sam North to offer.

tunise · 11/09/2011 20:26

I haven't read any of the books mentioned, am really looking forward to starting and reading some new stuff!

yummytummy · 12/09/2011 12:30

hi all cant wait to start. just wondered though is there anything people arent keen to read? i will read most things apart from chick-lit. its just so dumbed down and mindless to me. any other preferences?

tunise · 12/09/2011 15:07

Good point Yummytummy, the only things I'm not keen on would be child abuse misery books or horror that's too graphic, I'm a sensitive type Blush
and tend to spend far too long replaying disturbing stuff in my mind, other than that happy to try anything.

beatofthedrum · 12/09/2011 17:08

I agree, would not read any biographies or fiction of horrendous childhoods etc. I'm really looking forward to sharing the books mentioned. So do we read then add our thoughts/discussion points and the group members who've already had the book join in? So over the year we'll contribute to 12 threads?

tunise · 12/09/2011 18:29

beatofthedrum - yes I think having had a quick look at other groups threads that is the case.
What we also need is a group name to help us find each seperate book thread, any ideas people?Smile

Crystalmom · 13/09/2011 12:42

I agree with the unhappy childhood memoirs..They tend to stick in my head and torture me for ages. I'm not in denial (being a survivor myself) but I'd rather not read it.
I'm looking forward to this :) X

Biggem · 15/09/2011 21:34

Anymore spaces...pretty Please!?
My 4 month old has just returned to the land that sleep forgot and I am desperate to start reading again!

beatofthedrum · 17/09/2011 07:25

I'm sure this one left - welcome! I know just the feeling of the excitement of getting back into books after newborn craziness :), my ds is 8 months now and it seems such a treat to have enough energy to read in bed for hours again!

Biggem · 17/09/2011 22:34

Yaye Yaye Yaye! I have to say I haven't read any of the suggested books and adverse to chicklit too :D

beatofthedrum · 22/09/2011 12:51

Has everyone pm'd AlwaysRocking? Looking forward to getting started :)

Caffeinefiend · 22/09/2011 17:43

Is this starting soon? :) (This is crystalmom btw)...

AlwaysRocking · 24/09/2011 23:08

Hi

There is one space left biggem. I have only had addresses from about half the group, I'll m the missing people tomorrow and then we can get started!

OP posts:
AlwaysRocking · 25/09/2011 16:44

I have messaged everyone asking for the missing addresses, I will send round details of who to post to first by the end of this week anyway, if anyone gets back to me after that we can slot them in for next month. I'm just mulling over my book choice and will try to decide tonight!

beatofthedrum · 25/09/2011 19:25

Thanks AlwaysRocking, appreciate you doing the work!

AlwaysRocking · 02/10/2011 19:18

hi

i've just pm'd you all with details of who to post your books to - we seem to be down to 9 members so it won't quite last the year, but enough to be going on with! Shall we keep discussion on this thread for now? we can always start separate ones for eack book once more people have read them.

coni336 · 03/10/2011 09:27

Hi, is it too late for me to join?

seeker · 03/10/2011 09:30

I'd love to join- or will extras at this stage screw things up?

Caffeinefiend · 03/10/2011 11:32

Book all ready to post...just have to get to post office (How I miss the days of local post offices!) Forgot to add note inside because little one was wrestling me at the time but wrote mumsnet book swap on back of envelope! :)
I'm finding this exciting because I have no idea what book I'm going to receive..Maybe that's a little sad but I don't care!

Biggem · 04/10/2011 13:36

Found the thread after losing it!! Will post my book this week, Tis a oldie but one i completely and surprisingly fell in love with :)
