Anyone taking Elleste duet?

I've been to the doctors today for my blood test results and been told the menopause is here .

I've got a prescription for Elleste 1mg - anyone out there taking it?

Would like to know your experiences, good or bad.

Hi, day 4 of HRT still feeling dizzy and a bit sick, plus bad headache today... and hello Liverbird28, I've had similar symptoms to you- I've just started taking the Elleste tablets and feeling a bit weird with tingling in my arm... but I think I had that before to an extent!... when I was waiting to take the HRT last month I used herbal remedies that helped a bit but not with the memory/feeling weird/ lack of energy etc..am hoping the HRT will help! the messages about sex drive are helpful, my GP wouldn't talk to me about that and I'm too young to feel so unwell with it and I dont want to put my partner through any more!! hope you other ladies are getting on ok? I'm interested to see how it works out for everyone!

I've just finished my 1st month on Elleste Duet Conti and for the last 5 days I've been bleeding heavily. Is this normal? I haven't has a period for 8 months. This week I've felt edgy and a bit tearful which is really unusual for me. I'm concerned that the bleeding will continue and I really don't want that to happen. Do you think I should see my doctor?

Hi Kazjay, yes I would definitely see the Dr, even if its something that will settle down, if you've not had a period for 8 months this may just be the effect of the HRT but they have to check it out for you! the information on the website www.menopause matters.co.uk is pretty good so maybe have a look there for some advice too. hope you get it sorted out! think the advice from other people here about asking about different types of HRT is good, we're all different so one type may be better for you than the Elleste Duet Conti. Hi, I've been reading all the threads about Elleste Duet etc but can't find any details of experiences anyone has had taking Elleste Solo 1 mg tablets. I'm 46 years old (sadly never had children), my periods stopped suddenly one year ago and my blood test results today have confirmed that I'm at the peri-menopausal stage. My mood swings have been a little up and down, quite tearful coming to terms that I'll never have children, at night time I constantly wake up really thirsty and hot but more importantly my sexual libido is dead. It's just so horrible when you don't know what the hell is happening to your body. My doctor has advised me to try a three month course of Elleste Solo 1mg but I wanted to find out how anyone else has found these tablets. Any side affects? Positive/negative comments welcomed. Hi, I've just joined today because of the advice and discussion of elleste duet. I've been on them now for a month after a major two year battle with local gp, who refused to even consider I was starting menopause. I'm 46, and been having hot flushes for 2 years.my monthlies have started to mess about over the last 6 months. The first Orange tablets have been amazing, zero flushes, lovely even moods, it's been great.....however the second half of the month, the white tablets have been vile, crying, crying and more crying, and feeling quite ill. I'm hoping this will settle, I'm not sure if the downside of the white tablets outweigh the benefits of the Orange :(

Hi Wo0dy and everyone, took Elleste Duet for 3months all ok on the white tabs but the green ones were a different ball game altogether. Moods, headaches and tired. Then came the most horrendous period pains I've every had just like labour without the actual contractions (have had 3 children) and bleeding like someone had pulled a plug!!!!!!! Soooo heavy and lumpy and large sore boobs and lasted nearly 7 days, so not a happy bunny on them. Went back to dr who has prescribed Premak-C 0.625mg due to start tomorrow (Friday) so fingers crossed things may be better. Not too sure about the horse urine though but I'll give these a go. Also not too pleased about having to pay for 2 prescriptions. Hopefully things will get better😄

Hi, just been prescribed Elleste Duet 1mg at 46. If I don't have any periods now, will this HRT "Force" a period? Hoiping this will help stop my brain being like mush and help with my crying - am a right mard arse at the moment and it's NOT like me. Just want to feel normal. Doc gave me the option of HRT or Anti depressants??? I thought the two were totally different. Maybe I should have gone for both!

I am taking elleste duet 2mg,i am 48,have the mirena coil,mood swings have got better and the hot sweats,but cannot believe how bloated i am and putting weight on,i hate it,anyone else had this?

Isn't Duet 2 hormones- oestrogen and progestins? If so you don't need progestins because you have the Mirena giving you that- so all this progestin may well be the cause of bloating.

I started on Elleste duet 1mg last month after having my ovaries and tubes removed. Now on second pack. Got to the third week of tablets and felt like someone had completely stolen my personality and given me an evil one. Crying all the time at the most insignificant of things. Took about two weeks to pass. Now at end of first week second pack and hoping this won't happen again. Hot sweats have eased off just the occasional one and sleeping much better. Not waking every hour to on/off duvet. Did experience nausea and having light bleeding after not having had any for 8 months. Put my woolly brain over last year or so down to getting old. I'm 49. Have noticed in the last week or so that I feel boggy and my ankles have been swelling any one else had this ? However having said that am feeling better and have a bit more motivation.

Have you thought about seeing your consultant or GP- swollen ankles can be potentially serious.

1mg oestrogen is very low dose- after complete removal of your ovaries it might not be enough.

Lots of HRT gives 1.5mgs or 2mgs.

So glad I've found this site. I've just started a thread in general health about Elleste duet 1mg which I've just been prescribed.

I was also told to start it within 5 days of my period starting. It's a bit irregular at the moment and so far no sign of anything.

I am desperate to try something to help the endless flushes, sweats, exhaustion and general vileness though. What is the worst that can happen if I don't take it when my period starts? Tia.

I have just been switched from femoston to premarin .03mg, this is because I can't seem to find a progesterone part of HRT that suits me. Has anyone else taken premarin who can tell me what to expect. I'm using cerezette as the progesterone part because I always got on well with it.

Hi all. Just taken first Elleste Duet 1mg tab yesterday evening. Am mildy on red alert waiting for weirdo side effects.
I have only had one hot flush since I've taken them. Wonder if that's coincidence or could they really start to kick in so fast?! Will report back on progress when I can.

So glad I found this site. I really thought it was only me that had not been coping! Heres my story...<br /> At 38 years old I didnt have a period for two months and was having hot sweats day and night every 20 minutes. Had an appointment with a gynecologist but had a period before seeing him and was told all was fine. Then the brain fog, anxiety and weird thoughts started. Id lay awake at night scared of any little noise even my own shadow, during the day constantly making silly mistakes at work. I eventually went to see my doctor convinced I was losing the plot. After blood tests it was confirmed the beginning of early menopause. Over the next couple of years I only had 2 shows (spotting) and now not had a period for 7 years. I really missed them at first (strange I know) but soon appreciated the benefits..no period pains and best of all no PMT. Throughout this time I have avoided HRT scared of it to be honest due to the side effects it may cause..up until now. I really thought I could do this cold turkey but my sweats have been constant, disturbed sleep, my libido is zilch, sex is VERY painful, over the years Ive had itching under the skin, hair loss, hair growth on chin. no interest or energy for anything, painful hands and really dark/suicidal thoughts. I am 47 but feel 77 (no disrespect to fit 77 year olds) so have finally given in to HRT. I no longer care about the serious risks it may carry, Ive decided to try and drag some quality of life back as I no longer recognize myself. <br /> I am on day 11 of Estelle Duet Conti tabs and though the first few days my sweats were more severe Im now starting to feel a little different. Had a couple of good nights sleep, fewer sweats less severe and the brain fog clearing a little. Apart from my partner complaining Im not paying him much attention as I dont sit and stroke/tickle him! (poor sod eh!) Im hoping im on the up.......fingers crossed

You shouldn't think of taking HRT as 'giving in'- no more than someone who is diabetic or has thyroid problems and has to take supplements.

Hi there, just joined tonight for the first time. I'm 52, but act 32. Happily married with two wonderful children and to be a first time nanny in 4 weeks. I've struggled for the last few years but more recently been noticed by the DR. 24 hour blood pressure monitor, bloods etc etc. last few months daily hot flushes, sweats every 20 minutes, sleepless nights, that's the norm for me. But finally been given Elleste Duet 1mg. Not on any other medication, never have been and reluctant to even take anadin. So this is a big thing for me but after reading some of these reports I'm really hoping for a miracle. Taken two tablets now so any advice would be welcomes.

Hey ladies, I was prescribed Elleste Duet 1mg by my Dr 4 months ago as I've had terrible brain fog, grumpiness, tinnitus and general aches and pains but thankfully not too many sleepless nights or hot flushes. I was quite reluctant to take HRT at first probably because of the bad press it's had, but 2 weeks ago on the first day of my last period (which are few and far between) I decided to give it a go and if I didn't get on with it I could always stop. I've got to say within the first week I definitely noticed my mood was lifting and I didn't feel totally consumed by my horrible hormones, my Dr did say it wasn't a miracle cure but even if it makes me feel 10% better I'm going to give a good go. I also have a Underactive Thyroid so in a way I'm already taking a hormone replacement for that. My advice would be to just try it and see how you get on. Oh and one last thing I've noticed whether it's connected or not I'm not sure but you must drink plenty of water at least 6/8 glasses a day. I hope I've helped someone today :D

Rafffles don't want to alarm you and please don't take this the wrong way- just a little concerned for you. Most women aged 57 would not be having periods- some women are very late stoppers- say 58- but it's very rare.
Anyone ( over 50) not having a period for 12 months is considered post meno, and any bleeding is always investigated urgently.

(I've had to go through this myself a couple of years back.)

You just need to be sure that you are still having periods and not occasional post meno bleeds which should be investigated. If you are taking a no-bleed HRT then you should not have any more bleeding at all- so if you do, see your GP immediately.

Wow... Raffles 8 years is a long time!! How are you getting on with the HRT now?

I'm now on day 22 of my first packet, and I'm still feeling better than I was to be honest after reading some of these messages I wasn't looking forward to taking the green ones (I've taken 5 now) and did feel a bit strange on the second day but that seems to have passed. This might be helpful to some people but I always take HRT and Thyroxine at night when I'm in bed and ready to go to sleep, that way any kind of strange unwanted feelings the tablets might give you go pretty much unnoticed :)
I forgot to mention last too that some morning's I was waking up feeling like a had morning sickness, it passed quite quickly once I was up, I'm still getting this but not so much! (I didn't suffer any morning sickness when I had my babies) I think it's helpful if people can come back to this site with some positive feedback too and any helpful tips on how we can best handle this phase in life.. :)

Ps.. I also take a Berocca every morning, it really does give you a lift! :D
