I'm onto my 2nd month and I'm 44. Feel much better for it.

Moredarkchocolateplease · 24/07/2023 19:32
  1. Should've gone at 42.
Littlemissprosecco · 24/07/2023 19:35

46, should have started at least two years earlier

FuckNuggets · 24/07/2023 19:36

44 I'm on my fourth month.

Minikievs · 24/07/2023 19:38
  1. Should've started at 42. If I forget it for a couple of days (I'm on the gel) I swear I can feel myself turning bonkers just in that short space of time.
RaisedOnADietofBrokenBiscuitsOh · 24/07/2023 19:39

Shit? That early? I thought I had years left. I'm 43 and clueless.

37 - but I have a lot of autoimmune issues which means oestrogen deficiency starts early and I stopped producing oestrogen completely at 35. Now aged 42.

Notateacheranymore · 24/07/2023 19:44
  1. Should have had it from 42. Wasn’t for the want of trying. Now nearly 48.
pharmachameleon · 24/07/2023 19:45

43 but probably should have started it around age 40. I started skipping periods at 40. Went back and forth to my GP a few times and finally bloods showed I was peri menopausal so started HRT at 43.

  1. But it was after an ovary removal. Could maybe have gone a bit longer if not for that.
rachll · 24/07/2023 20:36

For all those who've said they should have started sooner, why do you say this? What were your "symptoms" for want of a better word? How will I know when I need it???Hmm

renthead · 24/07/2023 20:39

I'm really surprised by the young ages here. I'm 43 and don't have a single symptom of perimenopause yet, and none of my similarly aged friends do either (well, the ones I've spoken to about it). Is this unusual?

Exactly this. Signs were there and I would have benefited but it got to the point of near constant hot flushes before the penny actually dropped. Symptoms started when I was about 38 with periods going from clockwork every month to whenever, however and whatever they wanted. Then tiredness, brain fog, loss of concentration, moodiness, snappiness increasingly over the next few years. None of these behavious are me at all.

HRT is a godsend! Just had my first return of symptoms but I noticed quickly (within months) and have had my first dose adjustment in 4 years.

Femalefootyfan · 24/07/2023 20:43

34 or 35, I can’t remember exactly as it was so long ago

FeetZelet · 24/07/2023 20:43

49 in the height of COVID so 2 years at least delayed. Was suffering from high anxiety, couldn’t drive on motorways, my 8 year relationship ended, I could go on. Most definitely needed it earlier, possibly 45 ish.

CircleWithin · 24/07/2023 20:45

43 but should have been on HRT since 40 when I went to the GP saying I thought I was perminenopausal only to be fobbed off with antidepressants.

heartofglass23 · 24/07/2023 20:48

Do you need a blood test to get it?

What if you don't have hot sweats?
