Ok.
WE really need to get this sorted if we are to hold a party this year.
As it seems i've somehow managed to volunteer to organise it we figuered we'd just go back to the Hat & Tun as last year's do was so succesfull.

We have a preliminary date of the 28th November.

Last year everyone paid £20 towards venue hire and food ( which was delicious) so if everyone is agree'd we will just do that agin this year.

so if everyone that is interested in coming could PLEASE list your names on this thread so that we know this will be a viable event.

otherwise i need to phone pizza hut and book a booth

Oh and i don't know how you make threads sticky but if someone does....could they?

I'm in, and Ewe knows me so she's got no more exuses!

AnnieLobeseder · 19/09/2009 14:38

Ooh, and Ewe knows FfreckleFface too - definitely no excuses!

AnnieLobeseder · 19/09/2009 14:39

Just seen it's East London, and since I live in West Surrey I may have to join the hotel crowd, depending on costs....

OK well since the "WANT TO COME" list is finally picking up so i shall indeed confirm the date -28th November

I will also get on to them about ordering some food. It was all delicious last year so looking forward to that
It will require payment in advance so i will need to get money from people.

I will go off and see if i can set up a paypal specifically for this.
I think everyone paid £20 last year.

obviously depending on who comes, if we end up with too much money i will put whatever is left into a kitty behind the bar.

www.laterooms.com is a good site to find hotel rooms.

Here's a list from Late Rooms of rooms within a mile of Farringdon, sorted by price.

lowrib · 19/09/2009 17:59

Oops the price sorting bit didn't work!

If you scroll down to find the list of rooms, then click on the date, it'll sort them by price.

lowrib · 19/09/2009 18:01

Also this is the nearest Travelodge - currently advertising £88 per night, which surprises me actually. I though they did some cheaper rooms in the city - guess it must be because it's a Saturday?

Kbear · 19/09/2009 18:15

Annie - EC1 is pretty much central London really not east - in case it makes a difference. Nearest tube is Farringdon(5 minute walk) 20 minute walk from Blackfriars.

Kbear · 19/09/2009 18:16

lowrib, just checked that out myself for Riven but no wheelchair access (surely illegal these days????) anyway, no good for her.

It says

Unfortunately we don't have wheelchair access at this hotel. The nearest alternative hotels are Islington and Kings Cross. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Kbear · 19/09/2009 18:26

which century are they living in?

I thought there weren't that many steps at the Tit and Bun! Anyway, I'd imagine that if you're coming there'd be any number of people willing to get you to the bar no matter what it took!

SimplyIsGoingToLearnToFLY · 19/09/2009 19:12

Thank you Mamazon. I really appreciate you organising this. I'll seek you out to buy you a drink.

lowrib · 19/09/2009 19:14

Hiya kbear - that's surprising!

Did you get a chance to have look at the other places on the list there must surely be some who have entered this century?

Mamazon · 19/09/2009 20:42

IIRC there is a small step into the front door but the rest of the pub is one level.

The step at the front is less than ideal but i am certain wouldn't pose too much of a problem - im no wheelchair user but i would imagine its the same as getting up a curb?
and if all else fails i will gladly help lift you in.

As for organising its not too big a deal at this stage. just a couple of emails and a phone call.
so long as it continues this smoothly i'll be happy. but i shant turn down a free drink

have now set up a specific PAYPAL address for the Xmas meet.

SO if you could send your £20 to

[email protected]

please mark it as a gift and put your MN name in the message space so that i will know who has paid.
