OMG Having a Period After 15 Months of No Periods!

I'm in shock. I thought I had gone through the menopause! I am nearly 57 and I haven't had a period since the first week of December 2016. Woke up his morning with a slight ache in my back. Just gone to the loo and OMG I have a flaming period! I also have a period pain (forgotten how crap they are!). I've only got some thin panty liners in the house as I got rid of all my sanitary towels a couple of months ago. Do you think my DS18 would mind if I got him up and asked him to pop to the shops for sanitary towels? (😀 joking!).

Has anyone else thought they were through the menopause only to get a period after so long?

Hi, How is everyone getting on? I just googled this as its happening to me. No period for 15 months and then a couple of wks ago my boobs were feeling really tender. It lasted for a while then out of the blue pink discharge and very very light bleeding. I have made an appointment for the doctor but its not until the 29th. A bit worried as I have been rubbish with smear tests.

Oh and I am 52.

Yes, I have had a period after 15 months of what I thought was my last one. I started bleeding again on November 14, 2019 after having what I thought to be my last one July 27 2017. I did stain the following year in August 9, 2018 and again August 27-31, 2018.So maybe that was the last one or maybe not. Anyway i had just recently noticed that my breasts were sore days before I had started a flow, plus my face broke out with pimples in 7-8 places and I had a chocolate craving before I started bleeding. All of this was like my PMS I used to have regularly before each cycle. I am afraid and please can someone else who has experienced this reply with hopefully something positive since I suffer terrible anxiety, and stress out so much. I hope and pray that maybe my ovaries were just not quite finished yet, as I noticed a slimy discharge in my underwear before this. Is it possible my periods never actually finished? If it was something serious would a bleed be accompanied with the tender breasts and face breakouts, sugar cravings too? Or would a woman just have bleeding without the other PMS symptoms? Thank you.

Hi, I am new to this thread. Let me know what your GP says. I too had a period after 15 months and sore breasts etc.... If you read my post below,

I think the sore breasts etc point to hormonal activity.
I have had 4 in the last three years
Just when I think I am done
I get a wee surprise.
I am 51.

Hi, I saw that you had four periods in the last three years, have you seen a doctor? And if so did they tell you everything was okay? Also, when was your last period or at least the last time you bled and thought it was your last one?

Hi all, I have been period free for 18 months and on HRT for 10 months . Probably started too soon as I got my dates wrong and thought it had been a year period free before starting hrt. A couple of days ago I woke up with period pain and now I have full on period !! I’ve been to docs and they’re referring me for tests. NHS means it’ll take a couple of weeks at least to hear back but hopefully it won’t take too long.
I also got rather freaked out by suggestions of cancer but I’m hoping it’s just a freak period . I’ve stopped the HRT just in case that’s not helping things and I’m waiting with dread for menopausal symptoms to return.

Hope Icequeen and others facing this are ok. Does anyone have any similar experience in HRT? I’m just not sure whether it makes a difference to periods, whether it prevents periods or delays periods that I might have had if I hadn’t taken it. Maybe that’s why it’s been so long since I had a period. Any views?

I had a freak period nearly two years after my last one. Had a hysteroscopy a week ago, and a biopsy. All fine. Now I’m having another period. Doctor said not to worry, but I thought I was finished with this shit.
