Hi this is the first time i've been on a web chat page. I am a young mum i have a son whos five and a daughter whos one. I am at uni part time and run a parenting course for a local charity. I had my son when i was fifteen and my daughter when i was nineteen, i'm a single parent. Would love to hear from others in the same situation.

I live in Congleton Ruth01!
I was 22 when i had dd (now 20 months) and I know what you mean about the looks! I look LOTS younger than i am, too, also got asked if my parents are in several times-how humiliating in your own house!
I did force myself to antenatal classes and toddler groups etc and found that if you really get out there and people get to know you then they realise you aren't anything like the stereotyped young single parent(I'm that as well)they think you are.
I had a few nasty comments and funny looks at first but I guess i must be fairly thick skinned because i just laughed them off and now i think most people don't even think about it.
Onbe thing i did find really useful was the National Childbirth Trust- i also moved house when i was preggers and didn't know anyone but i went to NCT coffee mornings and now i know heaps of people and everyone was much friendlier than i expected!
I think that if you expect people to be funny with you then they often will be (no offence to those people who are afraid of going to groups) but if you expect them to treat you like a normal person then it will generally happen. IYSWIM!
Most of my friends with klids are a good five years older than me; I don't really know many other young mums, but it doesn't really bother me that much TBH.
cxxx
