I have realised it probably makes more sense to create a new thread. Otherwise I look as if I don't know that March has come and gone!

So..... anyone?

oooo, tempted.....
I live in Merton Abbey. I could join you if you'll have me but I can only do weekends so might pop along if it's not a work day

BecauseImWorthIt · 28/06/2009 09:11

Oh good another victim someone else to play with!

Will certainly have you - can you do either 24 or 25 July? (Evening, natch!)

FruitynNutty · 28/06/2009 09:16

Aaah, an evening do. Now your talking

Where are you thinking of going?

BecauseImWorthIt · 28/06/2009 09:58

No idea yet - it will depend on wherever we're all coming from.

Last time we met up at Henry J Beans, which was a bit of a mistake as it was too dark, too loud and there was nowhere to sit!

We went to eat at Confucius, on the Broadway, which was fine.

If you're in Merton Abbey, then Mamma Rosas could be a good place?

FruitynNutty · 28/06/2009 10:26

Mamma Rosas is good.
The Common Room in Wimbledon Village is a nice bar but could get quite noisy and is full of wannabes on a Fri/Sat eve

Mamma Rosas is very spacious we'd get a nice big table, not noisy and it's bright
Might have to book a table if AbbeyFest is on. I can't remember when it starts (July at some point)
How many are going so far? Was it a good turn out last time?

PheasantPlucker · 28/06/2009 12:30

5 last time?

OP posts:
FruitynNutty · 28/06/2009 12:43

five's not a bad turn out

BecauseImWorthIt · 28/06/2009 14:07

I'm sure we can manage more!

EyeballsandherSunburntNorks · 28/06/2009 14:14

I can do 24 and 25. Slightly prefer 25 as coming back from Center Parcs on the Friday but will go with the flow...

BecauseImWorthIt · 28/06/2009 14:16

Oh good - you couldn't make it last time I seem to recall!

policywonk · 28/06/2009 14:17

Could I come? I'm not too far from you lot - out in the wilds just beyond Surbiton... 24/25 July both free at the moment (although there is a class mothers' outing looming, which might turn out to be on either of those dates).

EyeballsandherSunburntNorks · 28/06/2009 14:22

Well I'm in Epsom so even further. I think we're just within the boundaries for the Womble meet up and aren't consigned to Guildford!

BecauseImWorthIt · 28/06/2009 14:24

Weeeeeeeeeell .......

YES!

Doesn't have to be Wimbledon - we just started off with it because PP and I both live there!

policywonk · 28/06/2009 14:30

Hurray!

at Guildford (not really, but it's a bit of a trek for me)

I don't mind Wimbers - it's on a direct train route for me, which is all that matters when I'm pissed

PheasantPlucker · 28/06/2009 14:35

Oh crikey, we're not travelling to Guildford are we???!!

OP posts:
BecauseImWorthIt · 28/06/2009 14:44

Absolutely not!

But if we need to be near the station so that people can travel easily, Mamma Rosa is probably not such a good idea.

policywonk · 28/06/2009 16:09

Near to the station would be good, but I'm sure we could sort taxis if necessary. I'll leave choice of venue up to you lot - haven't been out in Wimbledon for years.

FruitynNutty · 28/06/2009 19:50

Why don't we meet in Wimbledon Village then? It's just up the hill from the station
I'm sure we could find a nice, fairly quiet bar there?

EyeballsandherSunburntNorks · 28/06/2009 22:50

for anyone not up that way or forgotten what's there

PheasantPlucker · 29/06/2009 00:05

And a Strada.......!

OP posts:
BecauseImWorthIt · 29/06/2009 08:27

Rose and Crown is quite nice, in the courtyard at the back - I haven't eaten there for years though.

Recently tried the Butcher and Grill, which was good, but expensive for what it was - one of those places where the main course is expensive to start with, and then you have to pay extra for your vegetables.

FruitynNutty · 29/06/2009 09:05

Strada's a good idea Pheasant.....

PheasantPlucker · 29/06/2009 09:08

Haven't been in Rose and Crown for yonks. Remember it being nice though.

Am rather looking forward to this.

I had a new food experience last night, at a friend's house; barbecued chicken done with a can of beer up the bot! (the bird's, not mine!) It was rather delish!!

OP posts:
EyeballsandherSunburntNorks · 29/06/2009 11:52

Wot, the whole can? Ouchy, good job it was dead

BecauseImWorthIt · 29/06/2009 12:37

I don't get this - what's the point?
