SATURDAY THE 16TH OF JULY, in Manchester.

At the moment we are thinking family friendly picnic at Heaton Park and then a girls night out, we haven't got the evening and hotel sorted yet but we will soon! It would be great if you could say if you're planning on coming to the daytime picnic and or the evening things!

JoolsToo · 13/04/2005 13:47

dyzzidi · 13/04/2005 16:42

Just thinking How will we recognise people!!

Big Sticky name badges with Mumsnet names and RL names.

Any 'outsiders' may just thin we are mad!

Tortington · 13/04/2005 17:00

butwill be coming to the getting slightly drunk on red wine bit

huggybear · 13/04/2005 17:26

I'd like to come if thats alright with everyone

purpleturtle · 13/04/2005 17:51

maybe we should find a way of visually representing our nickname?! Said lightly, by one who hasn't got to find a fancy dress costume for gobbledigook

marthamoo · 13/04/2005 18:39

I'll come dressed as a cow. Dh can be the back end and the kids can be cowpats.

Gobbledigook · 13/04/2005 19:11

PMSL MM!

Yes, not quite sure what I'd come as but if JT comes too then we'll not be hard to spot as we look rather alike (or so we are told!).

JoolsToo · 13/04/2005 19:13

I've already said I'll be carrying the Daily Mail .....

flashingnose · 13/04/2005 19:13

Oh well in that case I've got to come

MistressMary · 13/04/2005 19:16

No good to me is it.

Manky land!

Have fun!!!

Dahlia · 13/04/2005 19:22

I'd love to come, not sure if I'm free yet that night so I'll keep an eye on this thread re venue etc. Being a posh cheshire-set gal its somewhat handy for me!

jnbsmum · 13/04/2005 23:01

I'd love to come. Will prbably be just me dd and ds. No dh as he always works. Will also just come to the picnic. No evening for me

FastasleepTheInsomniac · 14/04/2005 08:08

I thought of bringing stickers for you all, I can give them out at the picnic.

We're going for an evening meal now, probably La Tasca, after the picnic and then bars etc if you're feeling really brave. I'm reccommending the Travel Lodge hotel becuase it's nice and cheap and near the bars lol. So if you want to do the evening stuff please say so so that I can get the numbers then phone the restaurant to check they'll take us and get a time etc..

I'll post maps etc nearer the date and bring maps too so we don't all get lost on the way from the park to the restaurant and all that

what if the weather is the same as today? - its persisting it down here!

think you should draw up a contingency plan girls!

marthamoo · 14/04/2005 09:34

Have we got any of the more Southern MNers or do they all think Manchester is a barren, heathen, Northern wasteland?

Btw, has anyone been to Heaton Park lately - last time I went it was a bit grim (sorry to be a spanner caster).

JoolsToo · 14/04/2005 09:43

I've NEVER been to Heaton Park

dyzzidi · 14/04/2005 09:48

I went to a outdoor performance of the three muskateers last summer which was brilliant and I had not been to heaton Park for years prior to this. It has been redone and was looking great. I also drove past there last night and the gates was open I will drive up there and have a look this weekend! The hall had been restored but as it was a evening performance it was closed but it did look impressive.

Did'nt go anywhere near the boating lake just the Farm and playground.

marthamoo · 14/04/2005 10:07

Oh well that sounds good, dyzzidi - it was looking rather neglected when I last went (about six years ago). Jan - you haven't lived!

FastasleepTheInsomniac · 14/04/2005 10:11

I'll think up a contingency plan don't worry... plus it's in July it should be lovely!

OP posts:
Gobbledigook · 14/04/2005 10:45

I can't think where Heaton Park is! Where is it?

FastasleepTheInsomniac · 14/04/2005 10:46

Just off the m62 next to Prestwich

OP posts:
JoolsToo · 14/04/2005 10:50

moo - did you mean I haven't lived?

roisin · 14/04/2005 11:14

Yes, please. Can I come! Probably just to the picnic.

Map and directions are here btw for people who want to know where it is.

The new Harry Potter book is being published at midnight that day. But I think ds1 will be happy enough reading on the train/in the park as anywhere else!
