Anyone taking Elleste duet?

I've been to the doctors today for my blood test results and been told the menopause is here .

I've got a prescription for Elleste 1mg - anyone out there taking it?

Would like to know your experiences, good or bad.

I also have just taken my first Elleste Duet pill today. After a horrendous 3 months with a really bad water infection, night sweats, palpitations, fatigue, lack of motivation, joint pains and brain fog, I'm not going to complain about the double prescription charge. I just hope they work.

I took this after a hysterectomy, it made me incredibly sick, it was like pregnancy sickness!

I've moved onto Evorel patches and feel fine.

Hi everyone! I'm new to this site! with regard to the issue linked with HRT & breast cancer, I lost my mum from breast cancer when she was 47, I'm now 46 & suffering immense effects of the menopause.I've been down every herbal remedy going & this simply doesn't work for me. As you can imagine with my mum & her sister taken with this disease I would dismiss this drug, however I've come to realise that 'quality of life' is what is important, yes of course you want to safeguard yourself, but to be blunt, you could be hit by a bus tomorrow & not had sex or a good nights sleep in an age?! I'm on my 1st wk of Elleste Duet, still getting flushes but going to give it a bit longer.

Another one here on Elleste Duet 1mg - started taking it about 3 months ago because I was 45 and had been having hot flushes on and off for about two years, but had started the night time ones a few months previously, and felt exhausted and very poor sleep even without the flushes.

It started to work after about a week to 10 days.

I just feel 'normal' again. Sleeping is so much better, I'm not so exhausted all the time, and I actually seem to have got my sense of humour back. Wish I'd done it two years ago frankly when it all started.

I have been taking for 2 years and feel great. I was so 'slow' before, completely unlike my real self. I had a civil partnership in June with my Dear, DP and I know it wouldn't have happened as I would have been too bone-weary to care enough.

Now if anyone knows anything as effective for my arthritic knees... bring it on!

Hi, I've just joined. I have had irregular and prolonged periods for last 18 months sometimes lasting 21 days at a time although not heavy. Also my hair has been falling out for the same time. I have no other symptoms like hot flushes or night sweats. I have not had a hormonal blood test as GP says results are inconclusive while you are still having periods? I have prescription for Elleste Duet and wondered if anyone else has had success with similar symptoms...

I'm 45 and have been taking Elleste Duet 1mg for 2 years already, I know, how depressing is that?! I have found I felt slightly queasy on occasion but other than that, the dreadful sweats have completely gone. I was put on the 'bleeding' HRT due to being so young, get that LOL!!! As it's advisable to bleed to protect your uterus. I noticed somebody mentioned herbal alternatives but wanted you to be aware that Oestrogen helps to prevent osteoporosis, regulates your cholesterol (of which mine was high and I'm slightly below adverage weight) which in turn, protects your heart!! Go for it I say, I feel back to normal although am now missing the odd period so think it needs 'upping'.............why suffer is what I say ;)

Whilst I took all the white tablets in the packet I felt okay. Night sweats disappeared and I have been able to sleep much better. Then I started taking the green tables last week. Every day I have felt so sick that I have had to stop taking them. I don't think this tablet is for me. Have not take one today, there has been no bleeding but I have felt bloated all the time.

Hi ladies, I've just joined today! I'm 45 & have been to the Drs today for blood tests & been prescribed Elleste Duet. For the past year my period was sometimes longer, shorter, heavy, light, late or early & now no period at all for 2 months. I've had over the past 6 months sleepless nights, flushes, mood swings, knee joint pains, sore breasts & tearful/emotional. I've also been off sex for a long time & when I do it for my husbands sake, it hurts. But things have become worse over the past 3 weeks & I'm now suffering with bad headaches & spots keep cropping up on my face!

Aren't we lucky women?

Anyway I took my first tablet a couple of hours ago, so I'll let you know what happens over the coming weeks. Good luck everyone!

Well its now day 4 of taking my Elleste Duet, the first 3 days everything was the same but today, my emotions are raging. I've been soooo moody,grumpy with my family & sobbing on & off all day. I'll stick with taking them at the moment, as I'm sure my body just needs to adjust to the hormone boost its getting! So fingers crossed things improve soon.

Hi,, just wanted to add my experience of Elleste.
I'm 44 and have been having menopausal symptoms for a couple of years before starting Elleste 3 months ago, I had patches for 3 months before that but couldn't get the buggers to stick! Before HRT, I had constant hot flushes and by that I mean at least a couple every hour, every day. Night sweats, alopecia patches, extreme tiredness, weepy, recurring thrush and severe vaginal dryness (no-one tells you about the utter misery and agony of this particular menopause symptom!).
I worried myself silly for months about taking HRT, because of the 'risks' and now I just wish I hadn't put up with it all for so long because taking it has changed my life dramatically.

My GP was clear, at 44 and with test confirming I was definately in early menopause, she recommended strongly that I take it. I should have these hormones anyway at my age, and not having them carried far more risks. My grandmother and Mum both suffer severe osteoporosis, losing inches in height and suffering so much pain through disintegrating vertebrae, my Mum had to use a wheelchair from her early sixties, and also had a quadruple heart bypass before she was 60. My GP thinks this was because my Mum went through a very early menopause and did not have HRT, and that this could be my future too without replacing the hormones I needed at my age. Of course, I am aware of the other risks of HRT, but I check my breasts and go to the GP for regular follow ups and blood pressure checks.

I feel so much better, my hair is growing back, I'm not anxious and have more energy, I sleep like a log, the flushes disappeared with the first week of HRT, and I have a sex life! Hurrah!

hi everyone! Like many of you on here ive just been prescribed with the "magic pills" Elleste Duet, 1mg. Im 52 and divorced. Just found this site and this thread. It sounds very encouraging and I hope it works for me too. I also suffer from depression which doesnt help cos some of the emotional symptoms are the same. I have felt awful for ages. Sleep is very difficult, but thats also depression related. Im moody, tearful, depressed, have quite bad hot flushes (day and night). My memory is very bad and I find it hard to concentrate. My fiance has been so good and supportive but im sure it must get him down too.
So nice to know you guys out there know where im coming from! Its great to have a support network. Take care. x

Hi All! Another early meno here! Im 41 and now day 5 of elleste duet. Ive decided that it is essential to maintain a normal hormone profile to protect against the risks of CHD, dementia, osteoporosis and DIVORCE! Mood swings and irritability were ferocious. I dont feel particularly better so far but hoping ... Ive been suffering for the best part of a year with classic symptoms. Although havent had any hot flushes but have avoided hoovering at all costs as I end up looking like Ive walked through a shower (good excuse eh?)! My main concern is lack of sex drive and wondered if anyone can tell me if this gets better or if they have had specific treatment for this? Thanks for sharing your experiences!! Been on the "magic pills" for just over a week now. Im sure the hot flushes arent so frequent. Hopefully that will continue to improve.

TandTsMum - Lack of sex drive - doesn't usually get better... but each woman is different so might do something for you
As you have early menopause you might like to ask for some testosterone and if your GP won't prescribe it try to get referred to a menopause clinic, to see a a meno specialist gynae, (not a nurse), who hopefully can presribe it for you. You are far too young to suffer from lack of sex drive!!
I don't use it myself because my practice won't prescribe it if no hysterectomy and haven't asked to be referred as yet, but I am a lot older....

hi linda l am the same started on 1mg last week and l have gone all grumpy when i wasnt before and my symptoms seem to be worse and don't need to be so grumpy at christmas.

Mixed results on here with the tablets. I suppose they're not for everyone and some people may need to try different types of HRT to find one that suits.

I've now been taking mine for 7 months. I feel great - no sweats, sleeping better, joints are no longer aching, sex drive has returned. All in all, a very positive experience.

I hope everyone keeps updating the thread - it's nice to know how we're all getting on

well a few weeks on l m feeling so much better no more hot flushes achy joints just finished first line of green pills no sign of a period thank goodness but sex drive coming back after years!!

Hi Everyone I've just turned 51 & not had a period for 52days yeah, but hot flushes day & night, tiredness & headaches for the last couple of years have driven me to the docs. Just been prescribed Elleste Duet 1mg but as I've not had a period not too sure when to start. Reading the other postings I hadn't realised my achey wrists, thumbs & knees could all be symptoms, also being weepy I put that down to empty nest & not being needed as all my children are young adults at uni & work. Haven't really had any mood swings thank goodness. I will start the tabs soon as will be skiing at Easter so need to guard against any broken bones. (not sure the tabs can help with the skiing though)

If you don't get on with them remember that this is just ONE sort o HRT. There are lots of others to try if need be, and they don't all include tablets- patches and gels have fewer side effects.

You won't see any benefit to your bones for at least 1-2 years- it takes that long for bones to change- so take it easy on the slopes!

I was actually crying reading all these post by all these lovely ladies. I was diagnosed in 2007 and have struggled since then. I have tried over the counter remedies - homeopathic concoctions - Chinese herbs - acupuncture etc etc as I was afraid to try HRT. Now having suffered the worse 3 months of my life - sweats - insomnia/nightmares - terrible mood swings and feeling really low - I bit the bullet and attended my GP this morning. She has prescribed me Elleste duet on coming home I read the leaflet within then burst into tears as it all seemed to be so negative but i think that was my slant on it i then decided to do some further digging and found this site. I have taken my first tablet and hope and pray that this will help me as it has so many of the ladies on this site. I have never been one to write on sites etc but so many of your stories could me talking. Fingers crossed and thanks for this wonderful site x

Got my tabs on 2/1/13 and still not taken them as no sign of my period yet!!
Not too sure what to do but I'll ring the doc this morning for some advise, seems crazy as there just sitting there on the table and I'm still suffering (hot flush as I type). Hopefully the melancholy will lift too, just having this black cloud hanging over you is bad enough without all the rest. Nelly8709 is quite right about these postings they really are helpful, joyous & uplifting too :)
