Hello older North London mums - are you out there?

OP posts:

I am 45 next month, and 8 weeks pregnant ...my "children" are...2 girls & a boy..nearly 21, 18 and 16...I lost twins at 13 weeks 4 years ago, and then had a massive fibroid removed a year later...I never thought I could possibly get pregnant ever again...without wishing to bore you all senseless of course it is NOT certain that I will produce a live healthy baby at the end of it all, and I am very worried, after last time, as you can imagine (I am also a registered midwife, but have not practised for a number of years now..) All I know is that there is only one baby this time, that it is in the right place, corresponds with dates, and has a heartbeat...I also feel sick til lunchtime, have grown massive boobs already, and am about to buy a chamber pot to save me my frequent visits to the loo in the night, as I am sleeping in the cellar while Im decorating my bedroom and am sick of wandering up and down 2 flights of stairs every 2 hours! It would be nice to hear from any other people in a similar situation, as I am sure it would help my sanity!! Unfortunately (for this thread!) I live "Up North" in the Peak District..but we have invented electricity in recent years, so I can at least speak to people on here!

Hi, am newish to mumsnet and have just realised that I'm not the only member a bit over 40. Am 43 and have a 3 month old - my 4th, but after a 10 year gap. Is rosie17 still looking for north london older mums? I haven't met any others, am a bit out of the loop after such a big gap. Would love to hear from some if you're out there.

evenhope · 22/07/2007 22:14

not in London but 44 with a 4 month old, plus some grown up kids of 15- 21

stepfordwife · 22/07/2007 22:24

44 with ds1, 7, ds2,6, and dd, 2, live in west london.
hey, steppy1...am fairly new to mn - about 5 months - hope i didn't 'steal' your name???? if so, totally unintentional..hey, same age (sorry you're a year younger of course..), similar name and "older" mums. spooky

elkiedee · 31/07/2007 13:41

I'm in north London and feel rather new to being made to feel old - I was 38 at the end of June and had my first baby nearly 3 months ago, also hoping to ttc again quite soon, will be 39/40 if I'm lucky. Would be interested in any meetups planned, or chatting online to other older mums anyway.

EnormousChangesAtTheLastMinute · 03/08/2007 10:10

hello elkiedee! i am north london too and was 38 when i had dd and am 40 and 35 weeks preg now - so i am on a similar timelline to you! know what you mean about the age thing although funnily enough doesn't bother me as much this time round. i sometimes wonder if i look haggard but don't have much time to worry about it! congtats on your pregnancy and here's to 'older' mums!

EnormousChangesAtTheLastMinute · 03/08/2007 10:12

oops, sorry, i mean congratulations on your lovely son. ahem. pregnancy brain, nothing to do with age...ahem.

ladymac · 03/08/2007 10:32

Hi everyone, I posted on this thread a few weeks ago, glad to see it's up and running again.

Where in North London are you, fellow N Londoners? I am in Muswell Hill. Am interested in meeting some other older mums. Anyone interested?

EnormousChangesAtTheLastMinute · 03/08/2007 10:34

oooh, i am between finsbury park and crouch end so v close to muswell hill!

ladymac · 03/08/2007 10:53

Hi Enormous.

Very close then. I used to live on Crouch Hill. How are you finding your pregnancy? I was really tired during my pregnancy (at 43) but have been fine since. Dd3 (4 months) sleeping quite well so guess that helps.

Lots of the mums around here seem really young. I don't think I look too old but someone I met through NCT was in fact young enough to be my daughter!

EnormousChangesAtTheLastMinute · 03/08/2007 13:30

hello, sorry bit ofg a delay in replying. pregnancy has been fine, touch wood. do feel tired - more so than with last one but i think that's having a toddler as well as being preg. don't seem to be more exhausted than others - younger! and dh is great, which is a lifesaver some days.

glad your dd sleeps! just hope mine does. all very well with the first, you can fit round them but from then on there are others to consider and i admit i'm dreading sleepless nights followed by days spent with active toddler. gulp.

goldenoldie · 06/08/2007 17:45

bump for older mums, very gently of course.

nowheregirl · 14/02/2008 17:36

Hello,
Would love to meet older mums too but in Norfolk. there aren't many of us up here, unfortunately. I'm 45 in a few months time and have a three year old and a twenty year old. Find the three year old much easier to cope with than the older one.

babydrip · 01/03/2008 20:53

Hello....
havent ventured very far on mumsnet...err only on the sale boards..bit shy...till i get going of course! lol!

elissetheclimber · 05/04/2008 22:29

mufti · 06/04/2008 09:20

janx · 10/04/2008 17:17

Hi
I live in Stoke newington - am 42 with a 3.5 year old and a 4 month old - am up for going to the parent screeenings and the rio or any other cinema, having cups of tea and cake and going to the park - any one else want to join me??

rosie17 · 14/04/2008 18:56

Hi Janx/All I'm 45 this month with a 2.5 year old and a six year old. Went to 'That Place on the corner' last week then onto Clissold Park. Some of the shops on Church St. look fab but my little 'un would only let me gaze through the windows. Haven't tried the parent screening as yet but would like to give the Rio a go and I'm up for tea and nice cake in the first instance.
