sweetkitty... everyones says they will meet up but nobody does, no one forthcoming with venues or ideas, ARE WE THAT BAD!!!!!.. Its easy enough to get to Edinburgh for me, infact so is Glasgow, bt i dont know my way round it, as im from edinburgh... Im open to suggestions for venues, dates etc,

hoolagirl · 15/03/2007 16:00

My problem for travelling is that I don't drive and do not relish a long trip with my 2 year old devil on public transport!
(((((((shuddering at the thought)))))
Anything localish im up for though.

sweetkitty · 15/03/2007 16:06

kitty I'm the same don't know either but happy to do either (if that makes any sense)

I am so tempted to say right I will be at venue X at time X anyone want to meet me (although I would be scared to be standing there like Norma no mates)

I may start a Mile for Maude Scottish thread to see if theres any support and we can have a vote for Glasgow/Edinburgh

hoola - Glasgow's only about 40 mins away on the train he would see it as a wee day out one's a peace of cake try it with 2 monsters! So are you originally from Ardrossan? Chances are we will know some of the same people (it's so like that in the 3 towns isn't it?)

hoolagirl · 15/03/2007 16:09

Yes in Ardrossan and originally from here as well, briefly escaped to work in Glasgow for a good few years but now back here full time!

kitty17 · 15/03/2007 16:38

sweetkitty.... im up for it, why not try a test run and see what response you get...

Jennylee · 15/03/2007 19:08

lol you might get lucky, but whenever I have started scottish meet up threads or bumped them before they fizzle out pretty quick....unless its just me lol, but i can go to any edinburgh things, don't know my way around glasgow though

hoolagirl · 15/03/2007 19:57

I think sometimes the distance can be a problem, especially if you have young kids.
Why not try meet ups for different areas, ie one in edinburgh, glasgow, up north, ayrshire etc.

clayre · 15/03/2007 20:02

hello, i wondered what happened to this thread how is everyone?

soph28 · 16/03/2007 10:50

i will meet up if you provide time and venue- jennylee and I organised one before and it was just the two of us! It was successful but was a shame noone else turned up. I can go to Edinburgh or Glasgow and I can take JennyLee along too!

kitty17 · 16/03/2007 11:55

Hello, Have to say this sounds like a nightmare, HOWEVER if you guy's are up for meeting then i am. Going to run a few things past you please state your preference.

Do you want to meet up
A)...With the kids (day time), or
B)...Without (night) let our hair down?..

I dont know Glasgow at all, but im fine with Edinburgh or Livingston, so again which is best.
A)...Edinburgh
B)...Livingston

Anyone who has any ideas, please talk up so we can arrange this.
Come on Girls lets make this happen

prettybird · 16/03/2007 12:05

I've orgnaised Glasgow meet-ups before and helped with meet-iup sin Stirling and Edinburgh.

I'm in Glasgow, so that is easiet for me, abut am happy to go across to Edniburgh. I've even been to a meet-up in in Livi (the family farm palce - can't remember the name) - but only Sammac and I turned up - both of us coming from Glasgow!

In Glasgo, the meet-ups have been in Prices Square (Buzzy Wares) on a Satruday on SUnday lunchtime. That way the kids have been able to run around the mosaic and leave us to chat!

Personally, I am happier with a day time do at the weekends as I work full time. Livingston would depend on when it was and whether dh was using the car. Edinburgh I can get to by train.

At the memeont I'd be more likley to go to a Glasgow based do, as my mum is in hospital and I'm having to factor in visiting her. having said that, she may end up being transferred to a hospital in Bonkle of all places (near Newmains) for a while - so I cooudl go to a meet-up on the way to/from visiting her.

kitty17 · 16/03/2007 12:10

Ok thanks for that... might give you a shout to help me then, Im new Mumsnet and doing meetups will see what respond we get....

kitty17 · 16/03/2007 12:27

Guys have posted a new Message under Meetups - EDINBURGH, GLASGOW, LIVINGSTON AND SURRONDS.. will see if we get a response from that.

kitty17 · 16/03/2007 12:30

I know its short notice, but if anyone can make it tonight, im having a night out in chicargo Rock (Livingston)... Please come along and make yourself known, I will be beside the DJ box with 4 other friends.. but just incase, my photo is on this....
Hope to see anyone there....
