C'est la vie

SaintGeorge · 22/08/2007 16:41

Map of (just about) crawling distance hotels

SaintGeorge · 22/08/2007 16:43

Rats, search didn't link properly. Click on 'find businesses' and put hotels, there are a few local ones.

MrsMills · 22/08/2007 16:46

Oh, so tempting to get a flight over. Umming and ahhing.

Rorytigger · 22/08/2007 16:47

yup - count me in

Rhubarb · 22/08/2007 16:49

It's the cost of the train, then finding somewhere to stay, then the cost of the meal, then extra spending money. We're talking about £100 minimum, probably more if you add on taxis and those little extras you don't count for, so call it £150. That could buy Christmas pressies for all the family.

Is it worth it? I dunno.

WelshBoris · 22/08/2007 16:56

Rhubs, only you know if it's worth it

And only you know if you can afford it.

I'd love to see you again

nailpolish · 22/08/2007 16:58

rhubarb
im getting an aeroplane! from a different country! id love to meet you...
you could have the cardboard box next to mine at kings x

CountessDracula · 22/08/2007 17:04

I must say if it was a toss-up between my kids' xmas presents and a party with a bunch of people you barely know I know which I would choose

OP posts:
Rhubarb · 22/08/2007 17:05

It would be nice but I really really don't think I can afford the expense. Plus I'm working Friday and Monday, no chance of time off. Last year it took 7 hours to get from Preston to Scummy's. 10 if you count the 2 hr journey from here to Preston.

SaintGeorge · 22/08/2007 17:06

After looking at the prices of the hotels on my link I am now considering cheaper options.

Found a good website for locating cheap rooms, especially if there are a few of us who are happy to share and aren't too bothered about how pretty the place is ('cos I can guarantee it wouldn't be).

CountessDracula · 22/08/2007 17:07

check laterooms.com

OP posts:
nailpolish · 22/08/2007 17:09

im sweating over the flights more than acc.
more than i guessed...

WelshBoris · 22/08/2007 17:14

I'm treating it as a Christmas present to myself.

zippitippitoes · 22/08/2007 17:16

so is it best to find somewhere to stay now then?

eleusis · 22/08/2007 17:16

Come on Rhubarb. It IS worth. Really. I had a blast last year. (although the following day was pretty miserable)

Iàm sure people will be willing to split accommodation costs. I'm sharing a room with COV.

CountessDracula · 22/08/2007 17:17
