Magnesium Glycinate

I'm very sensitive to taking anything and had to come off HRT because it made me feel awful.

My aches, sleeplessness and anxiety had returned. So I tried some magnesium. Just slept through the night and DIDN'T wake up with racing thoughts at 5am for the first time in several weeks!

I think I'm less achy too. Hope it lasts. 👏

My initial question has been hidden for some reason!! I have minor stomach ulcers and my question was whether the chewy magnesium glycinate sweets might be gentler on the stomach?
They look like small jelly babies ( the sweets)

Hasn't affected my tummy at all. It's in water.

Anyone tried magnesium glycinate gummies? Or can recommend a good brand?

Do remember that the benefits of HRT outweigh risks for women under 60. You're getting support for bone and heart health.

Only if it's making you feel better, not worse!

Reading this post with interest as I have recently bought these magnesium supplements to help with sleep issues.

I'm just looking at the info on the label and it says 2000mg from Mag L-Threonate. Does that mean there is 2000mg of Mag in the tablet but only 144mg is absorbed?

TIA

Can't seem to paste in the image of the nutritional content, but it's this magnesium supplement

SSD you have to choose one magnesium.
Oxide is good for bowels
Glycinate is good for sleep.
You choose one and take two pills most of the time.
Always read instructions.

ssd · 14/04/2025 21:28

Thank you. The ones i bought just say magnesium, they dont say anything else. Just bog standard from asda i think. One a day.

I know menopause can cause insomnia (I have it) but I do also think both women and men just don’t sleep as well and deeply as we age.

OldCottageGreenhouse · 14/04/2025 21:42

Magnesium Glycinate gave me the runs daily for the entire time I was taking it!

It means there is 144mg in total of magnesium in the serving of 3 capsules. You are taking a salt of magnesium , not pure magnesium (which isn’t an option or I would imagine desirable) so the rest of the capsules are made up of the atoms of carbon and hydrogen and oxygen in it. (Mg(C4H7O5)2

I'm just telling you what happened last night 🤷🏻‍♀️

I agree 100% that MG can take effect immediately. In fact it makes me quite drowsy in 30 mins & also gives me deep sleep.
in addition I use magnesium butter on the soles of my feet which gives me even better sleep.
and I am on HRT
