RPOC after miscarriage- what happens next?

LO1418 · 15/12/2024 18:10

Hi, Im hoping for some advice if possible. I was 8 weeks pregnant and miscarried two weeks ago. I have retained products of 17 mm. I have another scan next Friday. I stopped bleeding one week ago.

Does anyone know if I will need medical intervention at this point if the ROPC are still present? My pregnancy test was very light today but I haven't lost anymore blood/tissue since my scan so confused as to why my test is so much fainter?

Does anyone know if you can ovulate and concieve with ROPC?

Thanks so much in advance x

@KT199 wow that is blazing isn't it. I would try and get EPU to monitor you. Has your loss been sent off to the lab to be tested? Mine was this at 16 days post MVA.

I know for a fact they don't like doing MVA/ D&Cs close together unless they really really have to. Hopefully you will get rid of the extra tissue with your next period. Ring EPU and say tests are blazing positive still and you are worried. Ask them to do a HCG blood test to see where your levels are at and see if they are dropping. They will have to perform them each week or every two weeks to see if they are lowering. X

Yeah, never thought I’d want to see my lines decline so desperately 😔, I’m 15 days post MVA this morning and that’s when I did the tests. I did give them a call this morning, but won’t even consider a rescan until it’s been 3 weeks. I think it was yeah, from what I remember of the day I’m sure that’s what I consented to.

BabyBorn · 22/01/2025 14:30

Hopefully the report will come back normal. Mine came back as a partial molar pregnancy. That's why my HCG sky rocketed.

EPU are so bloody frustrating aren't they. I got them to do my HCG before Xmas and I begged and pleaded. Said it was really effecting my mental health and they did it x

I may ring them in desperation and just explain how much anxiety it is causing me.. I have come back to work this week but just feels wrong when it’s still on-going. I completely get that it’s their policy but mines not just a faint positive and is showing absolutely no signs of shifting itself as I only loosing spots here and there of old blood.

How long did it take for your testing to come back out of interest? I suspect they won’t have my results as of yet

BabyBorn · 22/01/2025 14:41

Yes I would too. They don't seem to care and mine had the same attitude too. Mine wasn't blazing positive either but I was worried because we were just started the Christmas period where everything was shutting down for two weeks and my mental health couldn't wait that long.

Well, the report had come back and I hadn't got a phone call to tell me that the pregnancy had been abnormal! It was only because I rang them just shy of a day before i got to the 3 week mark that the nurse looked at my notes and saw the report! So god knows when I would have had a phone call to tell me! X

I just tried again and they’re firm on the 3 week rule, so I will just wait and try to stop testing until next week. It’s just hard when you just want to see it look like it’s moving in the right direction! I did also ask about my testing and they said there’s nothing on there yet and it just depends how busy the lab is. Time will tell, but I’m not a very patient person 😂😂

Very annoying they didn’t think to call you, you’d expect it if the results were fine but not if it flagged something!

BabyBorn · 22/01/2025 15:18

Aawww, I know exactly how you feel and it's really not nice. Yeah do that. Don't test and try and take your mind off it for a while. So hard I know! I just watched box sets and weekends and my 2.5 year old keep me busy when she wasn't at nursery. It's so hard. Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on x

@KT199 just jumping in, hi! I had a similar blazing positive 3 weeks after my mife/miso for a MMC, they found a thicker lining remained but no RPOC, my HCG just took ages to come down (it was twins to be fair). I tested negative after 5 weeks then got my period at 6 weeks. Hopefully you're also just taking a little while for your HCG to come down 💛

Hello, so sorry for your losses. How heartbreaking. Thank your for sharing your story, the EPU have agreed to scan me Monday after I finally got through to someone who would listen so fingers crossed it is the same as you, although mine was definitely only a single pregnancy.

LO1418 · 26/01/2025 14:56

Tiredtoddlerma I'm sorry for what you're going through. My first period we really heavy for 2 days, passing clots and then barely nothing which is unusual for me.

I've got everything crossed for you all and good luck if the future xx

Sadly I do have retained products. Just taken the medical tablets to see if it will induce the bleeding and passing of them, if not I booked in for a second MVA Friday!

Tiredtoddlerma · 27/01/2025 21:48

Sorry to hear your update @KT199. Hope everything passes with the medication and you can start to move forward 💛

BabyBorn · 27/01/2025 22:02

So sorry @KT199. Hope everything works out well and you recover quickly xx

KT199 · 29/01/2025 01:03

Thank you ladies, just want this over with. I’m a little worried that they have said it’s vascular but I will be speaking to the dr about that prior to my surgery as it’s only under local not general.

Tiredtoddlerma · 31/01/2025 12:11

Back in the thread to say I had my baseline scan at our IVF clinic today ready to prepare for another embryo transfer, and they spotted some suspected vascular RPOC 😟 despite testing negative and despite having a period and ovulating today. If it doesn't come out with my next period I have to be referred for a hysteroscopy.

Oh no, I am so sorry to hear this!! Got my fingers crossed AF gives you a good clear out 🫶 obviously be prepared it may be a bit worse considering and have some pain relief on hand just in case. Keep us updated xxx

@KT199 thank you 💛 I'm a bit worried if it hasn't come out with one period it might not come out with another? I'd really rather avoid a procedure and who knows how long the wait times are for that. It's agonising how long this is all taking when I asked for a D&C initially but was told they didn't have the beds! It's literally 1cm stopping me from moving forward, don't understand why that won't leave on its own?!

Completely get that and it’s so valid. I would have the same worry. Would you say your period was normal or heavy or light? If I’m being too TMI absolutely don’t have to answer that!! Just thought if it was on the lighter/normal side maybe next cycle it will be a tad heavier and get things resolved for you.

Will keep my fingers crossed for you. But if intervention is needed, really hope they get you dealt with quickly as it’s so rubbish feeling like your life is on hold. Especially when you are awaiting getting started on a new transfer!

I had a week of spotting/light which was unlike me then the period itself was exactly how mine normally are, so I don't think I passed anything unusual. Maybe next time it will kick up a notch and finish the job, I hope so. I'm dreading hearing what the hysteroscopy wait times could be - this could set us back a year or more!

I would like to think they would look to schedule it pretty soon for you, as the main reason to remove the tissue is due to risk of infection. Is there anyway you could ask to be put on the waitlist now and be rescanned after your next period.. then if it’s not needed they could cancel and offer the slot to someone else?

MishalAhsan · 01/02/2025 15:02

I had this type of discharge from last few date.. My period date is 1st January.. Is this pregnancy discharge... Plz reply... I didn't do any test... I want pregnancy badly..

KT199 · 09/02/2025 21:02

Hey @BabyBorn I wondered if you remembered how long you were getting your faint lines for? I’ve had lines similar to the one you showed me on the other post for about 3 days now. I retested this morning but it looked the same as the other day. I thought because it was so low it would have gone within a few days!

BabyBorn · 09/02/2025 22:05

Hi @KT199 I think it was 4 weeks almost exactly. How are you? How did the procedure go? How long has it been since you had it done? x

Ahh thank you for replying.
The procedure went okay and I’m recovering, thank you for asking. I had it done 9 days ago, my bleeding stopped Thursday but started again this morning fairly lightly. I’m getting faint tests now like I mentioned. After begging EPU last week they’re scanning me on Tuesday to check there is no more retained products as mentally I feel so anxious and overwhelmed at the fact it’s still ongoing and just want to know it’s all sorted. We also get married in a 7 weeks abroad so have a lot riding on this being resolved, as without a clear scan I can’t get any travel insurance so we would need to cancel. Obviously if it’s not resolved again we have to cancel regardless. I don’t think my heart could take that being the case 😟.

I hope you are doing well, are you back TTC or taking a break?
