I'm so tired of the menopause :(

I'm probably actually post menopause, don't have periods really, occasionally feels like I'm going to have one and some light pink discharge. But I'm so tired of feeling the way I do. I have patches that have helped with night sweats. I have been using oestrogen pessaries for about six years. But I still have itchiness and dryness around my genitals. Some lichen sclerosis too. Sex is out of the question because the area is too sensitive and sore. My relationship has ended because I didn't feel anything anymore, no love, I wasn't aroused, nothing. I feel so sad that this is it for me now. I'm depressed and anxious about everything. I don't sleep well. Antidepressants haven't helped. I can't even sit in a doctors office and talk about it now and I can't discuss it on the phone. I live in a very small town, if I asked for a referral to a gynae I'd have to travel over an hour and I'm too anxious to drive that far, and there's no decent public transport. I just want to go to sleep and not wake up because what's the point anymore?

Hey! x How are you? It’s so so tough isn’t it. Is your GP sympathetic do you think? So a quick update - a more mature lady GP spoke with me last Friday. She’s put me on Evorel Conti patches, but I’m waiting to get them from the chemist. Despite my history of depression she talked about gut flora and probiotics rather than anti depressants. Sadly she’s retiring so don’t get to keep her!

So your GP has just increased the dosage? Did they say anything about your venlafaxine? I just feel we’re very much put through the mill trialling all these drugs to see which works. Do you think it worth asking for a referral to see a gynaecologist?
Big hugs xx

His noodles7,
No my own gp hasn't a clue,,I spoke to a different doctor at the practice on Thursday, and she increased the everol 50 to 75 and says she'll reveiw in a month
I didn't tolerate the conti part of everol so I'm on utregeson for 122 days every month,,,I've just had a very heavy bleed Blush I hope it the everol conti works well for you ,
And no none of GPS ever address my exsisting depression,,,I think that's just the way it is
I really hope you find relief very soon xxxx

Yeah I’m thinking of you coz I do truly know what it’s like to be left with anti depressants and no one really helping you. Keep me posted on how you get on with your new strength HRT. Got everything crossed for you xxx

Martha17 · 18/01/2021 17:59

Yes ,I will ,,also I meant 12 days a month ,not 122Angry
Let me know about your probiotics if you get any information,
I feel we suffer enough with depression ,besides adding in menopause
Also my gp won't refer me to gyne because I had a scan of womb 6 weeks ago and everything was ok!!!!!!
Xxxx

I feel your pain ,I really do , as you know dr increased my evorel patches from 50 to 75 I couldn't tolerate the progesterone part of the patches so I'm now on ustrogen tablets for 12 days at the start of each month and the everol 75 patches continually for month,,,I wake every morning full of anxiety and nervousness ,, I don't really know what to do anymore, since hitting 50 in October,,my life has been full of depression and anxiety
Please try to contact your gp and tell them how much you are suffering with patches Blush
I'm here if you need to talkxx

Hey! Yes, can really sympathise with the anxiety shopping brings. Can’t explain why I get so panicky now. Gets stupid when the girl on the till wishes you a calmer rest of the day!!! Xx

How are you doing now with the everol conti?
I'm having a really hard few days, I feel like a nervous wreck
I'm in constant state of anxiety I don't know what to do anymore xx

Hey how are you today? X The anxiety is awful isn’t it. Debilitating. And as I’m home bound atm I’m sure it’s not helping either!

How are your new strength patches going?

Day 6 here of the everol conti patches. Bit up and down with them! Cramping and bloated tummy. Irritable still!

I recently started taking magnesium gylcinate 250mg. One just before bedtime. The first week I felt a bit calmer than I’d done. It initially helped with sleep too. This week it’s not been as effective and I might need to try 2 tablets. Would recommend trying if you are able to.

Tbh I don't feel any difference with the increased patch ,,,,it will be 2 weeks tommorow,,,my anxiety is horrible
I don't really know what to do next xx

Martha17 · 27/01/2021 11:25

I don't know what I should be asking gp for at this stage Shock

Hey! I’m on a couple of FB menopause pages which are useful. Lots of ladies with so many different experiences. Are you in there at all?

They mention the following specialists.

Dr Tina Peers
Dr Marion Gluck
Dr Louise Newson

Is it worth looking them up. Louise Newson does an App I think.

I just can’t help thinking that the GPs aren’t always the most knowledgeable. Sadly. And we’re told to wait at least 3 months to give these things a trial. Which isn’t usually very helpful while us and our other halves are living with it eh! Xxxx
