Ok.
WE really need to get this sorted if we are to hold a party this year.
As it seems i've somehow managed to volunteer to organise it we figuered we'd just go back to the Hat & Tun as last year's do was so succesfull.

We have a preliminary date of the 28th November.

Last year everyone paid £20 towards venue hire and food ( which was delicious) so if everyone is agree'd we will just do that agin this year.

so if everyone that is interested in coming could PLEASE list your names on this thread so that we know this will be a viable event.

otherwise i need to phone pizza hut and book a booth

well dh could pick me up from brighton.

i travel quite reg to farringdon as head office around there - and usually no probs - 1 train straight back - but for some reason its not that straight forward on that partic date.

so i figure that best bet of getting back would be victoria - late trains direct to brighton.

last train from brighton on that night 1 am from victoria, 1.05 fom london bridge - first 4am though if memory serves you need to take a taxi to make them after midnight.

I seem to remember an awful lot of hanging around last year trying to get taxis - the barman was trying to flag down black cabs for us in the road, bless him, but he had no luck at all...

For some reason I have dropped off the list!!!

(I had a bad expierence on a train as a child, couldn't open the door and missed my station)

Maybe people saying from which direction they are coming from, so that we can join up?

I went into the Hat and Tun today - they don't have a ramp, I suggested that they should get one before 28th November or there will be uproar LOL ! The manageress said she would contact the events manager and call me back.

I may have given the impression that the steps are bigger than they are, it is about a one inch step on one side with a slightly bigger drop of maybe 3 or 4 inches the other side (sloping pavement). Also that part of the pavement is very narrow and basically the wheelchair user would be in the road more than on the pavement before being able to enter the pub. It is a very narrow back street.

I said that I'm had a friend who was a wheelchair user who was concerned that she would not be able to enter and exit the pub unhindered as any one else would be able to do. They offered to lift any wheelchair users in and I said that this would far from ideal and would not be possible with an electric wheelchair and apart from anything else is not a particularly appealing prospect for the person in the wheelchair. The doorway should be level or a ramp provided.

Anyway, the manager saw my point and I await a phone call.

Mamazon I hope I haven't butted in but as I am right near to the pub on work days I thought I would just go and have a word.

Questions Riven.... do all black cabs have to carry a ramp and can you get your power chair inside a regular black cab?

The reason I ask is that I know a couple of cabbies who could probably be bribed to swing by the pub and pick anyone up and take them to their hotels if it was a struggle getting cabs last time.

Kbear - you are a leg end! Well done you! I knew there was a reason I kept you onside! Who are these cabbies then?
