Normally I have nice, light, regular periods. No cramping, no pain or bloating (I know, I've been incredibly fortunate).

This month I am having the period from hell. Very heavy, feel like I've put on 2 stone in as many days, and absolutely horrific cramps that nothing is shifting.

I've spent hours in a steaming hot bath today, and just want to crawl into bed with a big mug of tea and LittleDog to cuddle.

I'm 44.

Afternoon everyone.

Like a lot of us on this thread my brain turns to mush even more a week or so before a period. I never know when it will occur due to never knowing anymore when said period will occur.

Another car fiasco.

Following on from posts a few days ago where I scoffed about the fact that memory seemed to have behaved itself for a couple of days and was having no major calamities, well..

Walked to where I parked my car after work. Got in car and started the ignition, it was dead as a dodo. I thought that was strange coz it's not particularly cold at the mo and I've just had a new battery fitted.

Thought oh well, and rang the RAC. They told me it would be about 40 mins.

Just happened to look at radio and the top face was missing (this comes off and can be stored away but I never do this), hmmmm, now thought someone had broken in car and stole it, maybe they stole my lovely new battery too. Opened bonnet to see battery still there. Got back in car and opened glove compartment to see if my CD's were still there, reached in and pulled out this huge square mobile phone that I'd never seen before.

Yep, FFS I was in the wrong car! (blush)

In my defence it was the same model/make and colour as mine.

Had to call RAC and cancel recovery. Thank god it was a woman so fessed up (unlike after last car incident)

Have come on today, phew

Hello Mardy - thanks for the hug, I so need that today lovely xx

I meant tranexamic acid, not Triaminic. Doh! How weird, the two hours of bleeding and then nothing? I must admit that the other day, I have a few twinges and a tiny spot of pink discharge but NOTHING at all in terms of a period.

Am I the only one who thinks secretly, or not, thank fuck that this could be the beginning of the end? No more ruined knickers, flooding in public, having to excuse yourself for gushing with blood in work, on a night out, at friend's houses etc.

Going through tampons and towels like there's no tomorrow. I won't miss the breakouts, the cramps that make me physically sick, the sore, swollen breasts, the tears at the most crazy things......

And so much more. I won't miss it, not one bit. I will miss knowing that I could have a baby. That part I am still coming to terms with.

FlyingLugholes · 25/01/2012 15:48

mardy hahaaha sorry, know I shouldn't laugh but very funny post!

Tranexamic Acid 500mg tablets. Got the right thing then

Feel so bloated today. But that might be the chocolate pudding I had for lunch...

candytuft63 · 25/01/2012 16:10

I had 2 years of terrible periods - v. heavy, bloating, cramps. Had to take time off work on a few occasions it was all so bad.
Then, they began to "tail off" and are few and far between now. Its been a year and I feel so much better. Still feel PMS-y, but my acne is a lot better (had it since age 14, but thats another thread) and I am 48.
Sounds like The Change to me.
A cold hot water bottle was helpful for my night sweats. I used to feel as though i was being dipped in steam.

Mouseface · 25/01/2012 16:12

Ohhhhhhhh, chocolate pudding Envy

diddl · 25/01/2012 16:43

I had this today.

Was delicious-and more so as a free sample!

Mouseface · 25/01/2012 16:46

I'm not weird, honest! Grin

MardyBra · 25/01/2012 17:35

Glad to hear there is light at the end of the tunnel candytuft. Yes mouse, I won't miss the whole rigmarole, and luckily as the DCs are now in double figures, I'm way past the wanting another baby stage. But it must be hard if you're still thinking about the possibility of another child.

Hope the TA works Lugholes. And laugh away - I'm glad to be a source of amusement. Grin

candytuft63 · 25/01/2012 17:47

Well...it was funny...Grin
Glad we have retained a sense of humour !
Chocolate makes symptoms worse, so the Lady in our Health food shop says Sad

crazynanna · 25/01/2012 17:55

OOhhh Mardy it came then Hmm

Hello all Smile

I am on day 70 and no sign. Maybe this is it Shock will have an explosion now I have said that

Absolutely no PMT....but I did piss myself a little in Hammersmith today Blush

The guy in the kebab shop I flew into knew from the look on my face not to even fucking say a word! Hmm

I pissed in his toilet, bought a can of coke and left...so I was officially a customer

Was on my way home anyway but had to sit on today's copy of the Metro on the tube...and straight in the bath when I got home.

Still had the cheek to pop into Tescos to by a mango and coconut cheesecake smelling like the old cat lady Grin

bigTillyMint · 25/01/2012 18:53

Just been reading through - Mouseface, you sound like you've been having a terrible time - hope your back is feeling even a little bit better now.

Mojitomama Grin

ElectricSoftParade that is EXACTLY how I felt before my GP put me on the HRT, never mind all the physical symptoms. Could you try HRT?

Mouseface · 25/01/2012 19:33

Nanna - I've been like that all day after the injections yesterday, like I can't feel is I need to pee or not. I'm going to give it another 24 hrs and go back if need be as it could be down to the anaesthetic they put into my spine.

Tilly - my mum swore by HRT........ can you tell me what the plus sides are please?

My pain is easing, thank you all for your kind words and thoughts. All I seem to do is moan! I'm fed up of being in pain and being disabled but I refuse to let this disease beat me!

MardyBra · 25/01/2012 23:09

Grin at crazynanna and the kebab man. At least he knew not to mess with a peri.

So does the 2 hour period count? Am I back to day 1?

crazynanna · 25/01/2012 23:17

Did you get 2 hour syptoms too,Mardy?

MardyBra · 26/01/2012 00:11

I had full blown pmt beforehand. DH is still reeling.

And sore boobs.

And a few cramps.

Went to bed expecting the battle of the Somme overnight. And nothing in the morning. Am I a fraek?

crazynanna · 26/01/2012 08:18

Nah you're not a fraek...it's the fraeking Peri my love Hmm

Well if you got all the symptoms then it wasn't any kind of breakthrough bleed and must have been a period....so you got off lightly Mardy seeing the big gap you had there.

I would start at day 1 again Wink

MardyBra · 26/01/2012 08:21

"I would start at day 1 again "

You just want to win in the period endurance competition, don't you?

Grin Mardy. I have never gone this long before...also the hot flushes have subsided...no PMT...nada. Only the Pissy knickers. Just think...I could be through the Portal! 6 hot flushes...and bingo! who am I kidding

Mary I don't think all symptoms for all people...but the dodgy period are usually always there. How long for you with the other symptoms? Maybe you just get horrendous PMT (much sympathy)
