Anybody fancy meeting up for a coffee/lunch/playtime with/without kids - I have 2 ds - age 3 years and 10 months. I am surprised how nervous I am doing this!

So far the definites seem to be leander, Ali P, empress, and me for either date. If chatee can make the 3rd May, is it ok to do it then? It would mean the nearly due mums might be able to make it (I went to see The Lion King on my due date - ds1 jumped all over the place and loved it - he was still nearly two weeks overdue though).

Ninja, woozle and Hales - can you make this?

I like AliP's life cafe suggestion - can we have a show of hands. Also, any suggestions for a time and how we identify each other?

I am looking forward to this but also very nervous. Dh keeps taking the mick and making very bad jokes but ultimately thinks it is a good opportunity to meet new people. Have any of you done this before? And what was the concensous?

sorry i can't make the 3rd May but don't mind if i have to miss out this one if it's more convenient for everyone else.....but set the next date and i'll put a request for the day off in work...

ninja · 24/04/2003 08:58

Can't promise Eyelash - but I'll do my best. I'm still working so if I can do that I should beable to make it to Liverpool! Having my 38 week check-up today so I'm optimistically hoping that they may beable to give me some idea if it's likely to be on-time/late....

Good for you for organising all this, hopefully it can be made into a more regular thing.

woozle · 24/04/2003 17:32

Hi eyelash

sorry I can't do the 3rd May - away for the Bank Holiday but could make the 17th.

Go ahead with the 3rd though if enough people can make it.

Life cafe is a good suggestion by Ali P

Giggler · 25/04/2003 11:20

Zoe - thanks again. We had a fantastic day at the Sci Museum - the boys were happy to browse and entertain themselves, and we had a great time catching up - 4 hrs in the end.

We also enjoyed the interactive suite in the Art Gallery - definitely worth a visit if anyone's interested.

But for ds1 the highlight of the day was definitely seeing trams at Piccadilly Gardens ...!

eyelash · 28/04/2003 09:39

It has all gone quiet on the meet-up front. The only replies back in the last week have been that the 3rd is not so good. To be honest, I forgot it was a bank holiday.

Can we have a show of hands for the 17th instead.

17th is fine by me.....anywhere!!anytime..any place.....reminds me of an ad-but can't remember which one!

Rhubarb · 28/04/2003 15:33

Martini. You'll be meeting in my neck of the woods! Whereabouts have you decided?

eyelash · 28/04/2003 16:05

17th is is then. I hope lots more can make it. I recall AliP suggesting the Life Cafe on Bold street. Unless anyone has any objections, can I suggest an 11.30 meet up, as we can spill into lunch if necessary, and also have time for some retail therapy in the morning.

Anybody got any suggestions on how we recognise each other.

Rhubarb · 28/04/2003 16:13

Is it expensive?

leander · 28/04/2003 17:31

Sorry I haven't been in touch eyelash. The 17th is fine for me,just let me know for sure where and what time.Leander xxx

woozle · 28/04/2003 19:25

Ooohh I'm really excited. I was begining to think it was this weekend when I couldn't make it.

17th is fine 11.30 at Life Cafe sounds a good idea. Why don't we book a table in ?eyelash's name then all we have to do is ask for the eyelash party (or maybe another name?)

My DH thinks we are all mad but I'm really keen!

chatee · 28/04/2003 19:35

I'll be the one with suitcases not bags under my eyes...and that's before the martinis(thanks for that)that time is fine with me....can we please have a definite time and who to ask for by the 8th May as i'm then away on holiday in deepest darkest Wales in a caravan and i don't think i'll have internet access somehow-mumsnet withdrawal symptons-any advice please....

eyelash · 28/04/2003 21:35

Yippee - some takers! I was beginning to wonder if I would end up on my own - how sad would that have been.

Rhubard - From what i remember, Life Cafe is mid-range but maybe sombody who has been there recently can provide a better price guide. I think they do sandwiches, to main courses and you can just have coffee and drinks also. I am in town this weekend and will check.

Once I have a better idea of numbers I will book a table. For chatees benefit, we'll confirm it for the 8 May.

As for a table name? Can't use eyelash as they might think it strange. How about something very non-descript like Mrs Jones?

Woozle - maybe your dh and my dh should meet up?

Also wondered if any of us know each other and in for a shock on the day!

Chatee - I bet local library will have internet access, and you might even find an internet cafe.

Great, Life cafe it is then, looking forward to it already I'm a bit nervous though.
Scuba if you still log on hope you will come too, sorry I haven't been in touch but I'm hopeless and have lost your e-mail address again!

ninja · 28/04/2003 22:05

Think of me all of you - I'll either have a little one or be 9 days late and eating lots of curry!

AliP · 29/04/2003 11:20

Life cafe on 17th it is. Really looking forward to it.

see you all there.

Empress · 02/05/2003 19:33

Can't do 17 May - shame, Life cafe on Bold St sounded perfect, too!
Have a good time and maybe I'll make it next time!

Rhubarb · 03/05/2003 15:28

Our wedding anniversary is on the 15th May so doubtful I will make it either, I'm hoping we can do something nice together that weekend. But you never know, I might suggest we go to Manchester and if we do, I'll pop in and say hello!

woozle · 04/05/2003 09:10

Rhubarb - we're meeting in Life Cafe Liverpool. Didn't want you to pop into Manchester and find no one there!

eyelash · 05/05/2003 18:46

Booked a table for 6 today at the Life Cafe for 11.30am on 17 May. 5 of us have confirmed so I am hoping somebody else may join us - or maybe Rhubard can come along (with husband!).

The table is booked in the name of Vivian - waiter gave me an odd look! Menu looks fine with a good choice of reasonably priced options (ceasar salad £7, wrap and chips £5).

Were any of you in Liverpool today - we spent ages watching the brass band, and we also attended the aerial display this afternoon - both superb!

See you all soon!

Linzoid · 05/05/2003 19:11

Rhubarb · 05/05/2003 20:54

Liverpool apparently Linzoid!

mum2toby · 05/05/2003 20:57

I might tag along if that's ok?? We are going down to Bootle that whole weekend to visit the future in-laws. So depending on whether Nana can babysit ds I might be able to make it. DP knows where it is so he may come along too. We might arrive a bit later though. How long will you be staying there? Will there be alcohol involved??
