Just bumping this thread for you, @Mrslotus Flowers

BigbreastsBiggerbeard · 15/06/2019 19:00

That sounds a lot! I wouldn't have thought that was normal - maybe make an appointment with your doctor?

What were your periods like up until last month?

Drum2018 · 15/06/2019 19:04

Doesn't sound normal. I'd go to your doctor and get checked out. Friend had a similar experience so she got the mirena coil.

cstaff · 15/06/2019 19:17

That happened me about twice just before they stopped altogether. They were also a few months apart. I was 49 the last time I had a period. It was also the only sign of me having the menopause. Three years later and nothing else ie hot flushes etching.

Mrslotus · 15/06/2019 22:23

Thanks you all lovely ladies for replies . Will check with doc.

I am having that and due to my age the doctor believes I am in the peri-menopause. Go to your doctor and ask for a blood test to check for anemia. They also did a ultrasound scan and confirmed I have fibroids but they are not the cause of the excessive bleeding in my case and the approach of menopause is the most likely cause. At 42 I dont know if you are too young for that. See the doctor and push for tests.

Thanks for info

Glad to find this thread and hope to get some reassurance. I’m 43 and get the same, OP. Periods have gradually got longer over the past couple of years. Last 2 weeks, sometimes up to 3. Absolutely exhausting. Blood tests say I haven’t started menopause yet. I have anemia although it could also be caused by my chronic kidney disease. I just had an ultrasound and waiting for results. Iron tablets don’t seem to make a difference. Some days I feel like the walking dead 😄

PineappleFwitters · 25/06/2019 20:19

I went 4 months without a period, then another 4 months and now I've had a period for the last 10 days with no sign of let up. Perimenopause apparently. I didn't mind no periods but periods just go on and on are a different case altogether!

Mrslotus · 26/06/2019 12:41

Thank to all . Its good to know so many different aspects . Makes you feel less worried. But yes its hell annoying when periods are never ending.

After the ultrasound mentioned above, I've now been referred to a specialist - they think the long periods (and all other symptoms) might be due to So I’m allowing myself to feel a tiny bit optimistic that I won’t always have to feel so awful. Fingers crossed it leads somewhere.

Welliesandpyjamas · 03/07/2019 22:15

Ha, missed the actual word - Adenomyosis!

Mrslotus · 04/07/2019 17:02

Thank you so much for info . That explains a lot ! Good luck @Welliesandpyjamas

I've now had a period for 3 weeks and I think it's finally starting to ease up. I'm shattered!

Nearly47 · 04/07/2019 20:33

25th day of my " period". Was taking the minipill but stop because it obviously not working. Had iron infusion because levies were so low. Have booked to have a Mirena por in but not very hopefulConfused

Mrslotus · 04/07/2019 21:51

@PineappleFwitters @Nearly47

Thank you MrsLotus, I came on Mumsnet looking for change in cycle length questions, my cycle seems to have shortened as well, the last couple of months 21 days! I'm on day 11 of my period, still going strong, showing no sign of drying up! I'm 45.

PineappleFwitters · 05/07/2019 12:50

I'm 42 @Yellowiceytek, I feel I'm too young for this shit! But my mum went through menopause in her early 40s so guess I can expect the same.

It's been exactly 3 weeks of bleeding today. It's eased up in that I can go 4-5 hours without changing a tampon, as opposed to 2, but it still doesn't feel like it'll be over by Monday.

PineappleFwitters · 05/07/2019 23:00

I've booked a GP appt for next Friday, as it was the earliest I could get. The bleeding is lighter in the morning but gets heavier as the day goes on and I can't take it anymore 😭😭

BlackSwan · 06/07/2019 18:35

I'm 43 and my period just came after 3 weeks. Reading that more frequent periods is a perimenopausal phenomenon. I'm depressed. Which may also be hormonal.

joystir59 · 06/07/2019 18:38

I've heard from other women this can mark the onset of the perimenopause
