Calling all GPs/Mws! Why am I passing clots and bleeding heavily if I am not miscarrying?

Had a scan on Friday because of some spotting, showed a heartbeat and the embryo was fun. Bleeding got worse at the weekend and had a another scan this morning which showed that the embryo had grown and there was a good strong heartbeat. This afternoon I have passed some clots so firstly can the embryo be miscarried only 3 hours after a healthy scan and if not what is going on?????

how are you today, milf?

milfAKAmonkeymonkeymoomoo · 12/08/2007 08:03

I passed a big lump of what must be stringy tissue (sorry TMI!) yesterday and since then the blood loss has eased considerably. Is that it now?? What else is there to come out??

Never realised how gruesome a MC can be Could have done without seeing the sac.. just stared at it for ages in my hand..

Physically i don't feel too bad, but mentally I feel awful. Have had far too many losses in my lifetime and this is just another blow.

milf - I'm so sorry . I also saw the sac and what I presume to be the miscarriage. It is gruesome, and it is shocking.

Have you seen a doctor? I think you need to see a doctor.

If you've definitely miscarried, then your hormones will be up and down.

It helped me to remember how loved and wanted my baby was, and his/her existence was complete, that's all there was to be.

belgo · 12/08/2007 08:15

I meant to say 'placenta', not 'miscarriage' in the first line.

milfAKAmonkeymonkeymoomoo · 12/08/2007 08:20

Thanks Belgo, got an appointment with the GP tomorrow. Will ask if I can be referred to EPU tomorrow and not Tuesday because I need all of this confirmed and some 'closure'.

I really can't go through this again... almost too scared to think about trying again but I know that a healthy pregnancy will be the only 'cure' for the pain. DH and I have decided to wait until the beginning of October then try again. I need a break from all this.

I felt a huge sense of relief when I knew it was all over.

I hope you get the apppointment tomorrow.

get plenty of rest today, be kind to yourself.

Thinking of you milf xx

milfAKAmonkeymonkeymoomoo · 12/08/2007 18:59

I have almost stopped bleeding now, is this normal - to stop so quickly? I thought it would go on for another week at least.

Feel exhausted this evening.

Just done a pregnancy test, the line is much more faint than a week ago so that says it all I guess. Just want the scan now so that I can move on, will be a relief in a strange way.

in answer to your question about m/c's after seeing a healthy heartbeat, yes, it can happen. most m/c's happen as the heart never starts beating, the chances of it going wrong after the heart has started are greatly reduced but still possible. i had a m/c at 11 weeks 2 years ago, i had bled from the start, as i did with dd, and had an early scan, just saw a sac, a week later, saw the heartbeat. but 3 weeks after that, i was on a work trip and started to feel ill rather than pg. next scan confirmed the heart had stopped a few days earlier and it was a missed m/c.

so sorry you are going through this, it is an awful time for you and your family

i had another m/c 3 months after the first, but a year after that, gave birth to ds after a completely problem free pregnancy, no bleeding at all that time.

Been following the thread but not posted before. Just wanted to say thinking of you this morning Milf and I hope you get an appointment today. So sorry

BBBee · 13/08/2007 08:50

how are you?

I did exactly what you did when I passed a sac during a miscarriage. One of the strangest and most confusing and sad moments I can recall.

I went on the get pregnant again very quickly and gave birth to a full term healthy girl.

magnolia1 · 13/08/2007 08:57

Hope you get seen today, thinking of you xxxx

milfAKAmonkeymonkeymoomoo · 13/08/2007 15:54

Thanks everyone, saw GP who said it sounded like a complete miscarriage but need scan to be sure. Waiting for EPU to call me back so it will probably be tomorrow.

Bleeding has just about stopped so looks like everything has cleared out which is something I guess

Went for my EPU scan today and turns out i have had a missed mc - just waiting now for the inevitable.
Will be thinking of you

Theclosetpagan · 13/08/2007 17:53

Sorry to hear the news milf - thinking of you. Take care of yourself.

milfAKAmonkeymonkeymoomoo · 13/08/2007 19:01

EPU can't see me until Thursday so a long wait

Jackstini - I'm really sorry to hear your news, are you going to have an ERPC? xx

OP posts:
Jackstini · 13/08/2007 21:04

Not decided yet Milf - think I will wait to see if anything happens naturally for 2 weeks, then have the op if not.
Just feel that would be best for me for now.
Sorry you can't get in until Thursday - will keep this thread watched for an update
