Blighted ovum experience

We went in for what we thought would be our 7 week scan on Sunday, and found an empty sac
We've been offered rescan for next Thursday and we will discuss options

Ideally I want to naturally miscarry but I'm flying out on a 2 week holiday April so it will be "week12"

Also this is emotionally and physically awful

I just wanted to ask those who have had anembryonic pregnancy before, if you naturally emptied, what week did it happen?

Also should I go medical or surgical if not?

@Pinktree87 oh gosh you sound like you’re in a really bad way. Maybe you should go back to the doc incase there is retained tissue? You poor thing. Awful to still be in so much pain.

I'm actually doing ok. I felt a bit sick for a while after the meds and had the shivers but didn’t have bad cramps. I’m feeling much better. I think I passed the clot just in small bits but don’t know for sure. The doc did say I had only 3 small follicles though so I don’t think the ovary sensation was follicles growing after all.

@Pinktree87 that does sound a bit worrying being in so much pain. I was like that before I had the surgical msnagement and struggling to walk, but have been OK afterwards and stopped bleeding about 4 days ago. Have you spoken to EPU at all?

@Blossomofhope I hope its all coming to an end for you and you're able to still do your plans tomorrow.

I have been OK, back to work this week which has been good then off next week as I'm going to paris with my other half which was pre-planned ages ago but has come at a good time. Looking forward to a rest and quality time together.

Hi, sorry for not replying, I have been in Paris for a few days with my OH. We planned it ages ago but came at a good time really. I'm not sure about pregnancy tests, I did a test on Tuesday (when we left) as well as an ovulation test and it looked like this - v faint preg test. I was surprised my lh was raised so took tests away (oh how romantic!) and it looks like I ovulated a couple days ago as got the peak on Tuesday evening. I'm surprised how quickly it happened tbh. We decided to try again straight away. I didn't know it was possible to ovulate with low levels of hcg still, but maybe it just reduced really quickly. Who knows. Will do a preg test tomorrow morning probably to check its definitely negative now.

They did say it could still be positive for a few weeks.

Are you planning on trying again straight away or waiting? How are you doing?

Ooh that’s exciting. I hope you had a great time in Paris - even if you had endure ovulation tests. I’m def keen to try again but my pregnancy test was darker than yours today. I wasn’t going to bother with ovulation tests. I had a scan a week ago and I only had 3 small follicles so I’m prob at least a week away from ovulating I’d say. I’m still bleeding though annoyingly. Just want to try again 😅

I hope this cycle is lucky for you. Conceived in Paris would be a good story! Haha

Hope you are well, sorry for late replies, I went back to work and alot to catch-up on and then we're in Cancun for a wedding so alot to prep last min as everything was on hold and my outfits were designed for me to be 14 weeks pregnant but had to sort it out

We're also keen to start trying but for now just enjoying this wedding and want my cycle back to normal and then will try

Physically I feel recovered, not so much mentally though
Also my pregnancy test was negative 2 weeks post dandc

Hi, I’m going through the same thing right now. I found out a week ago today that I was 7 weeks but no baby. I have a rescan on 15th to then decide what to go forward with. I’m currently feeling exhausted and nauseous every day all day. I’m sure it’s got worse since I found out I don’t have a baby in there :(

I really don’t know what to go for whether to go for medication or D and C. It’s super scary. Thoughts go out to all of us going through this!

@Blossomofhope thank you it wasn't successful... got AF last week. Never mind. On to the next month. How come you had another scan? Because of the continued bleeding? When I had medical management before I bled for like 7 weeks it was horrible. Paris was lovely thank you, it was so nice to be able to spend some time in my other half. Hope the bleeding has stopped now.

@Pinktree87 that must have been hard having to change your outfit. I hope you managed to enjoy the wedding. I have had a negative preg test about 2 weeks after my procedure. My first period after was so light though and only lasted like 36 hours. How about you? I am just going into fertile week and we are trying this month.

@Zf123 sorry to hear you're in the same situation at the moment. The waiting to find out I thought was the worst bit as I was just in limbo but felt so much grief but still had a tiny bit of hope. Sending you much love.

Sorry to hear you are experiencing this. I remember after DC1 I had a blighted ovum. Around 15 years ago now it would be. I managed it naturally at home but it was traumatic. Not something I would wish on anyone else. I went on to have a healthy DC2. Miscarried again. Then two more DC. Wishing you lots of positive healing vibes🤗

@Zf123 I'm so sorry you're going though this, the time between scans I found was so slow and painful. I cried alot. I am so sorry. Have you got support around you?
Do you need to talk through options?
I went for d and c as I didn't naturally miscarry and I was due to go on holiday and didn't want to miscarry on holiday. If was the best decision, I was super scared but it was over. The girls have gone through natural and medical, you do what feels right for you but here for whatever questions you have

@Pinktree87 @UrsulaSings123 Hi ladies, good to hear you’re moving on one way or another. My situation dragged out another while and I had to go through two rounds of the pills because of retained tissue but I got the all clear on Friday last week and bleeding seemed to stop the same day after 5 weeks.
Now I’m waiting for signs of ovulation and another period before we start trying again for the following cycle. Hard to not feel like I’m wasting time but I know it’s best to wait a little. I’ll most likely try for two months and then do ivf in July if no luck by then.

last preg test I did was Friday and it was faint but still there, I’ll try again soon.
@Zf123 sorry to hear you’re going through this. I wanted to avoid the d&c option but it did mean 5 weeks of scans and bleeding and pills for me so maybe just prepare yourself that it may not be fast if you don’t go for the d&c.

@Pinktree87 @Blossomofhope @UrsulaSings123 Hi all thank you for your kind messages :) in the end I went for surgical management. I Had my final scan Monday 15th and they had bed space for me yesterday which was super quick. I haven’t had to take any pain killers after surgery. I had been waking up with morning sickness every morning and sometimes being sick, this morning I feel absolutely fine. Hopefully I’ll see period in 4 weeks. We will try again after my second period fingers crossed for us all!

@Zf123 sounds like you're recovering quite quickly, hope you're OK.

How many weeks are you? Could they have made a mistake? If not, can they do testing to see why it's happened again?

Hello, I'm so sorry this happened again to you. It's so cruel and unfair 😢. I am feeling your pain. I lost symptoms (sore boobs and bloatedness) about 2 weeks ago and I was googling loss of symptoms and there's always a glimmer when they say hormones are up and down. In the back of my mind, I kind of knew but was still unprepared for the 6w2d scan last week and they said empty sac. Another scan yesterday 7w3d and they called it. I'm on an ivf cycle and DH was saying how he knew it would end up like this with less than 10% chance (we're both advanced age with underlying health issues) but you still pin your hopes don't you.

It's heartbreaking but I try to see the positives - It was my first positive pregnancy result and I'm 42 and I never knew I could get ever get pregnant
