Not just the well documented meno symptoms but the little things happening to you that you can only attribute to the peri/menopause years
So starting with the obvious....
Chronic early morning wakening up
The hot flushes
Bleeding gums
Hair thinning
What feel like period pains but no period ever appears
Aching back
Aching shoulders
Headaches that would rival any hangover
Constipation then loose stools the back to constipation
Dry mouth
Weird burning crawling sensations on skin
Really dry skin plus the odd crop of spots
Anxiety around stuff that would never normally bother you
Weight gain despite eating healthier than previously
Low tolerance to alcohol
Chin hair
Forgetting names and words mid sentence or using the wrong word
Despite being blonde sprouting some really thick black hair around my hairline.
Anything else?

@icanbewhatiwant
It's normal HRT gel.

icanbewhatiwant · 19/10/2019 19:15

Ok. I just looked on google and it did say gel...but also said use with progesterone gel.

Just thought of one more, blame the menopause for my shite memory.
Silent migraines. Had quite a few, in clusters and this week had some more. And when I think back, difficult at the best of times, they started around the same time as all the other symptoms.

So I get migraines not very often but very debilitating ones that wipe me out for 3 days.
When the silent migraines started I got all the usual warning signs it was impending and then ... nothing. Most odd. Had never heard of silent ones either. Like I say I get clusters then nothing for months, then a cluster then nothing. I am putting it down to meno cos I can.

TheCanterburyWhales · 27/10/2019 09:02

Hello, just found this little section of MN and you've made me feel normal!

No periods for about 4 years and only mild hot flushes and I thought - this is easy!

Now, I am 54 with a body that feels as if it's crumbling- everything aches, joints, back, shoulder- muscles. Restless legs replace achy ones at night. Skin tags galore, palpitations, feelings of impending doom and health anxiety - every twinge is the onset of another life threatening illness to add to the ones I'm already convinced I have.
I have promised myself to book a general MoT this week and will accept whatever the GP wants to give me I think.
I'm a teacher with another 17 years of service to fit in- I can't go on like this!
I'm in Italy and when the GP looked at my notes when I was about 45 and said "righty ho, shall we get you on the drugs?" I laughed, my how I laughed.

LuckyElle · 27/10/2019 10:19

@TheCanterburyWhales hi , I feel for you ..
Are you on HRT ?
Would you ?

milliefiori · 27/10/2019 10:25

Unbeatable lethargy and inability to make an effort to do anything, ever.
Constant fatigue
Weight gain
Unbeatable interest in elasticated waist trousers due to unbeatable lack of motivation to diet and lose weight
Weird growing sense of entitlement: I don't want to so why should I? And: I'm ready to retire and have fun now, work is too much effort. (Only 55 so no chance of this happening.)

One i had in peri menopause which is now gone, thank goodness, is really overwhelming joint and bone pain. It used to wake me in the night for hours, it was so intense. Then it just vanished, at around the time my periods stopped a year ago. Apparently it's quite common, but at the time I didn;t know what was causing it.

Also in peri, my hair fell out in handfuls I find menopause much more manageable than perimenopause.

milliefiori · 27/10/2019 10:27

Oh and massive weight gain. But that is my fault. I can;t claim to be one of those people who eat like a bird and run every day and still gain weigth in menopause. I eat like a whale and lounge like a sloth so no wonder. Wish I had the energy and willpower to tackle this but I don't. Just not there.

TheCanterburyWhales · 27/10/2019 11:08

Lucky- no, I'm not but I think if my GP offers it I'll give it a bash!

LuckyElle · 27/10/2019 17:43

@TheCanterburyWhales be careful he doesn't give you ADs Shock

LuckyElle · 27/10/2019 17:55

@milliefiori and how are you now ?
When you were on your peri , did you take HRT ?
I'm on my peri and just started ..

milliefiori · 27/10/2019 17:59

@LuckyElle - I haven't started HRT. I consider it sometimes but I'm a bit nervous as two friends had very serious problems with it and that put me off. I have more energy - not much more, but some than in peri. Peri menopause was a real mind fog of exhaustion and glue for brains. I'm so glad to be out of it. It lasted five years. I feel a LOT more upbeat now. Still get some anxiety, but my hair has grown back and my mood's improving.

ilovepixie · 27/10/2019 18:00

The usual symptoms I can deal with but I get really bad palpations and they are awful. They last ages and leave me exhausted.

ilovepixie · 27/10/2019 18:01

I wish I had wavy hair! I wouldn't mind that one!

LuckyElle · 27/10/2019 18:20

@milliefiori omg 5 years of that , how did you handle it ? Bless you .
Been peri just for a while and I want to kill myself .
I have read a lot about HRT and it's bad at all . Why would you want to suffer where there's some products that can replace what you are missing ?
I have a friend who was 4 years in a really really bad way.
She had 2 successful business , husband and friends. She lost it all .
She was vegetarian and very healthy so refused to take HRT, typical , like many of us.
Then she started reading about it and began with estrogel . She's a new woman . Her life is back and she always tells me "why didn't I use it before "

I think women as it is suffer quiet a lot with everything, why add more ..

whatisforteamum · 27/10/2019 18:56

I agree lucky Elle why put up with it.I was doing ok.taking.supplements trying to stay healthy then boom!! Struggling mentally and physically peeing every hour and sweating.Been on HRT and I feel my energy may have gone but I've just had a chest infection so that hasn't helped.

ilovepixie · 27/10/2019 18:57

anyone who had come out the other side how long do all these symptoms last?

LuckyElle · 27/10/2019 19:30

@ilovepixie yes I'd like to know too . I hear all different things 😩

Dangerfloof · 27/10/2019 19:37

anyone who had come out the other side how long do all these symptoms last
I'm into my fifth year and no abating of symptoms yet.

LuckyElle · 27/10/2019 19:42

@whatisforteamum we shouldn't .
Tbh since I feel this horribly been reading what all these wonderful women are saying here and I feel much more informed and reassured
It's very comforting .
I have learn loads and I am more sure that I really needed to take something that's why I contacted my OB- Gynaecologist and he straight away recognised the symptoms and the same day I was taking Estrogel .

ilovepixie · 28/10/2019 00:37

I wish my work had a menopause procedure. My boss told he he was sick of hearing about the 'fucking menopause'!

whatisforteamum · 28/10/2019 08:24

Jesus Christ I love pixie that is.awful !what.did you tell him? I told mine I'm on HRT he is very young so I didn't tell him much.I had comment about smells from my male colleague s which maybe innocent but I take it personally.😰

milliefiori · 28/10/2019 08:41

Smells @whatisforteamum ? What on earth did they mean by that?

whatisforteamum · 28/10/2019 10:15

Well I'm 53 but newly having hot flushes or more like warm moments. The other week a lad who was hungover was gagging I think my apron may have tried badly.Later a girl said she could smell cabbage it is a kitchen last week an older man said he could smell shit.He was far away from me but I do have 3 baths a day clean clothes too.😰 I was away of my hair going smelly and greasy overnight but I do wear a.hat.
My confidence is in the gutter.
Even my husband doesn't offer any hugs.or support.!

LuckyElle · 28/10/2019 10:53

@whatisforteamum oh darling I'm so sorry to hear , I'm sure all these symptoms will go soon 😉

Me150267 · 28/10/2019 11:23

Thought I had breezed through (my sister had a tough time). Then last wednesday started a full on normal period after a gap of 12 months. Fuming and yes to night sweats and the itching at night in legs and feet drives me mad. I sometimes take an antihistamine for this and it does work
