I have just moved to deepest, darkest somerset with my dh & 2yr old ds. Although I love the rural surroundings and could garden and tend to the animals all day I am feeling slightly guilty that my son is not getting as much of the social stuff that he was used to in the city. Summer hols mean all groups and activities have stopped, so I was wondering if anyone with children in this area would want to make contact and poss come out to play with us?

Hi Joelalie ..... we've offered on the house AAAAAArgh and just received an offer on ours so the move to somerset is hopefully on for the summer (we're planning to move by or around the summer holidays) We're moving from Wiltshire so not that far away but really excited about the move....I have a DS (5) and a DD (3). We'll be in the Polden Hills area too (was there somebody called kinky cat based there ?)...really looking forward to our new adventure

twinmummy04 · 15/03/2006 16:09

Sorry didn't realise it would take that long on the bus to fromeBlush you definitely don't want to be taking DS's on the bus for that long (the thought of my two on a bus for more the 5mins fills me with fear :))

Hullabaloos sounds fine, if you let me know how you get there or where abouts it is?? Also if the play area is small that's probably better as Juction21 is massive and I never get to sit down as I'd just lose them in there:)

Busyalexsmummy · 15/03/2006 16:27

Hullabaloos is great as like I said, during the week its normally fairly quite so the smaller ones can run around without getting stamped on by heavy footed 4yr olds! and as its small, you wont lose them!
If you are driving from the wells roundabout, you head in towards town, but instead of turning right at the top of the high street, you carry on approx 200yrds to your next right, turn off down a lane and near the bottom of the road, theres a car park, hullabaloos is just opposite the car park....

I just want to add, that Im 21-probably think Im a fruitloop now-just that I always seem to get given a wide berth by older(not oldSmile) mothers, so thought I should forwarn youWink

twinmummy04 · 15/03/2006 17:05

Not to worry I'm only 28 :) All my friends, don't have babies yet and all the new mum friends I've made are nearly all over 34 apart from 2, so I'm considered the "young one", might be nice not to be for a change, although in yrs to come I know I'll be wishing I was younger :)

I'm moving house on friday, only 10 mins from here but nearer to Wells so I'll be off line for a couple of days while we sort internet access.

I'll have a look on multi map for the soft play place and directions. What days do you normally have free?

Its been a while since I have been on here (apologies for abandoning the thread), but I have just noticed Steppy1 is moving to the polden hills. If you are still heading this way Steppy, and you need a local contact feel free to pm me (I assume it is straight forward to do that). There are masses of groups, classes, activities here and it is a beautiful place to live. Good luck.

twinmummy04 · 11/04/2006 14:20

Hi BAM sorry to leave the thread like that, we moved house on the 17th and have had no internet access since :( (had a marker on the line from the guy whose house it was, he never caneclled his internet idiot Angry ) we have just got back online today Yippee! so sorry thats why I have been away.
Did you still want to meet up?
Can do Mondays or Tuesdays

TM04

Busyalexsmummy · 13/04/2006 20:34

Mondays are probably the better out the two for meSmile
Dont worry, havent checked the thread for a while as havent been on MN alot in the last few weeks as ds1 is being such a monster and its impossible until hes asleep, by which time, I calapse exhausted in a heapGrin

twinmummy04 · 15/04/2006 17:45

Mondays are fine with me too, still alright to meet at hullabaloos in glastonbury?
Which Monday would suit and what times?
My two normally have one big sleep after lunch so mornings would be better for me :)

My two are just getting over the colds they have had since last week, so have gone from being happy little chaps to clingly toads :) Hope I get the happy chaps back soon!

Bit confused as this seems to be the 3rd Somerset thread I've found but thought I'd add to it as well - perhaps it will bump it up so other people will find it!

Expecting my first baby any time now, live in Glastonbury and would love to meet up with other online Mum's in the area, especially ones with tiny babes or anytime-soon-bumps!

Steppy1 · 31/08/2006 19:57

Hi All......just searched out the Somerset thread 9again !!!) we didn't get to move during the summer hols in the end (house fell through) BUT wil be moving during October half term !!!! (actually on 19th October !!) We're moving near to West pennard so the Shepton mallet side of Glastonbury...and whoever asked if I organise those "rowdy nights out for mums" yes 'tis I.... though I would prefer to call them "sophisticated nights out for mums in rather nice venues"!!!!!! and I am already looking into setting something up in Somerset

really excited about the move.. and maybe meeting up with some Somerset ladies in the Autumn/Winter
