Just read your post Lyra. DP will change his tune when he realises his got his sane partner back again.

DH describes me as 'perkier' and that he no longer has to walk on eggshells around me. much to our mutual relief. So it doesn't just benefit you but everyone around you. Stiff bloody upper lip. Honestly!

Berrie · 09/01/2008 21:45

Dear oh dear...Even I, having sucessfully taken Ad's before, was reluctant to go back on them this time...and I was wrong. You are ill and you can be cured, simple as that. I also felt a lot of guilt...what have I to be depressed about type thing...again, you have to be well again before you can look back and see how unhappy you were. Even if it really was horribly self indulgent given the hardship others in the world suffer...here are some pills, they will make you happier in a while and when you are happier the whole family will benefit...where's the harm?

Berrie · 09/01/2008 21:50

Binkle, I've added you but you need to switch it on for me to contact you.

Night Lyra...sleep well

Zebedeedoodah · 10/01/2008 08:59

OK. Show of hands, which of us are, of have been, on ADs? My guess is that there's quite a high % across MN who are either in the same situation, or, like Lyra (and myself) have spent years in denial. Not sure what this says, except what an amazingly supportive bunch you all are.

binklegoestoLondon · 10/01/2008 09:15

I havent taken AD'S per se however I used to suffer from cluster headaches (otherwise known as suicide heachaches ) so I was prescribed some pills that were also used as ADS in higher doses I think. They did have fantastic job of unknotting my head I know that. Touch wood have not had a cluster headache for around two years now and I dont ever want one again.

If I did feel really depressed I wouldnt hesitate to take them though. I'm generally fairly perky at the mo, I think the exercise is playing a big part in that.

Berrie · 10/01/2008 09:40

So Zeb...have you...ahem...'done it' wearing your shoes yet?

Berrie · 10/01/2008 09:41

I'm getting really excited about my hens now.
Trouble is, I'm dependent on DH to sort it out building hen house and coop...unless I throw money at it

Zebedeedoodah · 10/01/2008 09:54

'Done it' Berrie? Ahem, I'm sure I have no idea what you mean. Besides, I haven't seen DH since they arrived, and as for the alternative, that's not something to discuss sober on a wet Thursday morning in January! But DH is home tonight.

LyraSilvertongue · 10/01/2008 09:55

That's exactly it Zeb, denial. I'm not one to ask for help, so I've been trying to deal with it myself (St John's Wort, exercise, diet etc). I actually felt very foolish asking the doc for help. I think there's more of us on them than we think. Four out of five of this group are, which can't surely be that unusual.
Berrie . Lowering the tone as usual

Berrie · 10/01/2008 09:57

Tee Hee, the question occured to me last night after a tipple or two but I couldn't ask her then. Must say the question didn't have the same appeal in the cold light of day but what the hell!

Berrie · 10/01/2008 09:58

DH has just rung me from the skip at work. He has found a large wooden box that might make a hen house bless him!

LyraSilvertongue · 10/01/2008 10:00

I want a hen house now. All those lovely fresh eggs...
Berrie, maybe you can pop some of yours in a jiffy bag and send them to me.

Berrie · 10/01/2008 10:07

I will want pretty hens that lay pretty eggs...DH will want tasty roasters.

Zeb, Oggs...if one of our hens go broody is it posible to get hold of fertile eggs to raise our own stock and do they have to be treated in a certain way between hens or will half a dozen eggs from a flock with a cockerel do it?

Berrie · 10/01/2008 10:08

Lyra, you can get small houses with runs all in one for a small garden for 2 or 3 hens!

Berrie · 10/01/2008 10:11

Here

LyraSilvertongue · 10/01/2008 10:19

Those look good but the poor things would be terrorised by foxes 24 hours a day. They're a big problem round here. I see them standing on the roof of our shed in broad daylight and they roam in packs at night.

Berrie · 10/01/2008 10:57

Apparently, if you hang human hair around them, they stay away! They'd not get in surely?

Zebedeedoodah · 10/01/2008 11:11

Reynardine is another idea. Stinks like Jeys fluid and you get it from your local agricultural merchants. We're also thinking of getting some in the spring.

Berrie, does your DH work in a skip? That's a strange career!

Zebedeedoodah · 10/01/2008 11:12

Chickens, not reynardine. I've got a 12 bore for the fox!

Berrie · 10/01/2008 11:42

Ok everyone, my mug is on my profile!

Berrie · 10/01/2008 11:42

Silly Zeb.
When do you start your new job?

oggsfrog · 10/01/2008 11:58

No it's not Berrie

Berrie · 10/01/2008 12:03

ah...
