So...
have you been invited to this year's summer party?
I'm not one of the select few.
Apparently the venue is the same as last year.....

How ridiculous!
Who has got upset then?

piffle · 01/08/2005 09:48

I went last year and it was lovely I wish I could have stayed longer. If only certain number of people are invited it's probably due to circumstances etc
I hope it is a lovely party and that everyone has a good a time this year as last.
For anyone who would like an east midlands/sth lincs meet I'm prepared to host one for about 15 ish plus kids.

Mad moi?

Amai · 01/08/2005 09:49

Twiggy your logic is spot on.

although this thread was supposed to be lighthearted IMO it doesn't really look like that.

Does it really bother you that much?

A party hoast has to limit numbers some how and what if she did start a thread inviting people, and then ALL the posters from that day(on every thread) said they'd come. I doubt Beetroot has enough room for everyone.

Lighthearted or not I find it very odd to start this one.

piffle · 01/08/2005 09:55

emma snap!

Toothache · 01/08/2005 09:55

Well I'm bothered!!!! >flounce

WigWamBam · 01/08/2005 09:56

I can't see anyone whinging yet, ggglimpopo ... most of us just think it's funny that someone could be so petty as to try and stir things.

Now, the Number 10 Gordon Is A Moron Party is a different thing, and if I don't get an invitation to that one I shall be very disappointed

compo · 01/08/2005 09:57

I guess if you had been invited last night and not this year you might be a bit worried you smelt!!

Kayleigh · 01/08/2005 09:57

Think this thread is very mean spirited . I agree with Piffle. I also went to the party last year and had a lovely time. It was an awful lot of work for Beety and her family and I am not at all suprised if she has decided this year to have a smaller version. I hope they all have a lovely time.

wheresmyfroggy · 01/08/2005 09:58

i've already said wwb, everyone is invited

wheresmyfroggy · 01/08/2005 10:01

grins aren't working again

WigWamBam · 01/08/2005 10:04

I can see your grin, it's sitting there showing it's teeth quite nicely.

WigWamBam · 01/08/2005 10:04

Or even "its teeth", before the apostrophe pedants come and slap me ...

Marina · 01/08/2005 10:07

Perfectly put gggl and Kayleigh - and piffle too.
I hope your party goes really well Beety and is less of a nightmare to organise this year.
Your instincts to limit the invites this time round have been proved right by some of the posters on here I think

Fran1 · 01/08/2005 10:08

Why would you expect Beetroot to allow just anyold person on MN into her house and property??? You could all be axe murderers for all she knows.

I know she did it last year but thought she was mad then!!

Respect to you Beetroot!

ScummyMummy · 01/08/2005 10:14

This thread is a bit pants IMO. It's not a Mumsnet meet up is it? If it was then it would be advertised in a meet up thread. If people want to have a gathering/party with friends, some or all of whom happen to be mumsnetters, that's fine isn't it? I've met up with friends whom I first met through mumsnet lots of times.

emmatmg · 01/08/2005 10:15

Ahem.......marina.....I said it too

Humphhh

{grin]

gothicmama · 01/08/2005 10:15

Beety hope you have afab party altho \i would withdraw teh invite to whoever is trying to stir this up- Perhaps they should organise aig party for all those not invited

basketcase · 01/08/2005 10:16

Don?t like the way this thread is going at all. I dislike the way people sometmes feel that if they make out that it is all a joke and just having a laugh then everything is fine, they can say whatever they want.

People may roll their eyes and make out that moaning about people "when they are really just having a laugh" is boring, OTT etc. but IMHO there is some green eyed monsters lurking around trying to stir up unnecessary trouble.

Didn?t go last year, not invited this year but wish you all well and have a wonderful time
