Just real frosty here, supposed to be snow the morrow. Bet Arran looks beautiful the now from the distance. Miss the mountains & the sea.

sammac · 07/02/2007 21:29

Just outside Glasgow- no snow but plenty frost.

Welcome

strangefruit · 07/02/2007 21:30

I would like a scottish opinion on my "am i being unreasonable" thread, it is about jolly phonics, can't do links, but I am fed up with the pronounciation, if any of you have a moment

we have only had real snow this week, the rest has been just a wee teaser, but oh it is cold tonight, we are in n.e scotland, btw

sweetkitty · 07/02/2007 21:31

Whereabouts in Ayrshire kidstrak if you can see Arran? I used to live in Saltcoats but have somehow ended up in Motherwell.

Kidstrak · 07/02/2007 21:31

frosty here too, been posting on and off for 2yrs now, just recently left and have come back after a few weeks can't stay away from the place

Kidstrak · 07/02/2007 21:33

sweetkitty i'm sure i have spoke with you before i remember you saying about saltcoats i think! I'm in Ayr

starfairy · 07/02/2007 21:35

Had a good few nites out in Saltcoats, had friends in Ardrossan.

sammac · 07/02/2007 21:38

Strangefruit- you're right about the phonics- but most of them seem to be based on a different pronounciation than ours. Sometimes I have to go next door to my English friend so that I can "get" it. Remember one that was iron which was supposed to rhyme with something or other- cos we say iRRon they say i-an and miss out the r sound. I think teachers have to use common sense and not be dictated to bt the books/schemes.

sweetkitty · 07/02/2007 21:40

kidstrak - aye that's right I remember you now (my brain is fried these days)

starfairy - the good old Metro I presume DP and I actually met in there (it has a lot to answer for)

starfairy · 07/02/2007 21:43

Of course where else in Saltcoats!!! Aint been down that direction in almost 8 years.

strangefruit · 07/02/2007 21:52

thanks sammac, remember the i'on one now, do feel like objecting in some official way, but not partic to the teacher more to the jolly phonics lot they are just SO wRong

dd was quite insistent that we do it the way it says on the sheet but I could not help but point out the eRRor of her ways, her name has an R in it she is quite particular about the R being used!

sorry I will shut up now, maybe
hi-jack over sorry

DeputyMacDawg · 07/02/2007 21:57

starfairy · 07/02/2007 22:04

Much changed in Saltcoats?

OP posts:
starfairy · 07/02/2007 22:24

Anyone still about??

OP posts:
sweetkitty · 07/02/2007 22:26

Absolutely nothing has changed in Saltcoats!

Haven't been down this year but will be going soon to visit the relatives, it always feels to me like the town time forgot but sometimes in a comforting way.

Plaza chips and ice cream the best ever!

starfairy · 07/02/2007 22:29

I do miss Glasgow for the shopping. All NI people think i'm mad living here they all want to go to Scotland.
