Normally I have nice, light, regular periods. No cramping, no pain or bloating (I know, I've been incredibly fortunate).

This month I am having the period from hell. Very heavy, feel like I've put on 2 stone in as many days, and absolutely horrific cramps that nothing is shifting.

I've spent hours in a steaming hot bath today, and just want to crawl into bed with a big mug of tea and LittleDog to cuddle.

I'm 44.

Hi all

Yes, shit isn't it. I have the period from hell and am as agitated as can be. Very very irrational. Shouted at DS and SCREAMED at DP. Blimey, need to get a grip Sad

Mouseface · 27/01/2012 20:27

Why haven't MNHQ done a chocolate smiley yet! They just aren't on the ball are they!? Grin

thinktheopposite · 27/01/2012 20:38

Thank you mouse face Smile

Actually the docs damned me to childlessness in march 2010 when my 'early menopause' was first mooted. Shows what half-wits they are - I was unknowingly pregnant during the consultant. Had my beautiful 13 month old son thereafter Grin

That said, my results are far worse now Sad so I imagine I was blessed to get in under the radar

It is hard to learn you're about to go through such a life change earlier than expected. I was so shocked. It's such an assault. But it is what it is, I suppose

Mouseface · 27/01/2012 20:41

think - it's a massive slap in the face of being a woman isn't it? I was really Sad when I started to think about what was going on...... keep posting and letting it all out. I'm glad you have your gorgeous DS xx

And call me Mouse, everyone does, first name terms here lovely xx

thinktheopposite · 27/01/2012 20:44

Thanks mouse...it is weird. I feel quite scared that I won't feel like myself, won't feel like a woman...

thinktheopposite · 27/01/2012 20:45

Oh and thyroid was tested and is fine, so can't blame that

JugglingWithSnowballs · 27/01/2012 20:47

Welcome think - glad to hear you got in under the radar Smile

Sorry you're going through all this so early though, that's a bummer.

Mouseface · 27/01/2012 20:59

I'm off to watch TV and then bed.

Have restful nights all.

See you over the weekend. xx

Mouseface · 29/01/2012 09:12
Sad

Morning all.

I have woken to all mother of gushing, clotty periods. Clearly my few days of a light bit of spotting was the build up for a fresh period to arrive.

Another pair of knickers in the bin and a pair of PJ bottoms in soak in the bath. Sad

Why didn't I think ahead? I should've known that my body would trick me, the tricky trickster that it is!

Today, I'm mostly going to be using a hot water bottle, wearing a massive snuggly jumper and drinking hot chocolate whilst going back and forth to the toilet.

JugglingWithSnowballs · 29/01/2012 12:40

Ah, poor mouse - Is it any easier being a weekend - a bit more support around ?
I'm having a quiet afternoon with DS as DD at a friend's ( allegedly doing homework together ! ) What to do with DS that's the dilemma !

IslaValargeone · 29/01/2012 16:22

Just poking my head in to see how everyone is.
Hope you are managing a snuggly day mouseface without too much unpleasantness. I haven't cried today.. Whoop Whoop! :o

Mouseface · 29/01/2012 20:27

Snow - yes, DH is here. Sorry you were struggling to think of things to do with DS. Thing is, the loo won't take 'waste' and paper so I have to wee and then sort the other departments out Blush

I've had my hand down the loo to clear all the blockages. So far, so good.

Hopefully, I can get the builder to have a look...... Hmm

Isla - Yayayayayayay for not crying so far today. Massive hugs to you babe xx

How are we all? Very quiet on here.

JugglingWithSnowballs · 30/01/2012 09:06

< waves to mouse ! >

In the end DS and I went to the park for a bit. He took his Pogo stick and was quite happy bouncing around on that - although it was a bit of a damp and grey afternoon.
Was pleased we got out for a bit anyway.
Sounds like fun spending the weekend with hand down loo !!
Hope you and yours are all good ....

Love to all Smile

Mouseface · 30/01/2012 11:30

Morning.

GGGGGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! Angry

The toilet is still blocking. Not ideal when one is gushing with a horrid period. Thankfully, DH is the understanding and very sympathetic kind.

Snow - DS on a Pogo stick sounds great! I bet he had a fab time going on that to the park. It's a gorgeous day here, dark and damp yesterday but clear and crisp today so Nemo and I are going to a friend's for coffee and then it's the Big Shop.

Then my first ever Zumba tonight. I'm really excited Grin

Hope you are all okay? Smile xx

AC - do you want to talk about it? I'm around for a while, what's up sweets? xx

Mouseface · 02/02/2012 09:07

Morning all.

I'm still making Brews for those who want one?

Day 5 of yuk. Is this what it's like when you have a period at 54 days? Not nice.

How are things with everyone else?

JugglingWithSnowballs · 02/02/2012 09:54

Hi mouse

Thanks I'll join you for a Brew - will go nicely with the last few crumbs of banana cake I'm having for breakfast ( see compensations of being an adult thread ! ) And since it can be a virtual cake too I can offer you a slice even though in reality there's only a few crumbs left - might be tasty for a wee mouse though Grin

Sorry to hear about your "troubles" - note to self - really should join 21st century one day and stop using euphemisms !

Have a good day Smile

countingto10 · 02/02/2012 17:10

Hi all,

Hope things are easing up Mouse !

Well I got my blood results today. My oestrogen levels are ok (bloods were taken mid cycle so GP thinks I was most likely ovulating) but my pituitary gland appears to be kicking in if that makes sense Confused so I am peri-menopausal.

So GP has given me a couple of options as I am not ready for HRT yet. Carry on with the progestrone pills (have finished first course and am currently awaiting first bleed but they have made me feel very bloated), have a mirena coil fitted or put up with periods that can be very heavy and unpredictable. Also can give me anti-depressants for anxiety, mood swings etc.

Has anyone here had experience of the mirena coil ? Any unpleasant side effects etc ?

Came away from GP's feeling a bit deflated Sad, was hoping she was going to fix everything .....

Hope everyone else is coping.

Mouseface · 02/02/2012 17:33

Hey CT10

I had the Mirena coil but it didn't agree with me (synthetic hormones hate my body) so I had it removed. I have friends who swear by them saying that their periods are so light and also infrequent.

It's worth doing your own research, ask friends, family and look it up. See what others have said Smile.

I'm sorry you feel flat about the visit to the GP. I know what you mean. You just want it all to stop and go back to normal.

How do you feel about the suggestion of going onto ADs?

Mwahs xxx

Mouseface · 04/02/2012 15:30

AC - how are you today?

We have snow and I'm going to brave the gym for a gentle workout whilst the boys watch the rugby.

I've still got really bad, sharp period pains but the flow has almost stopped thankfully.

How is everyone else?
