GP did a blood test. Said not pre/peri menopausal.
Saw consultant who said menopause can not be diagnosed with blood tests.
She is treating me for something else and has referred me to two other people I need.

Finished period yesterday. The time between is getting shorter and I feel heavier at times. This morning I am feeling pretty bad to be honest. Just want to cry and die tbh.

I have a lot of stress with no support other than DH who can't understand as not me. People who should and could help, won't.

I feel as well as that I do have hormonal stuff going on. I feel like I did when depressed but I know ADs won't help and I react too badly for them to be tried again.

I take starflower oil for breast pain and Angus cactus for PMT. both really work so I think a menopause vitamin type thingy would suit me. Can anyone please advise and hold my hand.

Badders - I'm sorry to hear about your problems. I can totally sympathise. I fell badly twice in less than a year and one year on from the second fall I'm still in pain most days. Osteopath didn't help. Physio to a degree but not much and private didn't help enough to justify the expense when my children need things.

I feel supplements would work for me as I already take two tablets daily, one would be ripped apart on here I suspect, but I know they work for me as I have missed and paid the price.

I'm very much alone and don't respond well to being forced to act when I'm not able too.

Right now I won't be reading the guidelines as I know it wouldn't even get in one ear to go straight out the other at the moment. But I'm hopeful I can get through this in one piece.

Today I've protected myself in something that is causing me pain. One win a day is a good day for me. I can't rush.

Guidelines are all well and good but some people cannot act on them as their GP is unsympathetic for example.
Op obv has an awful lot going on and for now needs to concentrate on small steps.
Health issues can seem so much worse when other lifestyle factors come into play.
Sadly life is not black and white/hrt solves everything.

PollyPerky · 02/03/2016 19:56

If a GP is really so unsympathetic then I wonder if changing GPs within the practice, or change to another practice is possible? GPs are not supposed to refuse HRT if a woman wants to try it and has no medical issues that mean it's unsafe.

What about a local menopause (NHS clinics- someone posted a comment about one in London)- or private gynaes? one appt might be really useful, and the GP would act on their recommendations.

Im sorry HRT didn't help you badders but there are many different types and regimes so sometimes it's a case of trying lots until one is right. Supplements help short term problems in some women but things like menopace won't help issues with bladders, vaginal atrophy, bone density in a few years, and a lot of the longer-term issues that can occur.

Badders123 · 02/03/2016 21:28

I've tried 3 polly
The last one made me haemorrhage
HRT isn't for everyone
I'm really glad it's worked for you
I've never coped very well with hormonal meds...my gynae even said the same.
He have me the option of ablation or hysterectomy - neither of which I feel is appropriate atm

PollyPerky · 02/03/2016 22:32

Sounds as if you are early days of peri Badders? I didn't use any HRT until my periods had stopped so it was simply a case of replacing oestrogen. I didn't have any peri symptoms until then. Shame you don't get on with the Mirena because some women I know they swear by it, it stops all bleeding and all they need is some oestrogen gel alongside. Hope you find something that helps!

Badders123 · 03/03/2016 07:16

Hrt is definitely something I am going to try once my periods have stopped.
But until then I'm a bit stuck really.

Badders123 · 03/03/2016 07:16

I think I've been in period for 3 years....

Goingtobeawesome · 03/03/2016 11:52

Sorry to hear that Badders.

I felt sorry for my DD when she asked how many years periods go on for.

I know for sure I'm more hormonal than I thought. I am due on tomorrow and today I have wanted to cry from pretty much an hour after I thought I had started. Something that would have upset me in the past has been under control for the last two weeks and yet today I'm feeling emotional. I'm 17 days in taking my new tablets and was told they could take about a month to help so I guess next month I'll cope better. I need to learn not to let things get bigger than they are. And to sleep past 5am..

And now I'm two days late. Joy.

Been to physio and he may have actually broken me! Sad
In other news my right leg is longer than my other so I have to use orthotic insoles now Shock
My varifocals have arrived sonic feeling very old and very knackered Wink
Had a dreadful week a couple of weeks ago - dh away with work and I had that awful virus that's been going around - felt very tearful and low.
I hope you manage to have a peaceful Easter X

Goingtobeawesome · 21/03/2016 21:15

And poor ds1 too!!

Goingtobeawesome · 22/03/2016 08:12

Morning

I had varivocals but couldn't get on with them. My eyes have a problem a few years earlier than usual. I now have walking about glasses and another pair for reading.

DS1 hasn't had S and D since yesterday morning. Has a headache now. DD feels sick. dS1 is ok. DH and I feel grotty. Still no period. Really Confused why. Haven't been late for ages as I can't recall the last time.

Hi there i am 45 I have been suffering with peri menopause symptoms and blood test show I am peri menopause I have recently started with dreadful brain fog short term memory loss which is annoying and upsetting as I have always been on the ball... Have been with private specialist today who has prescribed me venlafaxine, did your friend have memory problems and did this drug help I am a little worried about it I cannot have HRT as I have had a dvt after my 2nd pregnancy 17 years ago ... It is so good to find this website I have spent the last 3 months worried sick that I was starting with some form of dementia .... Thank you

PollyPerky · 23/03/2016 08:40

Fluffy the 'rule' according to my consultant is that anyone who's had a clot and wants HRT ought to be screened for antithrombin and see what their clotting risk is. If the test is negative (meaning low risk) they recommend transdermal HRT which does not add to the risk of clotting (for all women.)
If you've been healthy for 17 years and want to use HRT then perhaps it's worth asking for this screening and taking it from there?

Goingtobeawesome · 23/03/2016 17:41
