Normally I have nice, light, regular periods. No cramping, no pain or bloating (I know, I've been incredibly fortunate).

This month I am having the period from hell. Very heavy, feel like I've put on 2 stone in as many days, and absolutely horrific cramps that nothing is shifting.

I've spent hours in a steaming hot bath today, and just want to crawl into bed with a big mug of tea and LittleDog to cuddle.

I'm 44.

No amelia, just the one. And at no particular time....Hmm

So I need to tell my GP that then...... I thought that they'd know about things like that? Mind you, he was a very handsome young man so I might have been a tiny bit distracted! Grin

How's things with you?Smile xx

Mouseface · 04/03/2012 19:31

Sorry, when you say "day 3" do you mean when I finally bleed? Or after I stop?

JugglingWithTangentialOranges · 04/03/2012 19:58

Hi mouse,

I think traditionally day 1 is taken to be the day Auntie Flo knocks on the door -
so if you're lucky she might be thinking of leaving by day 3 Smile

Though recently, round these parts, I've heard tales of her staying on past the time when she would be even remotely welcome, and being deaf to hints however blatantly given ! Grin

MardyBra · 05/03/2012 09:06

My womb overfloweth this morning. About to go into work situation where it's difficult to run out easily to the loo. Here's hoping I keep it together.

MardyBra · 05/03/2012 12:35

Phew. made it through the morning ok.

JugglingWithTangentialOranges · 05/03/2012 14:33

Glad you're OK Mardy Smile

Mouseface · 05/03/2012 15:38

Ah, I see, thanks Smile

Glad you survived work Mardy Smile

Okay, so what the actual Jeff is this pain all about? Not a drop of blood, nothing at all, not even a show...... and yet I am doubled over with a hot water bottle stuffed up my jumper.

Does anyone else get these? It's like the pains I used to get when ovulating.....

MardyBra · 05/03/2012 16:00

Thanks for your thoughts ladies. Had blood clots first thing, but seems to have settled down now.

Mouse - no idea what it can be. Get to a doctor maybe? Hope you're feeling better soon, lovely.

Mouseface · 05/03/2012 16:21

I asked my doc last time Mardy..... he said he had no idea. Great! I think I'm going to try and get referred back to my gynae.

Thanks for the brew and chocs Smile xx

MardyBra · 05/03/2012 16:38

Sad he couldn't work it out. If you're bent over double in pain then a gynae referral would make sense.

Mouseface · 07/03/2012 14:04

How ridiculous though? That he didn't know. Sad

How are you Mardy? x

MardyBra · 07/03/2012 14:32

I'm good thanks Mouse.

My menstrual evacuation has ceased and I'm hoping it will be one of those increasingly long gaps till the next one.

I feel sorry for the men in the house though. Teenage DD is starting to get mardy too with PMT these days (still not a patch on her mother though!)

Have replied to your PM btw.

Mouseface · 07/03/2012 19:45

Yes, my DD's hormentals are at super strong about 2 weeks before she get's her period. She's settled down really quickly actually. Nowhere near as bad as me and I hope with all of my being that remains to be the case.

I must go and find something to eat that I actually want that isn't chocolate or cheese! Grin

jerin · 08/03/2012 07:49

Morning ladies......

I've not been around for a while as been super douper busy and distracted by rl.

Good news about your bloods mouse - mine also came back ok- phew!

I've also received a date for my scan which they managed to book for when I'm away this weekend, despite me telling them. Anyway I'm now booked for the 15th so Queen, I might see you there!!
I think my period may put in an appearance by then which'll be a bit eugghhh but the letter says they'll still scan. Transvaginal. I have to say that for the past week I've had no pain although a few twinges. Very bizarre.

Mouse do you think your pains could be ovulation? The ovulation pains I had last cycle were sooooo bad - I was doubled over, hot water bottle, tears. Painkillers didn't touch it. I spent hours in pain but two hours doubled over. Nothing since and that was 6 weeks ago. I only ever seem to get pain on one side though?

Mardy, mouse you're scaring me..... My daughter is only 3 and mardy enough already - god help me in 10 years time!!

MardyBra · 08/03/2012 18:02

Hello jerin. Good luck with the scan.
(Crazynanna will be jealous about the rabbitcam, I fear).

MardyBra · 11/04/2012 16:57

Just had a 14 day cycle. Grrr!

crazynanna · 11/04/2012 17:02

Hmm what's a girl to do to get a frigging rabbitcam these days.

Dunno what's going on with mine.

Last periods were:
Feb 26th...and before that

Nov 26th (2011!)

Please please please make it be the end

MardyBra · 11/04/2012 17:21

Hello crazynanna. Bit quiet round 'ere innit?

I suppose there's only so much reiteration of menopausal symptoms we can take...

My cycle is currently decreasing. Since November:

62 days
37 days
24 days
14 days.

If you extrapolate that will I be going into negative figures in a couple of weeks time? Will that be a constant period or will I just self implode due to the apparent paradox?

crazynanna · 11/04/2012 17:46

Hey Mardy.

Yes it seems we women just end up putting up with the shit in the end.

Mine went like yours...shorter and shorter....then wham! didn't have one for 3 months...and wham! going on 2 months now.

So...wham! hope you go the same way Grin

sincitylover · 14/04/2012 22:42

can I join? Had horrendous periods during my 40s also have fibroids, anaemic plus underactive thyroid (which is treated with medication) period always generally regular but very heavy.

Haven't had period since mid Jan no other symptoms yet. So could this be it? Do periods just stop like that or could I expect any more.

One the one hand if no periods would be good re shrinking of fibroids and iron levels but on the other hand despite being a pain I'm used to the rythym (sp) of my cycle and think I would mourn this.

Went to gps (was nagged to go) but just said that this is normal and to watch and wait.

sincitylover · 14/04/2012 22:48

Also linked to my final comment - I'm a little worried about waning libido and my own perception of myself as an attractive sexual person - don't want to lose it and surely it's not necessarily the case?

What do others think?
