Calling all GPs/Mws! Why am I passing clots and bleeding heavily if I am not miscarrying?

Had a scan on Friday because of some spotting, showed a heartbeat and the embryo was fun. Bleeding got worse at the weekend and had a another scan this morning which showed that the embryo had grown and there was a good strong heartbeat. This afternoon I have passed some clots so firstly can the embryo be miscarried only 3 hours after a healthy scan and if not what is going on?????

So sorry to hear your news Jackstini.

Milf - are you ok? I really thought that they were going to see you today. Seems so rough, on top of everything else, that you have to wait until Thursday.

I just want t over and done with.

Oh and a friend today announced she is pregnant... daggers through heart might almost describe how I feel..

I know milf - shit isn't it.
I walked past a very new baby today and burst into tears

Ok latest news is the hospital won't scan me, just said if the bleeding is easing of then I have had a complete miscarriage. I had kind of guessed that but would like to have had it confirmed just for closure.

Ho hum.

WTF?? Surely they should check just to be sure??

milf - if you want a scan for closure then make a fuss. They are being practical but not thinking about you from a psychological point of view. Just tell them that you saw a heartbeat at the last scan and really need to see for yourself that this is a complete miscarriage.

milfAKAmonkeymonkeymoomoo · 15/08/2007 18:54

I did mention that I needed to see it for myself but they were adament that it is not necessary. Might call my GP tomorrow (he is great) and see if he can push it for me.

Just seems odd to me as surely they need to check that everything has come away??

Not very impressed with the staff that run EPU.

Did you get anywhere with your GP Milf?
I would definately insist on a scan - sounds like you do need it for closure and surely they should make sure everything is gone for health reasons?

squiffy · 17/08/2007 15:55

that this happened at an EPU

Lcy · 17/08/2007 16:52

Hi Milf - i hope you are ok - i totally understand that you need a scan for closure. Feel sorry that you also had a negative experience at EPU - it is unbelievable you would think that in such a sensitive area they would be better trained. when i was told i couldnt have a scan - i actually booked a private one (i was going to send the bill to the NHS with my complaint letter). However a consultant intervened and got me one - if you have the strength i would ask for a copy of their policy on scanning (they should have one and then at least you will know if you are being treated differently to others).

Thinking of you xxx

That is a good idea to get their scanning policy, will do that on Monday.

Thanks everyone for all your support and ideas, means a lot

milf - I'm very surprised they won't scan you. I think that's awful.
