I am 49 and 9 days late for my usually regular cycle. Is this the age where periods start to go irregular?

I am 46 and periods are slightly irregular. It used to be 31 days between periods but now it's 28-32 days. Periods are heavier though.

I'm 46 and have just had three periods in six weeks. The first and last were heavy like my usual periods. The middle one left me feeling like a dried prune - I was flooding so badly I'm surprised I have any blood left. I'm pretty sure I'm anaemic now as I feel bloody awful.

Just before 49 I missed a couple of periods. Then I had a couple, then nothing for 6 months. But this was also the time of Covid jabs starting. I assumed menopause and am now on HRT. I take it continuously in the 25 day version. Although I wasn’t a year post-period, I wa doubt on continuous to have stable hormones for migraine aura. I take 25 days so there is a short break and this might prompt a bleed if there’s still a build-up.

For last 4 months I have had a bleed lasting 3-5 days.
would you call this a period or is it a HRT bleed? It is usually just before my 3 days off Utrogestan, or as soon as I stop.

Are cycle length changes always peri? I'm 32 and terrified by this thread. I have gone from 28 day regular as clockwork cycles to cycles ranging between 21-32 days. Also developed anemia in the past year. I know peri can take years but the thought of it so young is a bit scary. I've also had itchy skin and night sweats before my period arrives..

Are cycle length changes always peri?

No. Medication changes, contraception changes, stress, illness, pregnancy, miscarriage, abortion, gynae issues... However, if changes aren't normal for you, and especially when young, it would be best to see your GP to find out if it's just how your body's decided to work, or if there's something amiss. No one here can tell you.
