Hello older North London mums - are you out there?

OP posts:
chelseamorning · 13/05/2008 22:28

Fab to see so many 'older mothers'!

I had my 40th birthday 10 days before my DS was born. Although I was definitely a lot older than others around me, I had a great pregnancy and almost had a home birth (sigh!). Feeling a bit knackered now though () as my DS is 18 months old and I only stopped BF him 6 weeks ago.

I used to live in North London (Mill Hill/Hendon) before my partner seduced me to the Buckinghamshire countryside!

3mum · 14/05/2008 12:30

Count me in for a N London meetup. 45 and 3 children all at school.

FunkyNora · 14/05/2008 12:45

Hi all. I'd love to join in too please.

I was recently 40 and my life has just begun ... apparently! Have 2 dc under 5.

CM I grew up in Hendon/Mill Hill and still have family ties there.

janx · 14/05/2008 12:45

Whereabouts are you 3mum? I am in Stokey

Do you miss London chelseamorning?

chelseamorning · 14/05/2008 14:08

FunkyNora, I lived off Holders Hill Road for 6 years. I'm sure you'll know it!

Janx, no, I don't miss London as I've moved around a lot in my short life (!). Born in the NE of England. Love the buzz of the city and also the birdsong of the countryside. I'm only about 40 mins from the heart of the city if I get desperate for a 'fix'!

3mum · 16/05/2008 15:19

Hi Janx I am in Holloway so not far away.

janx · 03/06/2008 11:12

Hi
It seems to have gone quiet here - where are all the north london older mums

Nursejo · 03/06/2008 11:21

Chester - any mums (with Primary age children) over 40 in Chester? Or is it just me?

KiwiKat · 19/07/2008 17:50

Hello everyone, I'm back after quite a long time away from the board - went back to full time work when my son was 9 months and have been struggling to juggle things ever since. However, I'm desperate for some clever female company (as I said to NotQuiteCockney only this very afternoon) and we've finally got broadband at home, so I'm BACK! Goldenoldie, do you remember me?

I'm the ripe old age of 42, have a 2 year old son and we're hoping to have another one. I live in Bethnal Green. Any other East Enders out there?

goldenoldie · 21/07/2008 17:14

kiwkat - of course I remember you! Welcome back. I'm working f/t too, so limited to evening drinks/supper in hackney or islington.
anyone fancy it?
nqc - how are you?

janx · 22/07/2008 14:24

Hi
I am in stoke newington - not sure if I am clever though - am going to be 43 soon - have a 7 month old and a 3.10 year old...I am an eastender though

kdk · 26/07/2008 19:21

Hi from a fellow north Londoner

I am in East Finchley and would be up for meeting for a drink/something to eat.

I'm 44, managed to give birth five days before my 40th to boy/girl twins - and definitely not going to have any more!

KiwiKat · 28/07/2008 18:22

Drinks/supper one night sounds fun. Could do Islington, but particularly like Hackney as a suggestion. Dates? Thursdays are quite good for our household. Anyone else up to join us?

kdk · 28/07/2008 22:33

Thursdays not too great for me as I rely on my dear old ma as a babysitter and that tends to be the one night she gets out ... but other than that - anywhere you can get to by tube is good ....

KiwiKat · 30/07/2008 16:08

How's a Wednesday?

goldenoldie · 02/08/2008 17:00

Weds or Thursdays good for me.

kdk · 03/08/2008 19:08

Wednesday would be okay for me - and Islington sounds good - plenty of bars/restaurants to choose from and easy to get to.

KiwiKat · 14/08/2008 23:05

Great. When and where?

kdk · 15/08/2008 17:44

Do we want somewhere to eat - or just drink? Anyone know somewhere a bit off the main drag - or at least that isn't oo noisy? Think I could do next Wednesday if anyone else is up for it

kdk · 15/08/2008 17:46

God - makes me sound like a complete would-be inebriate - just mean does anyone want to have a meal - or just meet up for a natter etc?

laurasmiles · 16/08/2008 16:27

Hi all - it's nice to find this thread. I'm 40 and have a 3yr old boy and a daughter who will turn 2 next week. We moved away from London to Saffron Walden (North Essex) about 15 months ago. I do feel ancient here - definitely the oldest mum on the block.

Although I had friends in London who were older mums they seem few and far between here. It's tricky forging links.....

Great to see so many of you on here!! :-)

sophus · 22/08/2008 20:43

hi laurasmiles - i'm 40 this year and have an 11 month old and i live in Walden too - so you're not the only one here. whereabouts are you?

laurasmiles · 23/08/2008 13:07

Hey! Nice to hear that! I'm in the town pretty much. I really like the area and it's got a nice feel to it. Have you lived here long?
I expected to plug in to the NCt group but I have rarely been there as my dp looked after my two when I wen back to work. I'm off now and so hoping to make some friends soon.....I had some wonderful friends through work but they are rather far away now.
Do you have a boy or a girl?? I love that age group. How are you finding life with a little one? I seem to be constantly tired!!!! But they are lovely of course....

laurasmiles · 23/08/2008 13:11

OOoh Spohus!! Just checkd out your profile - David Bowie, heh? I absolutely love him!!! I cried when I saw him at Wembley (I was about 17 I think - which was about the number of posters I used to have of him on my teenage bedroom wall!)
