Dr Shehata advice

Hello, I am currently experiencing my 3rd consecutive miscarriage and my 2nd MMC. I have been told I will now be referred to the RMC unit but due to my age (42) i think I need to go privately and I was wondering what your opinions are on Dr Shehata? I've heard he has a brilliant reputation but is quite focused on NK cells and less on other things. Can anyone share their thoughts, opinions experiences?
My first pregnancy was healthy and resulted in my 6 year old boy but the last 2 MMC we saw a heartbeat at 6 weeks but then no growth or heartbeat at 7/8 weeks.
Many thanks for reading

@Hope646 thanks for replying - yes they said to me you can have it any day from CD1 up until 3 days before ovulation, so hopefully if my period starts over the weekend the timing will be fine. The only thing I worry about is that my ovulation is super late (sometimes CD28) so will the intralipids have worn off by then if I had them on CD1 or so? But I guess I'll have the pred to target the NK cells after ovulation. Yes this will be my first TTC month under Dr S's protocol! I'm actually quite excited but I know I shouldn't be too hopeful given it took us 5 months to conceive the last time.
I see you're on your second month of TTC under his treatment, how did month 1 go? We have used pre-seed before (and will always use now when TTC) as feel we have to take all the steps to increase our chances as much as possible! I find it fine to use but you have to put it in about 15 minutes before sex, so timing that part is a bit strange haha.

@MeganBistram this is INCREDIBLE NEWS!!!!! What an amazing result from the bloods. You’ve obviously got a strong little bean in the there :)). Hoping the wait until the 30th doesn’t drag too much for you. Keeping everything possible crossed! Xx

@Lily1990 how exciting to get going again. We can try from next month and while I’m apprehensive, I’m also really excited to get going and see what happens!

@JandL2020 you poor poor thing. I’m sorry you’re in so much pain. How are you feeling today? Have the clinic given you any ideas as to what might be causing the pain? Really hoping you feel better soon. X

@Hope646 as far as I’m aware you only have the Humira if you’re diagnosed with high NK cells and your immune system needs suppressing. Don’t worry that it wasn’t prescribed for you. If you’d needed it he most definitely wouldn’t have skipped that step.

CarpeDiem75 · 16/06/2023 22:12

Hi! I was wondering if one of you is seeing Dr Shehata as a NHS patient? If yes which hospital is this? Thank you!

MeganBistram · 17/06/2023 07:25

@CarpeDiem75 i think we are all private but I know you can see him on NHS. If you look up CRP clinic it will have the details on there

@Hope646 I get confused about what is for what.. I think I had humaria because my th1/th2 were really elevated… but who knows lol

@Lily1990 i think they just keep it safe to say the intralipids are 1 month I am sure a few days either side will be fine. Do you have implantation issues or does it tend to be later?

It’s such an exciting and daunting time. For the last five months since I saw dr. S all I have wanted to do is get pregnant. Now I am.. I remember the fear :(
I has slightly more discharge and night sweats last night and I then went into overdrive.. it’s just so hard to believe that a few drugs and drips can actually mean we can successfully have another baby if you know what I mean xxx

JandL2020 · 17/06/2023 12:41

@KatyTTC much better thank you. They didn’t but I don’t think it is related to be honest. Even my IVF consultant said he doesn’t think it’s the metformin.nI need to go to my GP really especially if it happens again.

@Hope646 the humira I was told were for if the TH1/TH2 cytokine ratio was imbalanced. Mine were. And it apparently impacts implantation. Which makes sense with my ivf early losses which grade A embryos and natural ectopic.

@CarpeDiem75 I’ve read somewhere someone having NHS, someone getting a cancellation. It’s worth seeing if your local
hospital will refer. I imagine it will need to be Epsom or close by where they cover.

@MeganBistram great numbers. Finished crossed now.

I’m currently packing for Glastonbury Festival. Hopefully just forget about things for a few days and enjoy myself as much as I can. Next ivf cycle booked for end of July …feels like a lifetime away, and hoping for a miracle natural conception before this to save thousands (unlikely)

Hope646 · 18/06/2023 22:16

@Lily1990 I was quite excited too and trying to still stay positive for my next try. But hayfever is killing me. It is really affecting my health severely right now. I am worried for our try week if it stays this bad.

hmmm there wasn’t much of a symptoms. At times I was feeling tired but I am not sure if that was due to workload or was it the medication. Progesterone was causing cramps during the first few days of taking it. Nothing major.
I bought the preseed and got the clear blue ovulation kit ready. We will be following the SMEP method this time. So I feel like we are doing everything we can 😂 good luck for your try. Stay positive ❤️

@MeganBistram ah ok. Mine was normal. That makes sense now.

@JandL2020 thanks for the clarity. It makes sense now. Hoping it is under normal range for you now? Have the best time at Glastonbury. You are doing the right thing for giving yourself this short break before it all starts again 🤗

JandL2020 · 20/06/2023 08:04

@Hope646 thank you 🙏🏻 hope the hayfever gives you a break. Best of luck for your next cycle xx

Hope646 · 20/06/2023 15:12

Hi lovely ladies.. I hope you are all well.
Quick question to all…

So I am on the 9th day of my cycle. I started using clear blue OPK test yesterday evening, it was blanked face. And just this afternoon, I did another test.. i got solid face. Usually I get flashy face 2 days in a row and solid face on day 11 or 12. This is the second month I am using the same batch of OPK. I am hoping it’s ok to use the same batch (there are 50 in a box- assuming it should not be restricted for 1 cycle?)

Has anyone experienced this type of results before? Blank and next day solid? My cycle is usually regular (28 days). Not sure why I got solid face this early. Could it be because of the 2-3 days of period delay after stopping progesterone? Should I trust and follow this OPK test? Or stick to my usually day 13-14 ovulation cycle.

JandL2020 · 20/06/2023 15:16

@Hope646 yes I’ve gone straight from blank to solid…so exciting isn’t it 🤣

so CRP have emailed me my results. Only have one slightly raised by .1 so hopefully won’t need next lot of injections (also not keen)
the clinic didn’t book in my follow up appointment via zoom now they are only offering face to face which I can’t do. I’m so annoyed as they gave me an appointment card

I feel with amount of money spending here - this is just appalling?! I always seem to be really unlucky with clinics 😩 no one seems to care and I’m just an ATM. Today I feel like crap to be honest.

hope everyone is not as grumpy as me lol xx

Hope646 · 20/06/2023 16:25

@JandL2020 thanks for the reply. yes i would usually feel excited but this is confusing. I am using the same holder from last cycle and if I wasn’t taking progesterone and my period was on time, then I would normally get the solid smiley face today.

but my period was delayed due to progesterone, I am just wondering whether the holder is based on the memory/ data it records or whether it is truly based on my current LH surge.

should I just trust this test?

@MeganBistram how was your OPK outcome on your second cycle after you stopped progesterone? Did you get solid face earlier?

I am so sorry I know I am over complicating it. This is TMI but my ovulation was supposed to be this coming Monday. Been feeling unwell. I don’t think we can DTD everyday until Monday. If this test is reliable, then 3 days in a row from today should be enough 😂

Hope646 · 20/06/2023 16:29

@JandL2020 I am surprised they have stopped zoom meetings. I am sure not everyone lives around London. They should think about patients all over the country.
I know exactly how you feel. I do feel like an ATM to them. One of the ladies who works there did mention I can do the 3 months blood tests (kidney, liver function, full blood count and blood clot) through the GP. Get progesterone and prednisone through them also. I know it’s not much but it will still be a small saving

JandL2020 · 20/06/2023 17:26

@Hope646 they haven’t stopped them. They just didn’t book it in and then my slot was taken. He prefers face to face and will only do face to face at Harley street 🤷‍♀️
I’ve used the same clear blue holder makes no difference unless it’s really old. See nobody suggested that to me…just really pushed for the bloods to be done by them. It’s only when I said (and was in front of other people in reception when I was passed the invoice) that most of these can be done by my GP you know! And also even the ones that can’t be done by GP. Nuffield health is cheaper quite significantly for the same tests.
I find it hard to trust any clinic now as I’ve bad experience with other clinics
perhaps that makes me a bit defensive but nobody would blame me when you know my history Xx

MeganBistram · 21/06/2023 08:46

@Hope646 I never got on with the clear blue ones. I just used the LH strips from Amazon... I did one time do the clear blue on the day I got my surge on the strips and it was a solid face so maybe I don't get the pre surge bit to make them flash lol. I would say for it to be solid you had your surge and its go time :)

I didn't have much change post my first month of trying, but then my periods are short so when I stopped the meds, I came on day 26 which is normal for me.

@JandL2020 I feel you... I love CRP for giving me a plan.. but also cant help but think alot is about making the money, otherwise why wouldn't you let me do my intralipids 20 mins from my house for half the price.

I have got progestrone from the docs now and also the blood tests so only paying for the others.

5 weeks 1 day.. and not going to lie feel rough, I don't know if its because I know about it so early this time but I can confirm the steroids are not dulling the hungover feel yet but also on the plus side I am not that hungry yet either :) xx

Also I live in a constant anxiety bubble. My boobs hurt and now they don't do been worrying about that all week... xx

Lara8 · 21/06/2023 15:28

@KatyTTC @KamoHel @MeganBistram @JandL2020 just wanted to say a big thanks for the reassurance last week when I was having my humira panic. I got over my infection on antibiotics and will take the second jab today. Hopefully no more infections! I was so anxious those poor nurses got bombarded with emails from me!

@JandL2020 so pleased you don’t need a second round of jabs!!! Great result!

MeganBistram · 22/06/2023 07:19

@Lara8 amazing news that you’re back on the mend. How did the second jab go? Hopefully that’s the last of the pain now

@JandL2020 definitely sounds like you won’t need a round 2 of the jabs which is great. I know it’s annoying but as soon as you get phase 2 things get easier as they have a lot more appointments than they have for Dr. S as the nurses and obs take over xx

JandL2020 · 22/06/2023 08:10

@MeganBistram I’m not sure whether he will suggest a second round or not based on this result below
I’m fairly pleased they have come down but I’m not sure if it’s enough?
hope everyone is okay. I’m struggling with Glastonbury and the toilet situation arghh 🤣 xx

Dr Shehata advice
MeganBistram · 22/06/2023 10:18

It think he will be fine, I went from 42.5 to 35.5 so still far to over and 19.2 to 17.6 again to over so I had to do them again :)

OMG have the best time, it is warm enjoy that music and lots of drinkies xx

Hope646 · 25/06/2023 17:40

Hello lovely ladies, how are you all doing?

@MeganBistram how are you feeling? Looking forward to your scan on the 30th?
Just to share my experience with advanced clearblue ovulation tracker. So as I mentioned here few days ago how I got solid smiley face on cd9 which was quite early for me. We still DTD during the week but couldn’t believe the tracker especially feeling it’s not using the actual hormone surge but the memory recorded from last cycle which is not accurate anymore after delayed period. So I bought another batch of advanced clearblue tracker from boots and been testing from CD10 (today I am on day 14) and each day it’s been showing flashy face. Again couldn’t be convinced with it. Based on my cycle, I should be ovulating now. So guess what I tested it on plain water today and it still showed flashy face 😂it’s a joke and waste of money. How can it show high fertility on water. Can you please share which tracker you used as I don’t believe these digitals anymore?
i have been stressing myself for no reason over these tests. Questioning whether i have ovulated or not. It’s rubbish.
I also don’t know whether I started taking the meds at the right time as I was told to start taking it once I see solid face. With these unreliable tests I don’t know when that actually was. But I still started taking it from CD11.

MeganBistram · 26/06/2023 09:25

@Hope646 how annoying. I cant beleive you got a smiley face from water. I never got on with them and so I went with the below :

Easy@Home 25 x Ovulation Test Strips, Ovulation Predictor Kit, Powered by Premom Ovulation Predictor iOS and Android App, 25 LH Strips - from amazon £8, I tested for about 5 days a cycle and found on my LH surge day that an evening test was far more accurate.

I have been feeling like utter crap. I have never had early morning sickness ( not actually been sick but the hungover constant vibe ) this early, definitely not with my son. I am not sure if its the progestogen bringing on the symptom's early as never taken it before.

Obviously then my mind went to it being a molar.. so Friday cannot come soon enough to see if its Viable or not. The pressure I feel in this pregnancy is next level. All you want to be in pregnant and then the moment you are its all just filled with dread. Oh how I wish I could go back to the naive innocence I had when I had my son xx

KatyTTC · 26/06/2023 09:35

@Hope646 thank you for sharing. How frustrating. You should write to clear blue and get your money back. What a load of
bollocks getting flashing with water! Makes me so cross.
Has anyone done temp charting too? Seems like such a faff to me but maybe it would help with accuracy for taking drugs?

@MeganBistram Im sorry you feel so rubbish. Let’s hope that means it’s a good, healthy baby causing such a strong reaction! You must be counting the seconds until your scan. Thinking of you all the time!

@JandL2020 Glastonbury looked INSANE
this weekend and weather was just incredible for you! I’m so jealous! Hoping you had the best weekend and really let your hair down. Totally deserved

xx

Hope646 · 27/06/2023 15:30

@MeganBistram I am sure all these strong signs will only mean a healthy baby. I am counting the days for you. you are always on my thought.
Thanks for the suggestion. I will definitely move from clearblue tracker.

@JandL2020I just feel their trackers are so misleading. both batches did not seem accurate and testing it with water just confirmed that. I haven't done temp charting. I will see how that works. I just feel this cycle will also be bfn. so already preparing myself for next one.

JandL2020 · 27/06/2023 16:11

@KatyTTC yes Elton was amazing 🤩 tired now and happy to be home x
@Hope646 I think it records what it was say before unless it detects changes x

hope everyone is doing okay, booked my next ivf cycle so it’s all systems go next month arghh back on the crazy train again 😊
xx

MeganBistram · 30/06/2023 14:58

hello Ladies

An update as promised. Went to see dr. Edge.. who I must say is absolutely lovely. Baby was measuring all good at 6+5 days so ahead by 2 days and strong heartbeat of 129 :)

I had been feeling like complete crap so was quite confident until yesterday when my symptoms lessened and I went into complete panic mode. Next scan is the 12th so will try and take each day at a time to get through.

so you might have some crazy ass messages between now and then. But for now.. I breath the first sigh of relief :)

They did however see what looks like some blood in my womb so they have asked me to stop the Asprin just in case for now xx

Lily1990 · 30/06/2023 16:35

Congratulations @MeganBistram so pleased for you!! I was thinking about you yesterday with your scan coming up! Great plan to take it 1 day at a time. First pregnancy hurdle is down :)

Hope646 · 30/06/2023 18:04

Masssssiveeee congratulationsssss @MeganBistram so happy for you. This must be such a relief. I was thinking about you all day today. Didn’t want to rush messaging here haha. So happy to see a positive outcome.

@JandL2020 good luck for your next IVF. I have got my fingers crossed for you xx
