Not just the well documented meno symptoms but the little things happening to you that you can only attribute to the peri/menopause years
So starting with the obvious....
Chronic early morning wakening up
The hot flushes
Bleeding gums
Hair thinning
What feel like period pains but no period ever appears
Aching back
Aching shoulders
Headaches that would rival any hangover
Constipation then loose stools the back to constipation
Dry mouth
Weird burning crawling sensations on skin
Really dry skin plus the odd crop of spots
Anxiety around stuff that would never normally bother you
Weight gain despite eating healthier than previously
Low tolerance to alcohol
Chin hair
Forgetting names and words mid sentence or using the wrong word
Despite being blonde sprouting some really thick black hair around my hairline.
Anything else?

Is anyone taking vitamin b12? My sore feet went away after b12 injections, and sore hands got better when my vitamin d improved.

ssd · 08/10/2019 20:36

I wonder how much I'd need to take, if you get injections?

quickkimchi · 08/10/2019 21:25

Sorry, I don't know, you can try oral b12 and see if it helps. I only started injections because I was taking massive doses orally and still my levels weren't great. After a few months of injections my tinnitus improved and my feet weren't sore anymore.

VivLevi · 10/10/2019 19:57

Leg cramps ?
Little enough sleep without being woken up with leg cramps

I'm 52 and the only symptom I have is it's impossible to lose weight. Oh and I feel a bit sad.

I do have dreadful tendonitis in my Achilles though and I'm now wondering if that is to do with peri?

icanbewhatiwant · 10/10/2019 20:46

@TheClitterati the weight thing gets me down. I don't drink any alcohol. I never eat cake or desert. I do eat the odd bit of chocolate and I like a biscuit with my tea (rich tea which aren't exactly indulgent) but I have given those up now too. Still not loosing any. I usually walk at least 5 miles a day too. 😩 I'm not much over weight at the moment. Just at the very top of BMI for my height. I'll be over it soon.

TheClitterati · 10/10/2019 20:53

I just did an entire month of just eating vege, fruit and meat. (A gut healing diet)

No dairy, processed carbs, bread, sugar, coffee, alcohol, cheese etc for a month.

I lost zero weight (& I have plenty extra that could be lost). My gut did improve though and I felt great eating like this, but still I did expect to lose something.

Dee2019 · 10/10/2019 22:46

Forgetfulness, lethargic, alcohol drains all energy even small amounts, confidence at a low, paranoia re personal health, hot flushes, irregular bleeds, prolonged bleeds lasting over 6 weeks at times, vagina itch and dryness, pains back, neck, knees, chin hair,Hair appears fuller n less easy to manage,tired...started at 36years...I’m 4 years in,frequent GP visits along the way...

Whoopstheregomyinsides · 10/10/2019 22:52

I went to GP today with ?peri
Got sore feet, am hot, tired, sleepless, angry. Oh so angry.
GP said no blood test possible but happily prescribed me HRT but I can’t get it filled anywhere so far.

BooseysMom · 11/10/2019 14:54

@AfterSchoolWorry.. thanks for your reply..are you feeling any better? I have just started AF and this has got to be the worse ever run-up to it. The doc won't test my hormones as they fluctuate so much but am so tempted to get the coil fitted, just something to ease this awful pmt and peri symptoms.

The pp who said they get an anxiety cough in their chest...i've had this too. Plus diarrhoea. Lovely. I thought it was a virus but now i know what it was. Just so much fun Hmm

quickkimchi · 11/10/2019 15:28

Could the coughing be the delightfully named 'menopausal asthma'? www.aaaai.org/global/latest-research-summaries/Current-JACI-Research/menopause-asthma
www.asthma.org.uk/advice/triggers/hormones/
My mum developed a dreadful asthmatic cough in her late 40s.

ssd · 11/10/2019 22:32

I'm trying to explain to Dh how my sore feet could be part of all this. He said it's just wear and tear. How to explain to a man how this feels... Impossible really.

Deecaff · 12/10/2019 20:42

My feet are not affected but do have aches in most of the joints in my body - seem to be gaining a new problem area at a rapid rate.
Anxiety- yes.
Forgetfulness and inability to think- yes! I can bend down to pick something up from my bag and forget what it was I was going for.
And the coughing thing- I've had that too. A hacking cough some days at work but then disappears as though it wasn't a 'real ' cough. Iykwim.
However as I've not had hot flushes or significant sleep problems, I feel there's no point going to the GP.

Inthenewsagain · 13/10/2019 13:17

So pleased to have found this thread, many symptoms of the above, I;m not ready for this in my life yet!!

TintinandSnowy · 13/10/2019 14:12

quickkimchi could I ask where you get your B12 injections - private or NHS?

I have sore feet and tinnitus (am late 50s) so am thinking his could be something to look into.

quickkimchi · 13/10/2019 14:59

Tintin I do them myself (after a private gp suggested trying injections). Have a look here: www.b12d.org/

Sore feet improved quickly but tinnitus took months. Hadn't realised either was on the list of deficiency symptoms (although I have no way to prove a causal relationship iyswim). There's also improvement in sexual function.

TintinandSnowy · 13/10/2019 22:54

Thank you quickkimchi - that website looks interesting. For now I've ordered some B12 vitamin tablets, and will read up on it.

Bunnylady53 · 13/10/2019 23:30

Because I had the Mirina (sp) coil in, I found it hard to tell if I was going through the menopause or not even though I had some of the “ traditional “ symptoms. I have been using Evorel Conti patches for maybe a couple of years & have an HRT review this week actually. Some things happening now are hot flushes, itching ( my scalp itches unbelievably but that could be the shampoo I’m using), struggling to remember words ( I always had an excellent memory), aches & pains, hair loss & bloody chin hair! I loath that! I reckon earlier was the peri & now is the actual menopause. I have to say I was incredibly relieved when my periods stopped & don’t miss them one iota!

Bunnylady53 · 13/10/2019 23:32

Ah I have recently developed tinnitus but DF has poor hearing so that could be genetic.

Bunnylady53 · 13/10/2019 23:34

Sorry was someone saying tinnitus is related to B12 deficiency? Haven’t RTWT

BooseysMom · 14/10/2019 13:07

Interested to read this and wondering whether i'll even bother trying to lose weight. My weight has steadily increased since stopping bf at 42. I'm now just into the overweight section of the BMI chart.

I think i might just try not to worry about it. As long as you don't get silly overweight and eat sensibly and do something active a few times a week, that's the best thing surely. I'm not gonna obsess about it any more. It's not as if i'm trying to attract a man!! Grin

Trewser · 14/10/2019 17:21

I put on half a stone about a year ago and it will NOT shift. I'd like to live with it (like booseysmum it makes me overweight not obese!) but I hate being on the end of a size 14.

LuckyElle · 19/10/2019 16:36

How about Oestrogel pump-pack 0.06 gel?
Is anyone on the gel? Does it help ?
My OB just recommended it to me .
His wife is on it too.
Better than patches.
He swears by it and says all his patients love it.

icanbewhatiwant · 19/10/2019 16:46

@LuckyElle I just googled that stuff. Never heard of it. But it says used alone it is for woman without a uterus. It needs combining with another hormone otherwise.
