Wow! We filled a thread!

Hope you all find this new one!

Our evening was great, had a lovely time. kids were all very well behaved. dd sleeping in our bedroom is a nightmare tho - she's sooo noisy!

we need a 3rd bedroom

we're off for Sunday lunch at The Botanist later YUM!

2cute, we're scheduled to have skids that weekend but not confirmed yet. if we do, not sure if i could come and don't want to invite 2 extra kids and dh as that'd be rather cheeky! if we don't then we'll be there

it's far too early for a Sunday!

Poor you Foxy, my offer stands and if t2bgood is available to look after lo's then I can come child free. My other adice is go and eat alot of chocolate .

quokka · 19/02/2007 19:53

sorry puds, got a busy day tomorrow.

2Cute · 19/02/2007 20:12

Oh Foxi - WHAAAAT???? Can't believe he almost missed your last birth because of the world cup If it's any help, my DH is also the last person I can rely on when I most need him so you're not alone. I'm lucky that my family's nearby or I'd go mental but I try not to burden them. One thing is for sure we are here and MORE than willing to help you Has he told you why he didn't respond?

Puds - how did the possible job thing go?

2Cute · 19/02/2007 20:13

also very baby's doing well.

eleusis · 19/02/2007 20:24

Foxie, in my dream worl that's what families are for. In the real world I find Mumsnet far more reliable. When I was in QC having DS almost two years ago, there was another MNer in there. WE had chatted on here. And she came in and was the section in theatre right after me. We met on QC maternity ward. So, you never know... Are there more people on your antenatal thread booked into QC?

Paddlechick666 · 19/02/2007 20:28

evening all

well, dd's bedtime wasn't as smooth as normal but that may be due to new nightlight that she wanted to stare at. she's still quite restless now altho nightlight off.

foxie, glad at least that the placenta is moving.

sorry Pud, got plans to meet up with NCT crew at Brent Cross tomorrow.

pudding77 · 19/02/2007 20:48

oh well, maybe a walk around Kew then.

Paddle - if it's any consolation, ds hasn't been too easy tonight, spent a while chatting away to himself and is shifting around a bit now

2cute - the job thing went well thanks. I'll only be working a few hours a week and from home so it's perfect really! Plus it will only be for a couple of months so if I decide I'm not ready to go back to work it won't be a huge issue .

pudding77 · 19/02/2007 21:07

well I'm off to bed. Had a glass of wine with dinner & it seems to have knocked me out!

sfxmum · 19/02/2007 22:01

guess puds gone to bed, no idea what to do tomorrow awful half term it was v.busy @kew and i stayed well clear of C&C

hope everyone ok tonight

suejonez · 19/02/2007 22:07

You're welcome to come over here for a coffee SFX in the morning, plan on hanging out at home for the morning as we have barely been in for days and I have piles of stuff to do.

trying2bgood · 19/02/2007 22:34

fox - the birthcentre is lovely, I think I mentioned it to you before. The mid wives are great and very supportive and calming. They really make the whole experience much better and far less stressful. I am so glad that i was there when dh did not make it in.

Will gladly take the your los Quokka if you give fox a lift but fox try not to do anything for the next 36 hours as I will be in edinburgh!

SJ found my list of iron rich foods

Animal Foods Rich in Iron
Eggs - especially the yolk
Oily fish e.g. tuna, sardines, pilchards, cockles and mussels
Kidney, liver, heart
Lamb, game, beef
Black pudding, corned beef, faggots **
Oxo, Bovril

Vegetable Foods Rich in Iron
Wholemeal bread and flour
Iron-fortified cereals - Bran, Branflakes, Weetabix
Beans and pulses e.g. lentils, chick peas, haricot, kidney, pinto, baked, butter, peas
Nuts - almonds, cashews, Brazils, walnuts
Dried fruit - apricots, figs, dates
Green vegetables - watercress, spinach
Rich fruit cake, gingerbread, ginger biscuits
Curry powder
Cocoa, chocolate, black treacle

One good reason to each chocolate

foxabout2pop · 20/02/2007 08:21

SJ The African BF teacher I saw yesterday said that green plantains are extremely rich in iron and in a very absorbable form.

Also add broccoli to your list but think green veg has iron in less absorbable form (spinach iron is quite difficult to absorb me thinks)

Red fruit is quite good though (oranges, red peppers, tomatoes etc)

pudding77 · 20/02/2007 08:27

Apparently drinking orange juice when eating helps you absorb more iron.

Looks like a miserable day and not sure if I want to go to Kew now after what sfx said...

foxabout2pop · 20/02/2007 08:28

T2BG - have a good time in Edinburgh!!

Sue - R U still up for a meet this arvo? We have dentist this morning but should be free after 1pm - just DD and I.

Puds - you still wanna meet?

The Badger Set in Kew is a good alternative to C&C - mine love it and will spend up to an hour running around in the Set

Saying that, I'd need a wheelchair to get there atm...

Thanks for all your support Grrls I will chack my back up crew and that I've got asll your numbers on my mobile.

What would be helpful is if you put the times I can and can't contact you tooo i.e. is 11pm-8am a no no? Or school run times? etc etc

pudding77 · 20/02/2007 08:29

morning foxie, how did you sleep last night?

I could meet up for a coffee this afternoon though it would probably be around 3 as ds tends to be napping after lunch.

Paddlechick666 · 20/02/2007 08:32

morning all

off to Brent Cross today to meet old NCT buddy.

I am aghast as I've run out of humous - what is my child to eat at lunchtime?

feck it, it'll have to be turkey twizzlers!

foxie, are we gonna get you in a chariot tomorrow arvo for a spin? i'll update my Backup entry with times etc.

maybe some whizz can do you a spreadsheet and laminate it. Then you can just x-ref the time and day with the available person LOL.

dd is in cloth for the first time in 5 months today! she's whinged a bit but seems to have got used to it now.

I am feeling smug and very eco-conscious. Off to H&M to see if I can get some big bottom trews for her now

foxabout2pop · 20/02/2007 08:40

Hmm - not sure I have the courage to go in a wheelchair at Kew - may call them first to discuss. The DCs would love it though . We could go to the badgwer set via Lion Gate?

Paddle enjoy your morning - nice to catch up with old frinds - presumably they all have DCs the same age as DD?

Puds - slept well last night thanks to Paddle's huge sausage pillows she lent me. I was snuggled up to them all night - big sausage between my knees (I wish!), little sausage behind my back and a flat pillow under the bump - ahh bliss

I'll see what time Sue is around too.....

pudding77 · 20/02/2007 08:43

I remember towards the end that dh used to complain about how many cushions and pillows I had and that they were spreading into his half of the bed. I did point out that if he wasn't happy he could always sleep on the air mattress instead !

foxabout2pop · 20/02/2007 08:51

Puds - DH is on a mattress in the kids room atm - TBH he's lucky I let him in the house after yesterday!!

sfxmum · 20/02/2007 09:00

good morning all

it seems dd wakes up later than your lot but then again she does go to bed much later, it suits us because we like to have dinner together and dh likes giving her a bath.
but anyway

foxie 11pm to 8 am is ok since dh can look after dd just have to remember to take mobile to bedroom

got you text sue will take it easy today i think, have laundry ironing, etc. good grief never thought i would ever say that
must pop along to M&S at some point too.

puds it wasn't that bad really just need to be more careful with the big ones charging about

dd usually naps from 2pm so pm meets are limited

foxabout2pop · 20/02/2007 09:58

Right I'll check back in later - about 12.30 to see who is around this arvo...
Sue - will try and call you...

suejonez · 20/02/2007 10:05

I was supposed to be meeting my mum at 2pm but she has a heavy cold so has cancelled. So I'm free until D needs to nap maybe 3.30?

ComeOVeneer · 20/02/2007 11:30

Morning all. Well this cold is getting worse each day. I think I may be heading for a sinus infection. I am doing the bare minimum today, caring for ds and the school run. Typically dh is out for the evening (work related so can't cancel). Just want to curl up in bed . Hope to be better for the farm on thursday.

eleusis · 20/02/2007 12:06

I had one of those big pillowsow about a foot wide by 4 or 5 long. I put it down the middle of the bed and put one (fat) leg on top. I used to say there were three of us in the bed. So that meant one third for the baby, one third for me, and one third for DH.

DH called my beloved pillow "the Berlin wall".
