lissie · 19/07/2007 11:46

im coming from telford, the only one that gets back the same night and not 7am is at 22.10 from worcester staion. should have checked it first really

LilRedWG · 23/07/2007 09:04

DH's good friend/colleague is leaving and his leaving do is on Friday. DH really wants to go and we can't get a baby sitter, so I'm going to have to pull out again.

So sorry ladies! I will meet you all one day, I will!!

Have a lovely time and have a glass or two of wine for me please

Itsthawooluff · 23/07/2007 15:17

Am still coming, as live in "Floodbury", but if I lived the other side of the Avon in Cropthorne, would be looking at very big crater in old A44, 4ft on the road to Evesham and 5ft across the river valley and wondering whether I should ride the Dutch warmblood to the meet up as he has the longest legs and might just get through 3 ft of water.

So subject to any more flashfloods, how long it would take me to ride there on 25yr old horse, and whether they would let me put him in the garden I'll be there

Betty, furball, MistressM, the Worcester gals - are you all right?

sassy · 23/07/2007 15:21

I am going to pull out I'm afraid.I am going to a hotel and spa(alone!) for saat and sun so feel I ought to be at home on fri eve.

Wooluff- furball has posted - they're ok at the mo i believe. Not sure if anyone else is on flood area except poss Mistress M in Evesham but we've not heard from her yet.

BettySpaghetti · 23/07/2007 15:22

Glad you're OK out in the sticks there! furball mentioned you on another thread and was going to email to make sure you wwere ok.

We're OK here although the roads down the hills have been like mini rivers at times (we're on the side of the hill but luckily the waters flowing around us rather than through us)

BettySpaghetti · 23/07/2007 15:23

Thats a shame sassy -although I'm very of 2 days away alone.

Have you done it before?

LilRedWG · 23/07/2007 15:29

Glad to hear that most people are okay floodwise.

sassy · 23/07/2007 15:31

No, never, Betty. Its a sort of needing-closure thingy. My mum died years ago and I am just starting to sort it all out in my head; thought I'd visit where I grew up and dh suggested luvvly spa weekend as part of it. Bless him.

I'll see you all next time.

BettySpaghetti · 23/07/2007 15:37

oh that sounds both lovely and sad at the same time sassy IYSWIM. I hope you get what you want from it

Furball · 23/07/2007 15:39

hi folks. sassy how dare you ditch us in favour of a visit to a hotel and spa alone! very selfish IMHO make sure you enjoy it though

Wooluff - I did say I'd email you earlier but haven't managed to get off the sofa yet to get your email address off the other computer [lazy bones] Glad you are OK have seen some awful pictures of your village and surrounding area, so was concerned. Still don't know about MM, who was in another problem area. We survived it here thank god but we are now without water for upto 7-14 days and severn trent have not bothered with anyone other than gloucester to give the details of how to obtain fresh water! But thanks to the weather the water butt is full I may be a little smelly when I turn up Friday!

Fortunately our night out date was not last Friday as first plucked, as I'm not sure anyone would have turned up.

OP posts:
Washersaurus · 23/07/2007 15:50

Hi, I am very sorry; it was extremely rude of me not to respond to your invite before now

I am due to have my baby on 1st Aug and feel just about ready to pop so I am going to give this meet-up a miss. I hope you all have a lovely time though

I am also pleased to hear that most of you have survived the flooding (so far) btw!

Itsthawooluff · 23/07/2007 16:09

Lor Furball - up to 2 weeks without fresh water! Let me know if you want me to strap water carriers to saddle as well!

If I remember correctly MM's house is a bit set back and higher than the river in Evesham, but might CAT her just in case.

Had an interesting journey on Friday afternoon (and no, had not seen/heard any warnings although I listen to local radio). Dh was trapped in Oxford, and I tried to get through Cotswolds to get him, only to be turned back by police 2 miles from Morton in Marsh. Then by the time I got back to close to Evesham, the 3 inch puddle on the bridge over the local brook had become a 2ft deep fast flowing torrent sideways over the road and the bridge. Fortunately the air intake on my car is quite high, and met up with a neighbour (DN) in his Landy with a snorkel. Was v frightening and like something out of Dante's Peak, but with help of DN towing in parts, managed to get home - only for all power to go in house after 5 mins.

Dh managed to find himself a hotel so I did it all over again on Saturday morning to fetch him.

Mercifully DD's are in Greece with parents so didn't have car full of frightened progeny, or have to rustle up food for children with no power.

Carbon footprint be damned, I want a Landy! Or a canoe

BettySpaghetti · 23/07/2007 16:21

wooluff -get a canoe and come white water rafting down the track to our house
